Epistemic-architecture lens — RUN AGS-20260821-sequentialthinking
Logical record 7. Produced by executing
kb/instructions/analyse-external-system-epistemic-architecture.md inside this run's frozen
boundary, under the step-7.3 wrapper rules.
Wrapper compliance. No source was reacquired, refreshed, or widened; /home/zby/llm/servers
was not mutated. All reads were targeted reads of the four in-boundary files at 2ecb382.
Canonical SRC-*/CMP-*/OBJ-*/RTE-*/CLM-*/ABS-*/BAP-* IDs are cited, never minted;
new records are proposed as EPI-n in §7 with concrete identities. No publication decision, no
system-wide epistemic grade, score, oracle, or unqualified verdict is made here.
Vocabulary separation. Every architectural status value below belongs to the method's own
namespace (implemented / observed, implementation uninspected / doctrine only /
no route found within boundary / not determinable). None of them is a conclusion-status
value in the wrapping instruction's separate vocabulary, and none may be rewritten into it.
Sub-part notation. Where the method's split rule requires separating a heterogeneous
registered object, this file uses dotted sub-anchors of the canonical ID (OBJ-3.thought,
OBJ-6.derived), following the precedent already set in lens-dispositions.md. This extends a
registered ID; it does not open a parallel namespace. Where one registered route performs
several functions, the method's linked-row rule is applied by emitting several rows that all
carry the same canonical route ID, labelled (a), (b), (c) in the route-function field.
Step-3 early-branch decision (recorded before continuing)
The method's step 3 offers three branches. The decision here is branch three — "Otherwise, continue" — and the reasoning is recorded because both other branches are near misses.
Branch one (storage/retrieval/serving only) does not apply. Its antecedent is a conjunction:
the inventory shows only storage, retrieval, serving, or direct use, and there is no
knowledge-production claim. The first conjunct is close to true — the route profile is
retention-dominant (RTE-6, RTE-7), and ABS-3 establishes that retained content is never
read back. But the second conjunct is plainly false: CLM-1, CLM-2, CLM-3 and especially
CLM-4 are knowledge-production and warrant claims, and CLM-4 is in the README's own system
voice. A conjunctive antecedent with one false conjunct does not fire. Taking this branch would
have suppressed exactly the claim comparison the run needs.
Branch two (claim with no implemented or observed route) does not apply either. Its
antecedent requires that no implemented or observed route was found. Implemented material routes
were found, and some of them bear on the claims: RTE-7 is an implemented route bearing on
CLM-6; RTE-6 is an implemented route bearing on CLM-7; RTE-4 is an implemented
check-and-disposition route on truth-apt input; RTE-8 is an implemented content-emission route.
The branch is a shortcut for a claim standing on nothing at all, and it terminates the analysis
with "then stop." Firing it here would have discarded the implemented retention, checking,
admission, and authority routes that the analysis question explicitly asks about, and would have
left RTE-5's content transformation unclassified.
The claim-specific reading of branch two — "no implemented route for this claim" — is true for
CLM-1–CLM-4 and false for CLM-5–CLM-7. A branch that fires on some claims and not others
cannot be a whole-analysis early stop. The correct handling is to continue through steps 4–9 and
record the per-claim absence in output 5, which is what branch two's content asks for anyway
(claimed phases marked doctrine only, unobserved candidate phases no instance observed). That
treatment is applied inside output 4 without terminating the analysis.
Scoped-absence guard. Every absence recorded below is scoped to search boundary B0 (the
four subtree files at 2ecb382, each read in full, plus targeted symbol searches recorded in
ABS-1–ABS-10). No absence here is expanded into a claim that no informal, external, or
unobserved route exists. In particular, the host and the model are declared external; their
exclusion is a scope boundary, and an intentionally operational or scaffolding scope is not
treated as product failure.
1. Source-and-claim boundary
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| system | The sequentialthinking MCP server — subtree src/sequentialthinking of github.com/modelcontextprotocol/servers, distributed as npm package @modelcontextprotocol/server-sequential-thinking. Reused verbatim from evidence-packet.md §2; not re-derived. |
| reviewed revision/version | 2ecb382a02d7921511180dfbadcef24eb66a052f (commit date 2024-12-06). Working tree clean. Analysis cutoff 2026-08-21; the boundary predates it by ~20 months. Note two internal version identities: the MCP Server declares version: "0.2.0" (SRC-1:240), the distributed package declares 0.6.2 (SRC-3:3) — see EPI-5. |
| declared scope and excluded components | Included (per packet §2): CMP-1–CMP-9, plus OBJ-1/OBJ-2 as the only outbound context-selection surface. Excluded, with the conclusion each exclusion prevents: the MCP host → prevents any claim about how or whether the descriptor reaches model context, or about host-side schema enforcement/retry; the host LLM that authors thought values → prevents any claim about what reasoning actually occurs, whether hypotheses are generated or verified, or whether tool availability changes behavior; @modelcontextprotocol/sdk 0.5.0 internals (SRC-6, absent from checkout) → prevents any claim about wire framing, dispatch ordering, concurrency, or pre-handler schema validation; chalk → no material prevention; remaining monorepo siblings → no material prevention (no cross-import). Boundary kind: whole-artifact for the deployed server; not whole-system for the "sequential thinking" reasoning loop. No conclusion about that loop as a whole is licensed. |
| analysis question | Within this boundary: which material routes handle truth-apt content; what transformation, checking, disposition, retention, and integration do they implement; what epistemic, operational, and behavioral authority do they carry; and how do CLM-1–CLM-10 compare against the routes actually found? |
| assessed route families | All thirteen registered routes: server lifecycle (RTE-1, RTE-12); tool advertisement (RTE-2); call admission and dispatch (RTE-3, RTE-11); envelope checking and disposition (RTE-4, RTE-10); content transformation (RTE-5, RTE-9); retention (RTE-6, RTE-7); observability emission (RTE-8); build/distribution lineage (RTE-13). Also assessed as evidenced absences: content evaluation (ABS-5), revision linkage (ABS-6), scheduling/termination (ABS-7), retrieval/read-back (ABS-3), filtering/selection (ABS-9), configuration (ABS-1), persistence (ABS-2), capability surface (ABS-10). |
| unassessed route families | SDK transport, framing, dispatch ordering, and any pre-handler schema validation (SRC-6, uninspected — this is the single most consequential gap for RTE-4's marginal contribution); host-side context assembly and descriptor delivery; the external model's own reasoning; the npm publish/registry pipeline downstream of RTE-13's local build config; the rest of the monorepo. No system-complete conclusion is made about these families. |
| source register | SRC-1 → src/sequentialthinking/index.ts @ 2ecb382, full file, 278 lines — implementation. SRC-1a → index.ts:135-188, the tool description string — implementation as to the fact that this text ships, doctrine/design as to its assertions about behavior. SRC-2 → README.md @ 2ecb382, 63 lines — doctrine/design. SRC-3 → package.json @ 2ecb382 — implementation (packaging/build). SRC-4 → tsconfig.json + root tsconfig.json — implementation (build). SRC-5 → repo-root package.json — implementation (workspace). SRC-6 → @modelcontextprotocol/sdk 0.5.0, pinned exact — no evidence layer assigned; uninspected, node_modules/ absent. SRC-7 → git metadata over the subtree — implementation (provenance). Reused from packet §3; not re-derived. |
