Operational Ontology Framework memory report
Type: agentic-system-analyses/types/agentic-system-memory-report.md
Boundary and evidence
The memory boundary is the public reference's prescribed external state, session continuity, source trust and maintenance. It includes Pin, Spec, Handoff, Facts, the weekly-review authorized source, stable-rule amendment and the general write-back requirement. It is a complete reference artifact but a partial operational loop, as fixed by boundary. All operational findings below are doctrine/design under SRC-1, not observed behavior.
Direct reads covered both READMEs, all five docs/ files and .github/workflows/public-surface.yml. The checkout HEAD matches the frozen revision and its worktree is clean. A complete tracked-tree listing was compared with the supplied boundary. The runtime records are supplied analysis, not execution evidence. No target code, example, CI or service was executed.
| Entry point or operation | Source paths, SRC-1 | Coverage and conclusion limit |
|---|---|---|
| Four state roles | README.md, README.pt-BR.md |
Direct reads; MEM-OBJ-pin, MEM-OBJ-spec, MEM-OBJ-handoff, MEM-OBJ-facts. No instances, initialization procedure or concrete storage supplied. |
| Weekly acquisition, review and write-back | docs/conceptual-example.md |
Direct read plus supplied RT-RTE-weekly-review; MEM-OBJ-authorized-source. Human confirmation is specified; physical I/O and later loading are not. |
| General continuity and rule maintenance | docs/governance-principles.md, docs/anti-patterns.md |
Direct reads; MEM-BAP-state-continuity, annotation on RT-RTE-rule-amendment. No update propagator or retention executor. |
| Source trust and context use | docs/dla-model.md, docs/what-is-operational-ontology.md |
Direct reads. Provenance, freshness, ownership and review are requirements, not retrieval algorithms or validated metadata. |
| CLI dispatch, hooks, tools, library/service calls, persistence/reload drivers | Complete tracked-tree listing and public boundary in README.md |
Supplied RT-ABS-agent-entry, confirmed against direct reads and tree. No shipped operational implementation to trace; private implementation remains outside evidence. |
| Publication validation and rejection | .github/workflows/public-surface.yml |
Direct read; supplied RT-RTE-public-surface. Checks repository files and URLs, not operational facts, context, state or agent performance. |
| External kits, host stores, model internals and evaluations | README.md, docs/governance-principles.md |
External/private dependencies excluded by supplied boundary. Prevents claims about actual schemas, opaque provider memory, prompt delivery, compaction, cleanup, evaluation results or enforcement. |
Other publication/legal files retain the boundary's supplied classification, not a claim of fresh direct inspection here. There are no supplied traces or causal experiments. An unspecified mechanism is not assumed absent in private deployments.
Core ideas
The distinctive prescription separates state by intended lifetime and responsibility rather than treating conversation history as sufficient memory. Pin carries stable boundaries; Spec carries changing work; Handoff carries session continuity; Facts carries attributed observations. The four roles are not four demonstrated stores, nor a published serialization schema (SRC-1, README.md).
Current objectives, constraints and unresolved decisions should exist outside the model conversation. ---
docs/governance-principles.md
Durable state is meant to connect action evidence to the next operator. This is a declared consumer role even without deployed wiring. It does not establish a push or pull retrieval route, complete model context, or successful use. The continuity channel is MEM-BAP-state-continuity.
Source retrieval does not grant truth or authority. This limits any reading of Facts as automatically accepted knowledge and of Pin as an overriding permission source (SRC-1, docs/dla-model.md, docs/governance-principles.md).
An AI system should not treat retrieved text as automatically true, current or authorized. Source, freshness and responsibility still matter. ---
docs/dla-model.md
No context budget, token allocator, prompt ordering, trim policy, isolation frame, compaction checkpoint or on-demand reload mechanism is published in the inspected reference. The recommendation to keep rules outside an oversized prompt is not implementation of working-context control. No stack-frame-like context boundary or return-only channel can be identified (SRC-1, docs/dla-model.md, README.md; RT-ABS-agent-entry).