| missing evidence → conclusion prevented | (i) ABS-8: no test, fixture, trace, log, or run artifact anywhere in the boundary (git ls-files → exactly 4 files; dotfile-inclusive listing → same 4) → prevents every observed candidate state and every causal support in this analysis; every lifecycle phase field in output 4 is no instance observed, and output 5 records no observed-run and no causal support for any claim. (ii) SRC-6 uninspected → prevents any claim that RTE-4 is the first validation a call meets, and therefore prevents quantifying RTE-4's marginal checking contribution over SDK-side inputSchema enforcement, if any. (iii) Host excluded → prevents any claim that OBJ-1's advisory instructions ever enter model context; BAP-1's delivery step is an affordance only. (iv) Model excluded → prevents any claim about whether hypotheses are generated, verified, revised, or filtered anywhere in the deployed pair. (v) RTE-13 + SRC-2:47-59 recommend unpinned npx -y launch → prevents any claim that a deployment following the documented configuration runs the analysed revision. (vi) No specification, comment, or test fixes the semantics of totalThoughts → prevents deciding whether RTE-5 is entailed derivation or ampliative conjecture (output 4 records it indeterminate). |
| system knowledge-production/warrant claims | Found, and consequential. CLM-1 (SRC-1a:154, also :166, :184), CLM-2 (SRC-1a:155, :167, :185), CLM-3 (SRC-1a:157, :187), CLM-4 (SRC-2:12), CLM-5 (SRC-2:9, SRC-1a:150), CLM-6 (SRC-2:10), CLM-7 (SRC-1a:145, SRC-2:38), CLM-8 (SRC-1a:146, SRC-2:39), CLM-9 (SRC-2:16), CLM-10 (SRC-1a:136-137). Voice ambiguity carried forward, not resolved: CLM-1, CLM-2, CLM-3, CLM-5, CLM-10 sit inside a string addressed to the model in the second person; whether they predicate of the server, of the model using the server, or of the pair is not settled by the text. CLM-4 and CLM-6 are in the README's system voice and do predicate of the tool. Output 5 records this as a mismatch/unknown per claim; no reading is chosen. |
2. Epistemic-object inventory
One row per operative part inside the material-route boundary. Heterogeneous registered objects are split into dotted sub-parts where content, form, checks, producers, consumers, or authority paths differ.
| object/part id | system name and description | representational form | source/input and lineage | producer/consumer | candidate truth-apt content or none | claimed role | evidence source ID and local anchor | gap/limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
OBJ-1 |
Tool description prose — 54 lines: purpose, "When to use", "Key features", "Parameters explained", 11-item "You should:" list | natural-language | authored upstream, compiled into the shipped artifact by RTE-13; no in-boundary route produces or edits it |
producer: none in boundary (static literal). Consumer: host, then model, via RTE-2/BAP-1 |
yes — its "Key features" bullets assert that hypotheses are generated and verified and that a correct answer is provided (CLM-1, CLM-2, CLM-3, CLM-10); those are truth-or-false over a named scope |
the server's only context-selection surface toward the model; carries all its advisory instruction force | SRC-1a:135-188 |
subject of its second-person assertions unresolved (voice ambiguity); nothing in the boundary checks any of its claims; delivery to model context is host-side and uninspected |
OBJ-2 |
Tool input JSON Schema — 9 properties, 4 required, minimum: 1 bounds on the four integer fields |
symbolic | static object literal; compiled by RTE-13 |
producer: none in boundary. Consumer: host/model at call time (RTE-2), and mirrored by RTE-4 |
none — a constraint contract, not a proposition | interface contract; the advertised half of BAP-4 |
SRC-1:189-234 |
the minimum: 1 bounds are advertised but not re-checked by RTE-4, which uses truthiness instead; whether the SDK enforces inputSchema pre-handler is uninspected (SRC-6) |
OBJ-3.thought |
The thought string of one validated call |
natural-language | authored by the external model; enters via RTE-3, admitted by RTE-4 |
producer: external model (excluded). Consumers: RTE-6 (retain), RTE-7 (conditional bucket), RTE-8 (render to stderr) |
yes — documented content classes include "Hypothesis generation", "Hypothesis verification", "Questions about previous decisions", "Realizations about needing more analysis" (SRC-1a:160-167) |
the substantive payload the whole tool exists to carry | SRC-1:14, :32-34, :46; classes at SRC-1a:160-167 |
checked only for presence and JS string type (ABS-5); never read back after storage (ABS-3); its author and warrant are outside the boundary |
OBJ-3.envelope-required |
thoughtNumber, totalThoughts, nextThoughtNeeded |
structured scalars | authored by the external model; totalThoughts may be overwritten in place by RTE-5 |
producer: model, then RTE-5 for totalThoughts. Consumers: RTE-8 (header), RTE-9 (echo) |
yes — assertions about position in a sequence, estimated total, and whether more thinking is needed | sequence bookkeeping the tool advertises as adjustable | SRC-1:35-42, :47-49, :90-92, :110-112 |
checked for truthiness + JS type only, so 0 is rejected with a type-shaped message (EPI-1); totalThoughts is silently rewritten and then echoed unmarked (EPI-3); nextThoughtNeeded is copied through and never branched on (ABS-7) |
OBJ-3.envelope-optional |
isRevision, revisesThought, branchFromThought, branchId, needsMoreThoughts |
structured scalars | authored by the external model; cast, not checked (as assertions) |
producer: model. Consumers: RTE-7 (branchFromThought+branchId only), RTE-8 (isRevision, revisesThought, branchFromThought, branchId); needsMoreThoughts has no consumer (ABS-4) |
yes — revisesThought asserts a relation to an earlier thought; branchFromThought/branchId assert a branch structure |
the advertised revision and branching affordance (CLM-5, CLM-6) |
SRC-1:50-54, :64-73, :96-101 |
any JS type may be supplied and will be stored and rendered; revisesThought may name a nonexistent thought and nothing checks it (ABS-6); render and state can disagree (EPI-2) |
OBJ-4 |
thoughtHistory: ThoughtData[] — append-only ordered array, one entry per admitted call, process lifetime |
structured record array | accumulated by RTE-6 from OBJ-3 |
producer: RTE-6. Consumer: exactly one read, .length at SRC-1:114 |
yes, derivatively — the array's length is a true-or-false statement about the process's own store; its contents are truth-apt but never consumed | the retained "context over multiple steps" (CLM-7) |
SRC-1:26, :94, :114 |
content is never read back (ABS-3); unbounded, no eviction, no TTL, no session key; lost on RTE-12 or process exit (ABS-2) |
OBJ-5 |
branches: Record<string, ThoughtData[]> — keyed buckets, lazily created |
keyed structured records | regrouping of the same OBJ-3 references by RTE-7 |
producer: RTE-7. Consumer: exactly one read, Object.keys() at SRC-1:113 |
yes, derivatively — the key set is a true-or-false statement about which branchId values have been seen |
the "branch into alternative paths" affordance (CLM-6) |
SRC-1:27, :96-101, :113 |
stores the same object reference already in OBJ-4, so a branch thought is retained twice; bucket contents are never read; no route compares, ranks, or selects among branches (ABS-9) |
OBJ-6.echoed |
thoughtNumber, totalThoughts, nextThoughtNeeded inside the success payload |
structured record → JSON text in an MCP text block | verbatim re-emission of OBJ-3.envelope-required after RTE-5 may have mutated totalThoughts |
producer: RTE-9. Consumer: host, then model (BAP-2) |
yes — assertions about the call just made | feedback to the caller | SRC-1:110-112 |
totalThoughts may differ from what the caller sent, with no flag distinguishing echoed from rewritten (EPI-3) |
OBJ-6.derived |
branches: string[], thoughtHistoryLength: number inside the success payload |
structured record → JSON text | computed from OBJ-5/OBJ-4 at SRC-1:113-114 |
producer: RTE-9. Consumer: host, then model (BAP-2) |
yes — and warranted within a tight domain: these are entailed statements about this process's own store | the only cross-invocation signal the server returns | SRC-1:113-114 |
scope is the process singleton, not a conversation or session; a consumer reading them as conversation-scoped exceeds their warrant (EPI-4) |
OBJ-7 |
Error payload {error, status:'failed'} with isError: true |
structured record → JSON text | produced by RTE-10 from a caught Error; separately by RTE-11 as plain text |
producer: RTE-10, RTE-11. Consumer: host, then model |
yes — the message asserts why the call failed | rejection feedback | SRC-1:118-129, :260-266 |
for thought: "", thoughtNumber: 0, totalThoughts: 0 the message asserts a type error where the type is correct — a produced proposition that is false in a reachable input class (EPI-1) |
OBJ-8 |
Rendered thought box — chalk-coloured, unicode-boxed, carrying the full thought text plus a revision/branch label |
natural-language display | reformatted from OBJ-3 by CMP-7 |
producer: RTE-8. Consumer: human log reader only (BAP-3); no in-boundary consumer |
yes — carries the full truth-apt thought text plus label assertions ("Revision (revising thought N)", "Branch (from thought N, ID: X)") | observability | SRC-1:58-84, :104 |
the only route by which thought content leaves the process — and it goes to stderr, never to the model; the label can assert a branch that OBJ-5 does not record, and can suppress a branch that it does (EPI-2); unconditional and untunable (ABS-1) |
OBJ-9 |
README doctrine text — Features, Tool, Usage, Configuration | natural-language | authored upstream; repo file, not shipped in the npm package (files: ["dist"], SRC-3:13-15) |
producer: none in boundary. Consumer: human operator (BAP-5) |
yes — CLM-4, CLM-6, CLM-9 are in its system voice and predicate of the tool |
product doctrine and setup instruction | SRC-2 |
CLM-9 is decidably false against SRC-1:134/:256 (see output 5); its config snippet is unpinned, breaking revision lineage |
OBJ-10 |
Distribution manifest / package identity — version: 0.6.2, bin, files, deps |
symbolic config | repo file; drives RTE-13 |
producer: none in boundary. Consumer: npm/npx, then host |
yes — asserts the artifact's identity and version | packaging identity | SRC-3 |
diverges from the version the server reports over MCP (SRC-1:240, 0.2.0) — EPI-5; declares an unused yargs dependency (ABS-1) |
Omitted route classes and what their omission prevents. Transport framing and dispatch
ordering are omitted because SRC-6 is uninspected — this prevents quantifying RTE-4's
marginal checking contribution. Host-side descriptor assembly is omitted as declared-external —
this prevents any claim that OBJ-1 reaches model context. The model's own generation is omitted
as declared-external — this prevents any claim about reasoning, hypothesis formation, or
filtering in the deployed pair. Freshness and recovery plumbing is inventoried only through
RTE-12 and RTE-13, because those two are the only ones that change lineage or bound a
consequential claim.
3. Authority-route ledger
Compact records, one consequential function per record. RTE-4, RTE-8, RTE-9, and RTE-10
each perform more than one function and are emitted as linked rows carrying the same canonical
route ID. Checking is never merged with disposition; retention is never merged with lifecycle
integration.
RTE-1 — route function: other — process-lifecycle establishment, which fixes the scope and
horizon of all retained state.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-4, OBJ-5 (their container).
content/update relation: no content change.
transition or check target: none — no proposition is assessed.
evaluator/condition and domain: none.
activation and timing: once, at module load, before runServer() is called.
possible or observed result: a single SequentialThinkingServer instance exists for the
process; observed result: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: structural — every later call shares this one instance.
epistemic authority and scope: none. Establishes no proposition.
operational authority: permits all later state writes to land in one shared store; blocks
nothing; no session or request partitioning exists.
behavioral-authority path: none direct; it is the precondition for BAP-2's derived counters
having process-global rather than conversation-local scope.
evidence: SRC-1:249, :237-247, :269-273.
claim IDs: none directly; bears on CLM-7.
mismatch marker: none.
gap/limit: whether a host multiplexes several conversations onto one process is outside the
boundary; the code affords it and nothing prevents it.
RTE-2 (a) — route function: other — instruction/affordance publication (the server's only
outbound context-selection act).
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-1.
content/update relation: no content change — a static literal returned unmodified; selection
is degenerate (same descriptor every time, regardless of request, session, or accumulated state).
transition or check target: none — nothing is checked; the handler ignores its request argument.
evaluator/condition and domain: none.
activation and timing: on every host tools/list request.
possible or observed result: {tools: [SEQUENTIAL_THINKING_TOOL]}; observed result: none
(ABS-8).
implemented force: advisory — a "When to use this tool" list and an 11-item imperative
"You should:" list, including "Generate a solution hypothesis when appropriate" (SRC-1a:184)
and "Verify the hypothesis based on the Chain of Thought steps" (SRC-1a:185).
epistemic authority and scope: none licensed by the boundary. OBJ-1 asserts CLM-1,
CLM-2, CLM-3, CLM-10, and no route in the boundary checks, tests, or produces evidence for
any of them; the boundary contains no evidence that would license reliance on them. Publication
of a claim is not warrant for it.
operational authority: permits nothing and blocks nothing on its own — the host decides whether
and how the text enters model context.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-1 — consumer: host LLM; channel: tools/list response, placed
into context by the host; force: advisory instruction; horizon: as long as the host keeps the
descriptor in context (host-determined, outside boundary).
evidence: SRC-1:251-253, SRC-1a:135-188.
claim IDs: CLM-1, CLM-2, CLM-3, CLM-5, CLM-7, CLM-8, CLM-10.
mismatch marker: mismatch/unknown — this is the physical location of every unimplemented
knowledge-production claim; whether the claims predicate of the server, the model, or the pair is
unresolved.
gap/limit: the delivery step is uninspected. The server affords; the host disposes. A tool
schema present in context is not tool execution.
RTE-2 (b) — route function: other — interface-contract publication.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-2.
content/update relation: no content change.
transition or check target: none at publication time.
evaluator/condition and domain: none — the schema states a contract; it does not evaluate.
activation and timing: same tools/list response.
possible or observed result: the caller learns the 9 properties, 4 required fields, and
minimum: 1 bounds; observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: advisory at this route — enforcement is RTE-4's, and the two do not
agree (the schema's minimum: 1 is never re-checked; RTE-4 uses truthiness).
epistemic authority and scope: none — a constraint contract is not truth-apt.
operational authority: shapes what a well-behaved caller sends; blocks nothing here.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-4's advertised half; the enforcing half is RTE-4.
evidence: SRC-1:189-234.
claim IDs: none.
mismatch marker: none at claim level; note the schema/validator divergence under RTE-4 (a).
gap/limit: whether the SDK pre-validates against this schema is uninspected (SRC-6).