Operative objects
MEM-OBJ-pin
Label: Pin
Source-native stable identity, domain boundaries and non-negotiable rules, with low volatility. Representational form: natural-language governance content by the public description; actual artifact encoding and any machine-readable fields are uninspected. Storage substrate: unspecified external-state medium, not model weights or a demonstrated file. Initial authorship, source and admission are unspecified. Subsequent stable-rule changes require ownership and a deliberate amendment path. Intended consumers are later operators interpreting constraints; no model-facing delivery is supplied. Internal rules are subordinate to law, security and revoked authorization. Reasons for individual rules and their later consumption are not supplied (SRC-1, README.md, docs/governance-principles.md).
Closest supplied record: RT-RTE-rule-amendment is a change route, not this retained state role; no supplied object counterpart. Whether every Pin field is governed by that route is unspecified.
| Pin | Stable identity, domain boundaries and non-negotiable rules | Low | ---
README.md
MEM-OBJ-spec
Label: Spec
Source-native current objective, tasks, blockers and acceptance criteria; high volatility. Representational form: described semantic work state, naturally human/model interpreted; concrete encoding uninspected. Storage substrate: unspecified external-state medium. Initial provenance, writer, per-edit admission, replacement and history are unspecified. Intended consumer: the operator continuing the current work; the publication does not show a later invocation receiving a revised Spec. Current-run work state alone is not established read-back memory. No rationale-retention obligation accompanies this role (SRC-1, README.md, docs/governance-principles.md).
Closest supplied record: RT-RTE-weekly-review also handles blockers but does not identify its inputs or outputs as Spec. No supplied counterpart or demonstrated identity with the weekly authorized source.
| Spec | Current objective, tasks, blockers and acceptance criteria | High | ---
README.md
MEM-OBJ-handoff
Label: Handoff
Source-native session-continuity state holding decisions, attempts, results and next action; labeled append-only. Representational form: natural-language continuity record by description; concrete serialization uninspected. Storage substrate: unspecified durable medium. Lineage: intended to preserve outcomes of prior work, with no published extraction, summarization or raw-history capture algorithm. It must not be classified as an automatically learned policy or a complete raw transcript. Append-only is a prescribed lifetime, not demonstrated immutable storage. Reasons for decisions may be possible content, but are not explicitly required; no reason-reading consumer is shown. Intended consumer: next operator/session, with a next-review point in the weekly example (SRC-1, README.md, docs/governance-principles.md, docs/conceptual-example.md).
Closest supplied record: RT-RTE-weekly-review produces a short handoff. This object describes that named state role rather than duplicating the encompassing route; no supplied object counterpart.
| Handoff | Session continuity: decisions, attempts, results and next action | Append-only | ---
README.md
MEM-OBJ-facts
Label: Facts
Source-native long-term observations carrying source, date and confidence; medium volatility. Representational form: attributed observation content, not demonstrated symbolic truth predicates or numerical embeddings. Storage substrate: unspecified durable medium. Source/date/confidence are intended content metadata, not access counters or evidence of access-based ranking. Individual observation provenance, acquisition, validation, editor, admission, expiration and conflict resolution are unspecified. Intended later consumer: an operator needing operational observations, subject to source/freshness/owner assessment, not automatic truth. No ingestion or targeted retrieval procedure is supplied (SRC-1, README.md, docs/dla-model.md, docs/governance-principles.md).
Closest supplied record: RT-RTE-weekly-review uses confirmed status but does not call it Facts. No supplied object counterpart; identity with the organizational authorized source is unresolved.
| Facts | Long-term observations with source, date and confidence | Medium | ---
README.md
MEM-OBJ-authorized-source
Label: Authorized organizational source
Weekly-example source of truth and prescribed destination for approved status and remaining blockers. Representational form: operational status content; actual text, records and fixed schema uninspected. Storage substrate: organization's unspecified authorized source, not necessarily a framework file. Lineage: AI draft, then reviewer confirmation/correction, then intended recording. Reviewer supplies content-level admission; the actual author of the persisted representation and physical writer are unspecified. The source is intended to inform organizational review, but no later reload is shown. A short handoff is also prescribed; whether it is stored here is unspecified (SRC-1, docs/conceptual-example.md).