RTE-3 — route function: operational admission/selection/consumption — admission of a
call to the processing path.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: the inbound tools/call request; on success, becomes OBJ-3.
content/update relation: no content change.
transition or check target: the proposition "this request names the tool sequentialthinking".
evaluator/condition and domain: a string-equality test in the dispatch handler; domain: exact
tool-name match only.
activation and timing: every tools/call.
possible or observed result: dispatch to processThought, or fall through to RTE-11;
observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing for admission.
epistemic authority and scope: none — names a tool, not a proposition about content.
operational authority: permits the call to reach state-writing routes; blocks every other name.
behavioral-authority path: none of its own; feeds BAP-2 or the RTE-11 error path.
evidence: SRC-1:255-259.
claim IDs: CLM-9.
mismatch marker: mismatch — the equality target is "sequentialthinking" while OBJ-9
names the tool sequential_thinking (SRC-2:16). See output 5, CLM-9.
gap/limit: none within the boundary.
RTE-4 (a) — route function: check/evidence production.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-3.thought, OBJ-3.envelope-required.
content/update relation: no content change (this row produces the pass/fail evidence only).
transition or check target: named before the evaluator — four propositions about the call
envelope: (1) thought is present-and-truthy and of JS type string; (2) thoughtNumber is
truthy and of JS type number; (3) totalThoughts is truthy and of JS type number;
(4) nextThoughtNeeded is of JS type boolean. The thought's content is not a target of any
predicate (ABS-5).
evaluator/condition and domain: a deterministic in-process program predicate
(validateThoughtData); domain: JavaScript runtime types plus truthiness. Not a model, not a
human, not a proof, not a measurement.
activation and timing: first operation inside processThought, before any state write.
possible or observed result: pass → a ThoughtData record is constructed; fail → throw.
Observed result: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing — this is the only enforcing surface in the whole boundary
(BAP-4), and what it enforces is envelope shape, not content.
epistemic authority and scope: warrants exactly this and nothing more: at the moment of the
call, the four named fields were present with the stated JS types and were truthy where checked.
It licenses no reliance on the thought's truth, quality, relevance, consistency with earlier
thoughts, or relation to any hypothesis. OBJ-3.envelope-optional is cast, not checked — any
JS type may pass into storage and rendering.
operational authority: permits the call to proceed to RTE-5–RTE-9; blocks it otherwise.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-4 — consumer: the calling host/model at call time; channel:
the advertised schema plus this independent re-validation; force: enforcing; horizon: every call
for the process lifetime.
evidence: SRC-1:29-56, :88.
claim IDs: CLM-2, CLM-4 (as the routes those claims would need and do not get).
mismatch marker: mismatch — CLM-2/CLM-4 claim hypothesis verification; the only check in
the boundary is a four-field envelope predicate (ABS-5).
gap/limit: the falsy checks reject thought: "", thoughtNumber: 0, totalThoughts: 0, and
report them as type errors (EPI-1); the schema's minimum: 1 bounds are advertised but never
re-checked here; whether the SDK already validated is uninspected (SRC-6), so this route's
marginal contribution is not determinable.
RTE-4 (b) — route function: disposition/acceptance — envelope admission only.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-3 as a whole.
content/update relation: no content change.
transition or check target: the disposition transition admit → continue, or reject → RTE-10.
evaluator/condition and domain: consumes RTE-4 (a)'s result; domain unchanged.
activation and timing: immediately on the check result.
possible or observed result: admitted (proceeds to retention) or rejected (throws; not
appended). Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing.
epistemic authority and scope: this is an admission decision, not an acceptance of a claim.
It is evidence-consuming against a named criterion, but the criterion (envelope shape) has no
evidential relation to the truth of OBJ-3.thought. No acceptance transition over thought content
exists anywhere in the boundary (ABS-5). Admission licenses reliance on nothing about content.
operational authority: permits retention and response construction; on reject, blocks all state
writes so the store stays clean.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-4 (reject side surfaces as OBJ-7 with isError: true).
evidence: SRC-1:88, :94, :118-129.
claim IDs: CLM-2, CLM-4.
mismatch marker: mismatch — retention follows admission with no acceptance step in between;
do not read admission as acceptance.
gap/limit: the "state stays clean on error" property holds for validation errors only.
SRC-1:94 (push) precedes SRC-1:103-104 (render); any throw from the render or response
construction would be caught at SRC-1:118 after the record was already appended. See §7(b).
RTE-4 (c) — route function: content transformation.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-3 (all sub-parts).
content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: acquisition/import. Source warrant:
unknown. The content is authored by the excluded host LLM; nothing in the boundary records,
transmits, requests, or assesses its warrant, and ABS-8 supplies no instance to inspect.
transition or check target: not a check — the construction of an in-process record from an
untrusted unknown argument object.
evaluator/condition and domain: none for this function.
activation and timing: on admission.
possible or observed result: one ThoughtData record per admitted call; observed: none.
implemented force: structural.
epistemic authority and scope: none — import neither adds nor subtracts warrant, and no warrant
was attached on entry. Report this content as acquired, not produced.
operational authority: makes the content available to RTE-5–RTE-9.
behavioral-authority path: none of its own.
evidence: SRC-1:45-55.
claim IDs: CLM-1 (the content class the claim concerns arrives here rather than being
generated here).
mismatch marker: mismatch/unknown — the server acquires content of the claimed class; it
generates none.
gap/limit: SRC-1:50-54 are as casts, so the imported optional fields carry no type guarantee.
RTE-5 — route function: content transformation.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-3.envelope-required (totalThoughts).
content/update relation: indeterminate. Under the reading "repair a violated lower bound",
totalThoughts ≥ thoughtNumber is entailed. Under the documented reading — "Estimated total
thoughts needed" (SRC-1:206) and "Current estimate of thoughts needed (can be adjusted up/down)"
(SRC-1a:170) — the assignment sets the estimate to exactly thoughtNumber, and that specific
value does not follow from the inputs; that is an ampliative substitution. No comment, spec, or
test in the boundary settles the semantics. Remaining classifications: entailed derivation or
ampliative conjecture.
transition or check target: the proposition "the total estimate is at least the current index".
evaluator/condition and domain: an inline arithmetic comparison; domain: integer comparison.
This is the condition for a rewrite, not an evaluation of a candidate.
activation and timing: after admission, before the append at SRC-1:94, so the clamped
value is what gets stored.
possible or observed result: totalThoughts overwritten in place, or untouched. Observed: none
(ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing on the stored and echoed value; silent.
epistemic authority and scope: under the bound-repair reading, warrants only the arithmetic
proposition, and only from a premise (thoughtNumber) whose own warrant is unknown; under the
estimate reading, warrants nothing. Either way, no warrant transfers to any claim about the
reasoning process.
operational authority: changes what is retained and what is returned; blocks a caller's
downward adjustment of totalThoughts below the current thoughtNumber.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-2 — the rewritten value is echoed to the model by RTE-9 with
no marker distinguishing it from the value the caller sent (EPI-3).
evidence: SRC-1:90-92, echoed at :111.
claim IDs: CLM-10; and the unregistered claim-candidate at SRC-1a:149/:170 ("adjust
total_thoughts up or down") proposed as EPI-6.
mismatch marker: partial mismatch — the documentation says the value can be adjusted up or
down; this route silently overrides downward adjustment whenever thoughtNumber > totalThoughts.
gap/limit: classification cannot be decided without a semantics for totalThoughts; recorded
indeterminate in output 4.
RTE-6 — route function: retention. Not lifecycle integration and not acceptance.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-3 → OBJ-4.
content/update relation: no content change — the validated record is pushed by reference,
unmodified.
transition or check target: none — no proposition is assessed at this route.
evaluator/condition and domain: none. Unconditional on every admitted call.
activation and timing: immediately after RTE-5, on every admitted call.
possible or observed result: array length increases by one. Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: structural; the write always happens.
epistemic authority and scope: none. Retention is not acceptance and does not license
reliance on the retained content. Nothing marks a retained record as endorsed, checked, current,
or superseded.
operational authority: increments the one value that later calls can observe
(thoughtHistoryLength); permits nothing else, because the content is never read (ABS-3).
behavioral-authority path: indirect and thin — only via OBJ-6.derived on a later call
(BAP-2); the retained content has no behavioral path at all.
evidence: SRC-1:94, read at :114.
claim IDs: CLM-7.
mismatch marker: partial mismatch — "maintain context over multiple steps" is implemented as
retention with no retrieval; the context is held and never served.
gap/limit: unbounded, no eviction, no compaction, no TTL, no session key; lost at process exit
(ABS-2, RTE-12).
RTE-7 — route function: retention (into a second structure).
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-3 → OBJ-5.
content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: non-ampliative reshaping — keyed grouping
by branchId, with lazy bucket creation; the record itself is unchanged and is stored by
reference, so a branch thought is retained twice.
transition or check target: none.
evaluator/condition and domain: a truthiness condition, branchFromThought && branchId both
truthy. This is a routing condition, not an evaluation of a candidate. Note branchFromThought: 0
is falsy and therefore never buckets.
activation and timing: conditional, on every admitted call, after RTE-6.
possible or observed result: a bucket is created and/or appended, or nothing happens. Observed:
none (ABS-8).
implemented force: structural.
epistemic authority and scope: none. Grouping is not endorsement; a branch key licenses no claim
that the grouped thoughts constitute an alternative reasoning path, and nothing compares, ranks,
or selects among buckets (ABS-9).
operational authority: determines the key set that RTE-9 reports; permits nothing else,
because bucket contents are never read (ABS-3).
behavioral-authority path: via OBJ-6.derived.branches on a later call (BAP-2), keys only.
evidence: SRC-1:96-101, read at :113.
claim IDs: CLM-6.
mismatch marker: partial mismatch — grouping is implemented; "alternative paths of reasoning"
as an epistemic operation is not.
gap/limit: branchId is cast unchecked, so a non-string key is possible; isRevision: true does
not suppress bucketing, while the renderer does suppress the branch label (EPI-2).
RTE-8 (a) — route function: content transformation.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-3 → OBJ-8.
content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: non-ampliative reshaping — the full
thought text is preserved verbatim (padding only; border.length - 2 ≥ thought.length by
construction, so no truncation) and wrapped with a header derived from the envelope fields.
transition or check target: none.
evaluator/condition and domain: a three-way label selection: isRevision → else if
(branchFromThought) → else. Domain: truthiness of two fields.
activation and timing: every admitted call, after both state writes.
possible or observed result: a boxed string. Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: none on any in-boundary consumer.
epistemic authority and scope: none. The label is an unchecked restatement of caller-supplied
fields; "revising thought N" asserts a relation nothing verified (ABS-6).
operational authority: none.
behavioral-authority path: feeds BAP-3.
evidence: SRC-1:58-84.
claim IDs: CLM-5, CLM-6.
mismatch marker: mismatch — the render can assert a branch (branchFromThought set,
branchId absent → "ID: undefined") that RTE-7 did not record, and can suppress a branch label
for a call that RTE-7 did record (isRevision truthy plus both branch fields set). See EPI-2.
gap/limit: the cast-unchecked optional fields are interpolated directly, so arbitrary types can
appear in the rendered assertion.
RTE-8 (b) — route function: other — display emission to an out-of-band human consumer.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-8.
content/update relation: no content change.
transition or check target: none.
evaluator/condition and domain: none.
activation and timing: unconditional on every admitted call; untunable (ABS-1).
possible or observed result: one console.error write. Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: none inside the boundary — a recorded result with no consequential
in-boundary consumer has no implemented force.
epistemic authority and scope: none licensed within the boundary.
operational authority: none — nothing reads stderr inside the boundary.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-3 — consumer: human operator / log reader; channel: process
stderr; force: display only; horizon: process lifetime or whatever the host does with stderr.
evidence: SRC-1:103-104.
claim IDs: none.
mismatch marker: none.
gap/limit: this is the only route by which thought content leaves the process, and its
consumer is a human, not the model. What the host does with the child process's stderr is
outside the boundary.
RTE-9 (a) — route function: content transformation.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-4, OBJ-5 → OBJ-6.derived.
content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: entailed derivation. Object.keys(branches)
and thoughtHistory.length follow from the store's own state by the formal semantics of the
operations.
transition or check target: the propositions "these branchId keys exist in this process's
bucket map" and "this process has appended N records".
evaluator/condition and domain: the JS runtime; domain: the process's own heap state.
activation and timing: every admitted call, at response construction.
possible or observed result: two values. Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: informational.
epistemic authority and scope: this is the one genuinely warranted derivation in the
boundary, and its domain is tight: it warrants claims about this process's bookkeeping, from
premises that are the store's own directly-inspectable state. It warrants nothing about the
problem being reasoned about, about the quality or truth of any thought, or about how many
thoughts this conversation contributed — the store is a process-global singleton with no
session partition (SRC-1:249), so reading thoughtHistoryLength as conversation-scoped exceeds
its warrant (EPI-4).
operational authority: supplies the only cross-invocation signal the server returns; permits or
blocks nothing.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-2 — consumer: host LLM; channel: response text block; force:
informational only, obliges nothing; horizon: one turn unless the host retains it.
evidence: SRC-1:113-114.
claim IDs: CLM-6, CLM-7.
mismatch marker: partial mismatch — this is the entire realisation of "maintain context":
two scalars, no content (ABS-3).
gap/limit: branch thoughts are counted once in thoughtHistoryLength though stored twice;
revisions are counted identically to fresh thoughts.
RTE-9 (b) — route function: other — response construction and return to host.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-6.echoed + OBJ-6.derived → one MCP text block.
content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: non-ampliative reshaping — verbatim
re-emission of three envelope fields with JSON re-encoding. Lineage caveat: totalThoughts is
re-emitted post-RTE-5, so the value returned may not be the value the caller sent, and no field
distinguishes the two cases (EPI-3).
transition or check target: none.
evaluator/condition and domain: none.
activation and timing: every admitted call.
possible or observed result: one success payload. Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: informational.
epistemic authority and scope: none beyond RTE-9 (a)'s tight bookkeeping domain; the echoed
fields carry the caller's own unwarranted assertions back unchanged (except totalThoughts).
operational authority: returns control to the host; schedules nothing — nextThoughtNeeded
is copied through and never branched on (ABS-7), so nothing requires, requests, or paces a
subsequent call.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-2.
evidence: SRC-1:106-117.
claim IDs: CLM-3, CLM-10.
mismatch marker: mismatch — the payload has no answer, conclusion, verdict, or content field
of any kind; CLM-3's "correct answer" has no output slot in this route.
gap/limit: none within the boundary.