Closest supplied record: RT-RTE-weekly-review contains the workflow, not an object declaration. This destination is not equated to Spec or Facts merely because their content could overlap.
The approved status and remaining blockers are recorded in the organization's authorized source. A short handoff preserves the next review point. ---

Behavioral-authority paths
MEM-BAP-state-continuity
Label: Durable state continuity
Consumer: next operator, human or model-assisted role unspecified. Channel: durable state carrying decisions, results, blockers and next safe action, intended for interpretation in later work. Force: normative guidance and work-state evidence, not executable authority or verified compliance. Horizon: across operator/session boundaries. Concrete selection, prompt delivery, actual consumption and behavioral effect are uninspected. Storage is required in principle but its substrate and any derived-summary versus full-history choices are unspecified (SRC-1, docs/governance-principles.md, docs/anti-patterns.md).
Distinct from RT-BAP-action-authority: that path concerns permission to act; this path concerns continuity through retained work. They can interact but neither entails the other.
Execution should update durable state so the next operator inherits decisions, results, blockers and the next safe action. ---
docs/governance-principles.mdIf execution does not update durable state, the next session restarts from incomplete context. ---

Annotations
On RT-RTE-weekly-review
Memory lineage is the review inputs → AI prioritized draft → human accuracy/correction/proceed judgment → approved status and blockers in MEM-OBJ-authorized-source, plus MEM-OBJ-handoff. This is prescribed curation of a work product, not an observed transformation. The draft itself is not specified as durable. No raw chat/tool trace is published, and no automatic trace-to-Facts, trace-to-rule or parameter-update path can be traced (SRC-1, docs/conceptual-example.md, README.md).
The reviewer is a content-level admission agent, separate from AI authorship and the unspecified physical writer. Missing status must remain marked for verification; disputed material is escalated rather than silently accepted. No rejected-draft retention, deletion, rollback or later correction-propagation mechanism is defined. Recorded confirmation is a review reference, not an automatic evaluation oracle (SRC-1, docs/conceptual-example.md).
Read-back is intended for the next review, with open commitments, deadlines and last confirmed status supplying relevance. Overdue-first ordering is a draft-priority rule, not a demonstrated retained-memory selector. Read direction, request initiator, exact retained portions selected, budget and delivery channel are unspecified. No opaque payload/display-summary distinction can be established without a format. Persistence, later use and effect remain unobserved.
On RT-RTE-rule-amendment
The durable material is stable rule content, potentially within MEM-OBJ-pin, not an established versioned rule database. Initial content provenance and admission are unknown independently of the known subsequent requirement for ownership and deliberate amendment. No automatic editor, retained criticism, amendment rationale, version history, reload signal or downstream invalidation mechanism is supplied. Revoked authorization overrides an internal artifact by policy; no physical deletion or stale-copy repair is demonstrated (SRC-1, docs/governance-principles.md).
Write side
Acquisition and initialization of all four state artifacts remain unspecified. Facts has attribution fields, but these do not identify who admits a particular fact. Spec's high volatility does not establish autonomous editing. Pin's low volatility does not mean immutable content, and Handoff's append-only label does not establish tamper resistance. These distinctions preserve known role contracts without inventing implementation (SRC-1, README.md; the object records above).
The concrete example supplies the strongest content-admission prescription: human review between AI draft and authorized write-back, as annotated on RT-RTE-weekly-review. The AI is expressly not the source updater in that example. General write-back should therefore not be read as permission for autonomous persistence. Human corrections can change status, but no automatic memory-curation job is shipped (SRC-1, docs/conceptual-example.md; RT-ABS-agent-entry).