RTE-10 (a) — route function: disposition/acceptance — rejection disposition.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: the inbound call; on this path, no OBJ-3 reaches OBJ-4.
content/update relation: no content change to any retained object.
transition or check target: the transition reject → error response.
evaluator/condition and domain: consumes the thrown Error from RTE-4 (a); domain unchanged.
activation and timing: on any throw inside the try block.
possible or observed result: OBJ-7 returned with isError: true; the call is not retained.
Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing.
epistemic authority and scope: warrants only that an envelope predicate failed. Rejecting a call
says nothing about the thought's truth or quality.
operational authority: blocks retention and blocks response construction for that call.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-4's reject side, surfacing to the model as an error block.
evidence: SRC-1:118-129; ordering at :88, :94.
claim IDs: none.
mismatch marker: none.
gap/limit: the no-retention property is scoped to throws raised before SRC-1:94. See §7(b).
RTE-10 (b) — route function: content transformation.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-7.
content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: entailed derivation — the message is
derived from the predicate that fired.
transition or check target: the proposition asserted by the message, e.g. "thought must be a
string".
evaluator/condition and domain: the failing predicate; domain: JS types plus truthiness.
activation and timing: on rejection.
possible or observed result: one of four fixed messages, or a stringified non-Error throw.
Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: informational.
epistemic authority and scope: warrants that some envelope predicate failed. It does not
warrant the specific diagnosis the message states: for thought: "", thoughtNumber: 0, or
totalThoughts: 0, the message asserts a type error while the supplied type is correct. This is
the method's step-7 separation of formal validity from encoding fidelity — the predicate is
valid, the encoding of its result into natural language is not (EPI-1).
operational authority: none beyond informing the caller.
behavioral-authority path: to the model via the error text block; force: informational.
evidence: SRC-1:32-43, :122-124.
claim IDs: none.
mismatch marker: mismatch — a produced truth-apt proposition that is false in a reachable
input class.
gap/limit: no route in the boundary checks message accuracy; no test exists (ABS-8).
RTE-11 — route function: operational admission/selection/consumption — admission
rejection on unknown tool name.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: the inbound request; produces an OBJ-7-shaped plain-text error.
content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: entailed derivation — "Unknown tool: X" is
entailed by the failed equality and is accurate.
transition or check target: the proposition "the requested tool name is not served here".
evaluator/condition and domain: the same string equality as RTE-3; domain: exact match.
activation and timing: every non-matching tools/call.
possible or observed result: error payload, no state touched. Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing.
epistemic authority and scope: warrants only the name mismatch.
operational authority: blocks the call entirely.
behavioral-authority path: to the model via an error block; force: informational.
evidence: SRC-1:260-266.
claim IDs: CLM-9.
mismatch marker: mismatch — a caller following OBJ-9's documented tool name
sequential_thinking lands here rather than in processThought.
gap/limit: none.
RTE-12 — route function: lineage/freshness/recovery — fatal-failure termination
(and the absence of recovery).
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-4, OBJ-5 (destroyed).
content/update relation: no content change; total loss of retained state.
transition or check target: none — no proposition is assessed.
evaluator/condition and domain: rejection of server.connect(transport).
activation and timing: at startup only.
possible or observed result: stderr message then process.exit(1). No retry, no backoff, no
graceful shutdown, no signal handler. Observed: none (ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing on process lifetime.
epistemic authority and scope: none.
operational authority: terminates everything; all retained content is unrecoverable (ABS-2).
behavioral-authority path: none inside the boundary.
evidence: SRC-1:275-278.
claim IDs: none; bounds CLM-7.
mismatch marker: none.
gap/limit: this fixes the retention horizon at one process lifetime, which caps what
"maintain context over multiple steps" can mean here.
RTE-13 — route function: lineage/freshness/recovery — build and distribution lineage.
architectural status: implemented.
object/candidate id: OBJ-1, OBJ-2, OBJ-10 (what actually ships).
content/update relation: no content change within the boundary.
transition or check target: none.
evaluator/condition and domain: tsc type-checking against SRC-4; domain: TypeScript's type
system, which does not check any of the claims in OBJ-1.
activation and timing: at build/publish time, outside request flow.
possible or observed result: dist/index.js, bin: mcp-server-sequential-thinking,
files: ["dist"] — so OBJ-9 (README) is not shipped in the package. Observed: none
(ABS-8).
implemented force: enforcing on what runs.
epistemic authority and scope: none.
operational authority: determines the deployed artifact.
behavioral-authority path: BAP-5 — consumer: human operator configuring a host; channel: the
README config snippet; force: advisory setup instruction; horizon: until the operator's config
changes.
evidence: SRC-3:10-20, SRC-4, SRC-2:47-59.
claim IDs: none directly.
mismatch marker: mismatch — the documented launch is npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-sequential-thinking
with no version pin, so an operator following OBJ-9 runs whatever is latest, not 2ecb382.
gap/limit: combined with the ~20-month boundary age, this prevents any claim that a
documented-configuration deployment runs the analysed code.
Evidenced-absence rows
These record functions the analysis question requires and the boundary does not supply. Each names its recorded search boundary and invents no evaluator. Every absence is scoped to B0; none is expanded into a claim that no informal, external, or unobserved route exists.

4. Per-object lifecycle disposition
OBJ-3.thought — ampliative lifecycle record
Why the ampliative schema applies. The in-boundary content edge is acquisition/import
(RTE-4 (c)), which is not itself ampliative. But ampliation of the candidate class is
established by the claim evidence: SRC-1a:166-167 names "Hypothesis generation" and "Hypothesis
verification" as content classes of the thought field, and CLM-1 asserts that a solution
hypothesis is generated. A hypothesis is ampliative by definition. Per step 6, the lifecycle is
therefore applied — with declared phases marked doctrine only and, per ABS-8, every observed
candidate state no instance observed.
| Field | Record |
|---|---|
| candidate object ID | OBJ-3.thought |
| relevant route IDs | RTE-2 (doctrine publication), RTE-3, RTE-4 (a)(b)(c), RTE-6, RTE-7, RTE-8, RTE-9; absences ABS-3, ABS-5, ABS-6, ABS-9 |
| transformation | ampliative conjecture — established at the claim/doctrine layer only (SRC-1a:166, CLM-1); the in-boundary edge is acquisition/import with source warrant unknown |
| observation/anomaly | route IDs: none in boundary; doctrine at SRC-1a:163-164 ("Questions about previous decisions", "Realizations about needing more analysis"). architectural status: doctrine only for the declared activity; no route found within boundary for any server-side observation route — the observer, if any, is the excluded model. observed candidate state: no instance observed (ABS-8). evidence: SRC-1a:163-164 (doctrine/design layer). |
| conjecture | route IDs: RTE-2 publishes the instruction to conjecture (SRC-1a:184); RTE-3/RTE-4 (c) acquire an already-formed conjecture. architectural status: doctrine only for generation (CLM-1, SRC-1a:154); the server implements no generation route and declares no sampling capability (ABS-10). observed candidate state: no instance observed (ABS-8). evidence: SRC-1a:154, :166, :184 (doctrine); SRC-1:255-259, :45-55 (implementation of acquisition only). |
| derived consequence | route IDs: none. architectural status: no route found within boundary — no claim declares consequence derivation and no route implements it. observed candidate state: no instance observed. evidence: B0; ABS-5. |
| test/evidence | route IDs: RTE-4 (a) is the only check, and its target is the envelope, not the content (ABS-5); ABS-3 further shows the prior steps a "Chain of Thought" verification would need are never read back. architectural status: doctrine only for the claimed verification (CLM-2, CLM-4); no route found within boundary for any content test. observed candidate state: no instance observed (ABS-8). evidence: SRC-1:29-56 (implementation); SRC-1a:155, :167, :185, SRC-2:12 (doctrine). |
| acceptance | evaluator: none found; none invented. criterion: none over content — the only named criterion in the boundary is envelope shape (RTE-4). intended use: undeclared. route IDs: RTE-4 (b) performs envelope admission, which is not acceptance of the candidate. architectural status: no route found within boundary. observed candidate state: no instance observed (ABS-8). accepted scope: none. evidence: ABS-5; SRC-1:88, :94. |
| lifecycle integration | route IDs: none. Retention (RTE-6, RTE-7) is not integration and is recorded as separate ledger rows; ABS-6 shows nothing links, supersedes, marks, or reorganises. post-acceptance change/consumer: none — there is no acceptance for anything to follow. architectural status: no route found within boundary. observed candidate state: no instance observed (ABS-8; had a candidate been observed, retention-without-acceptance would make this not reached). evidence: ABS-3, ABS-6. |
| missing phase/evidence | Every phase lacks an observed instance (ABS-8: no test, fixture, trace, log, or run artifact in the boundary), so no phase can be evidenced and no causal support exists. The generation, verification, and answer phases additionally lack any implemented route. The two agents that would perform them — host and model — are declared external, so their exclusion prevents any finding about whether those phases occur in the deployed pair. |
OBJ-3.envelope-required.totalThoughts — indeterminate disposition
| Field | Record |
|---|---|
| candidate object ID | OBJ-3.envelope-required.totalThoughts |
| relevant route IDs | RTE-4 (c) (import), RTE-5 (rewrite), RTE-6 (retention of the rewritten value), RTE-9 (b) (echo) |
| transformation | indeterminate |
| classifications still possible | entailed derivation — under a "repair a violated lower bound" reading, totalThoughts ≥ thoughtNumber follows; or ampliative conjecture — under the documented "current estimate of thoughts needed" reading (SRC-1:206, SRC-1a:170), assigning the estimate exactly thoughtNumber asserts a value that does not follow |
| preserved lineage | Not preserved. The caller's value is overwritten in place at SRC-1:90-92, before the append at :94, so the stored record no longer carries what the caller sent; RTE-9 (b) then echoes the rewritten value at :111 with no marker (EPI-3) |
| implemented checks, retention, or use | Check: RTE-4 (a) truthiness + JS-number only. Retention: RTE-6 stores the rewritten value. Use: echoed to the model (BAP-2) and rendered in the stderr header (SRC-1:75). No check of the value's plausibility, monotonicity, or relation to anything |
| current warrant limit | Under either reading, the premise thoughtNumber is imported with unknown warrant, so nothing warranted transfers to any claim about the reasoning process. At most the arithmetic relation is warranted, and only relative to an unwarranted premise |
| evidence needed to decide | A specification, comment, or test fixing the semantics of totalThoughts — none exists in the boundary (ABS-8, and no comment at SRC-1:90-92) |
Non-ampliative and no-candidate dispositions
| candidate object ID | relevant route IDs | transformation | discovery lifecycle | applicable acquisition, lineage, derivation, or update route and warrant | missing evidence/limit |

RTE-2 (a), RTE-13 |
truth-apt transformation: acquisition/import (authored upstream, compiled in) |

The subject of its second-person assertions is unresolved (voice ambiguity, preserved). No run artifact exists to compare its assertions against (ABS-8) |
OBJ-3.envelope-required (thoughtNumber, nextThoughtNeeded) |
RTE-4 (c), RTE-6, RTE-9 (b) |
truth-apt transformation: acquisition/import |

OBJ-3.envelope-optional |
RTE-4 (c), RTE-6, RTE-7, RTE-8 (a) |
truth-apt transformation: acquisition/import |
not applicable | Imported by unchecked cast (SRC-1:50-54); warrant unknown and additionally untyped. revisesThought asserts a relation to an earlier thought that nothing verifies (ABS-6); needsMoreThoughts has no consumer (ABS-4) |
No type guarantee, no referential check, no run artifact |
OBJ-4 |
RTE-6, RTE-9 (a), RTE-12 |
container of imported records; no transformation of its members | not applicable | The only derived proposition is .length, an entailed derivation warranted over this process's own store (RTE-9 (a)). Member content is never read (ABS-3) |
Warrant scope is the process singleton, not a conversation (EPI-4); state is lost at process exit (ABS-2, RTE-12) |
OBJ-5 |
RTE-7, RTE-9 (a) |
truth-apt transformation: non-ampliative reshaping (keyed grouping; members stored by reference, unchanged) |
not applicable | The only derived proposition is the key set, an entailed derivation warranted over this process's own store. Grouping preserves member content exactly and adds no warrant |
Bucket contents never read; no comparison or selection among branches (ABS-9) |
OBJ-6.derived |
RTE-9 (a) |
truth-apt transformation: entailed derivation |
not applicable | Premises are the store's own inspectable state; the derivation is Array.length / Object.keys. Warranted within the domain "this process's bookkeeping" and nowhere else |
Consumer may read the counters as conversation-scoped; they are not (EPI-4). No run artifact confirms any value (ABS-8) |
OBJ-6.echoed |
RTE-9 (b) |
truth-apt transformation: non-ampliative reshaping (verbatim re-emission + JSON encoding) |
not applicable | Carries the caller's own unwarranted assertions back unchanged — except totalThoughts, whose lineage is broken by RTE-5 (EPI-3) |
No marker distinguishes echoed from rewritten values |
OBJ-7 |
RTE-10 (b), RTE-11 |
truth-apt transformation: entailed derivation from the failed predicate |
not applicable | The predicate's result is formally valid; its encoding into natural language is not faithful for thought: "", thoughtNumber: 0, totalThoughts: 0, where the message asserts a type error that did not occur (EPI-1). RTE-11's message is accurate |
No test checks message accuracy (ABS-8) |
OBJ-8 |
RTE-8 (a), RTE-8 (b) |
truth-apt transformation: non-ampliative reshaping (full thought text preserved verbatim; label derived from envelope fields) |
not applicable | Reshaping is lossless for the thought text. The label is an unchecked restatement and can diverge from retained state in both directions (EPI-2) |
Consumer is a human outside any in-boundary force path (BAP-3); no run artifact |
OBJ-9 |
RTE-13 (not shipped in the package), BAP-5 |
truth-apt transformation: acquisition/import |
not applicable | Authored upstream; source warrant unknown; nothing checks it. CLM-9 within it is decidably false against SRC-1:134/:256 |
Excluded from the published package by files: ["dist"], so package consumers do not receive it |
OBJ-10 |
RTE-13 |
truth-apt transformation: acquisition/import (version and identity assertions) |
not applicable | Asserts version: 0.6.2; diverges from the 0.2.0 the server reports over MCP (SRC-1:240) — EPI-5. No route reconciles them |
Declares an unused yargs dependency (ABS-1) |
OBJ-2 |
RTE-2 (b), mirrored by RTE-4 |
— | — | No lifecycle record for OBJ-2: no candidate truth-apt output for this object; relevant direct-adaptation or update routes: none. It is a constraint contract, not a proposition. Its minimum: 1 bounds are advertised but not re-checked by RTE-4 |
Whether the SDK enforces it pre-handler is uninspected (SRC-6) |
Global no-candidate statement: not applicable. The inventory does contain candidate truth-apt
output (OBJ-3.thought, OBJ-6.derived, OBJ-7, OBJ-8, and others), so the method's
"No candidate lifecycle records" line is not written.