Maintenance is limited to deliberate stable-rule amendment and freshness/ownership requirements. The inspected governance also requires organizations to address minimization, retention, rollback and authorization revalidation; it does not provide these mechanisms. Cleanup schedules, expiry tests, removal of false Facts, superseded Spec entries, withdrawn rules and propagation to already-issued handoffs remain unresolved. This prevents conclusions about stale memory or revoked authority actually disappearing from future context (SRC-1, docs/governance-principles.md).
No trace-fed automatic transformation or alternative compacted checkpoint is inspectable in the complete public tree. Handoff names decisions/attempts/results but supplies neither raw-to-derived automation nor later reason consumption. Publication CI rejection concerns public repository content, not admission of operational memories or evaluation of their usefulness (RT-RTE-public-surface; SRC-1, .github/workflows/public-surface.yml).
Read-back
The explicit later-consumer role is the next operator inheriting durable state in MEM-BAP-state-continuity. The weekly example narrows this to the next review point, but does not implement a caller that reloads either the organizational source or Handoff. This supports intended continuity, not a deployed retrieval route or observed activation (SRC-1, docs/governance-principles.md, docs/conceptual-example.md).
Pin and revised rules are intended to constrain later decisions; Spec organizes current work; Facts supplies attributed observations. None has a published selector, targeting key, ranked search, automatic push trigger, request API, context budget or delivery mechanism. Static reference documents read by a human are not themselves use-accumulated read-back memory. The working-context warning against oversized prompts does not show which material is omitted or remains reachable (SRC-1, README.md, docs/dla-model.md).
Authority remains separate from access: retrieved information is not automatically current, true or permitted. Even delivery of a Pin rule cannot establish action authorization, and even a persisted approved status cannot demonstrate that a later draft used it. No evidence supports improved future capacity solely from intended persistence (SRC-1, docs/dla-model.md, docs/governance-principles.md).
Integration issues
- Corrections to supplied facts: none. Direct source reads preserve the runtime's distinction between a draft-only AI and later authorized recording, and between a non-executable operational example and executable publication CI.
- Possible duplicate declarations: none with supplied records. The five objects have no runtime object counterpart. Their overlaps with RT-RTE-weekly-review and RT-RTE-rule-amendment are object/route relationships, not identity. MEM-BAP-state-continuity differs from RT-BAP-action-authority in consumer effect and channel.
- Whether the authorized source implements Facts or Spec, and whether it also stores Handoff, is unresolved. The example and artifact table never make that mapping (SRC-1,
README.md,docs/conceptual-example.md). Preserve MEM-OBJ-authorized-source separately; do not merge storage or admission claims across those objects. - Initial writers and admission for MEM-OBJ-pin, MEM-OBJ-spec, MEM-OBJ-handoff and MEM-OBJ-facts remain unspecified. The weekly reviewer's control cannot be generalized to every write. Subsequent rule ownership remains a supported requirement despite unknown initialization (SRC-1,
README.md,docs/governance-principles.md). - Storage, retention, rejection propagation, selectors, delivery, budgets and actual later consumers remain uninspected implementation facts for the same objects and MEM-BAP-state-continuity. No supplied execution closes those chains. This prevents claims of working reload, enforced withdrawal, trace learning or demonstrated benefit, not a faithful account of prescribed continuity.
Limitations and checks
Source identity and HEAD were rechecked against the supplied boundary. The complete tracked-tree listing and direct public-reference/CI reads challenge both an overbroad absence of all executable material and an overstrong inference of implemented memory from state-artifact names. The report uses the supplied memory type, worker rules and record contract; it neither adds sources nor inspects other runs.
The unpublished implementation, external kits, actual operational content, opaque model internals and absence of supplied traces prevent implementation, activation, efficacy and causal-attribution conclusions. No observed consumer demonstrates that retained reasons or outcomes changed later behavior. These limits remain local to the public frozen artifact.
Validation: deterministic validate-output passed for this invocation; this checks structure, identity and quotation occurrence, not semantic support or operational effectiveness.