Direct behavior/policy adaptation with no truth-apt route: none found within boundary
(ABS-7). There is no evaluated adaptation of behavior or policy anywhere in the boundary, so the
method's non-truth-apt update branch has nothing to record.
5. System-claim versus route comparison
Consequential claims were found; the no-claim branch does not apply. Every row's
observed-run support and causal support fields are fixed at none by ABS-8 — no test,
fixture, trace, log, or run artifact exists anywhere in the boundary, so no evidence layer above
implementation and doctrine is available for any claim in this run.
| claim id | claimed operation or warrant | claim source ID/anchor and evidence layer | doctrine/design support | implemented route IDs | observed-run support | causal support and design limits | supported conclusion | mismatch/unknown |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
CLM-1 |
"Generates a solution hypothesis" | SRC-1a:154, also :166, :184 — doctrine/design (shipped as implementation text; its assertion about behavior is doctrine) |
present, in a "Key features" list and an imperative "You should:" item | none for generation. The server's only content-producing routes are RTE-5 (indeterminate clamp), RTE-9 (a) (bookkeeping counters), RTE-10 (b)/RTE-11 (error strings). ABS-10: no sampling capability, so the server cannot invoke a model at all. Acquisition of already-formed content: RTE-3, RTE-4 (c) |
none (ABS-8) |
none — no interventional comparison exists in the boundary | Within the boundary the server acquires and retains content of the claimed class; it generates none. Whether the excluded model generates hypotheses is outside the boundary and undetermined | mismatch + unknown. Unknown: the second-person voice leaves the subject unresolved. Mismatch: on any reading that predicates of the server, no generation route exists |
CLM-2 |
"Verifies the hypothesis based on the Chain of Thought steps" | SRC-1a:155, also :167, :185 — doctrine/design |
present | none. RTE-4 (a) is the only check and its target is envelope shape (ABS-5). Additionally ABS-3: the "Chain of Thought steps" such a verification would consume are retained but never read back — OBJ-4/OBJ-5 are read only as .length and Object.keys() at SRC-1:113-114 |
none (ABS-8) |
none | The boundary implements no verification of any kind over thought content, and structurally could not perform one "based on the Chain of Thought steps" without a read-back route it does not have | mismatch + unknown. Voice unresolved; on the server-predicating reading the mismatch is total and is doubly evidenced (ABS-5 for the evaluator, ABS-3 for the inputs) |
CLM-3 |
"Provides a correct answer" / "Provide a single, ideally correct answer as the final output" | SRC-1a:157, :187 — doctrine/design |
present, in both the feature list and the imperative list | none. OBJ-6 has exactly five fields (SRC-1:110-114) and none of them is an answer, conclusion, verdict, or content field. RTE-8 emits the thought text but only to stderr, to a human |
none (ABS-8) |
none | The server has no output slot for an answer on any route. "Correct" additionally presupposes an acceptance criterion, and no acceptance transition over content exists (ABS-5) |
mismatch + unknown. Voice unresolved; on the server-predicating reading there is no route and no output field |
CLM-4 |
"Generate and verify solution hypotheses" | SRC-2:12 — doctrine/design, README "Features" list, system voice: predicates of the tool |
present; no voice ambiguity | none — same absences as CLM-1 and CLM-2 (ABS-5, ABS-10) |
none (ABS-8) |
none | This is the sharpest gap in the register: a claim in the product's own voice about its own feature set, with no implemented route for either conjunct within the boundary | mismatch. doctrine only; no implemented or observed route found within boundary (search boundary B0) |
CLM-5 |
"Revise and refine thoughts as understanding deepens" / "You can question or revise previous thoughts" | SRC-2:9 (README Features), SRC-1a:150 (tool features) — doctrine/design |
present in both places | partial. OBJ-2 accepts isRevision/revisesThought; RTE-4 (c) imports them by unchecked cast; RTE-6 retains them; RTE-8 (a) renders "🔄 Revision (revising thought N)". But ABS-6: no state operation links, supersedes, marks, or removes the revised entry — the revising thought is appended like any other, and revisesThought may name a nonexistent thought with nothing checking it |
none (ABS-8) |
none | Implemented as an annotation and display affordance: a revision is labelled and stored. Not implemented as revision of retained content — nothing is refined, superseded, or corrected in the store | partial mismatch + unknown. Also a voice-classification question referred to the orchestrator: SRC-2:9 sits in the same README "Features" list that packet §4d treats as system voice for CLM-4/CLM-6, yet CLM-5 is placed in the ambiguous set. The packet's recorded ambiguity is preserved here, not resolved; see §7(b) |
CLM-6 |
"Branch into alternative paths of reasoning" | SRC-2:10 — doctrine/design, README Features, system voice |
present; no voice ambiguity | partial, and implemented as far as it goes. RTE-7 creates and appends to branchId-keyed buckets (SRC-1:96-101); RTE-9 (a) reports the key set. But no route compares, ranks, selects among, merges, or reads back branches (ABS-3, ABS-9), and branchFromThought: 0 never buckets |
none (ABS-8) |
none | Implemented as keyed grouping with key-set reporting. The grouping is real and inspectable; "alternative paths of reasoning" as an epistemic operation — exploring, comparing, choosing — has no route | partial mismatch. The structural half is implemented; the epistemic half is not. Also see EPI-2: the renderer's branch label and the bucket state can disagree in both directions |
CLM-7 |
"Tasks that need to maintain context over multiple steps" | SRC-1a:145, SRC-2:38 — doctrine/design (use recommendation carrying an implicit capability claim) |
present in both the tool string and the README | partial. RTE-6 retains every admitted call for the process lifetime, unbounded. RTE-9 (a) returns two derived scalars computed from that store. ABS-3: content is never read back or served; ABS-2: nothing survives the process |
none (ABS-8) |
none | Context is retained but not retrieved. The only material that crosses from call n to call n+1 is thoughtHistoryLength and the branch key list. On the retention side the claim holds; on any reading that implies the context is available for later use, it does not |
partial mismatch. Additionally the retained store is process-global with no session partition (SRC-1:249), so "context" may span unrelated conversations if a host multiplexes (EPI-4) |
CLM-8 |
"Situations where irrelevant information needs to be filtered out" | SRC-1a:146, SRC-2:39 — doctrine/design |
present in both the tool string and the README; the corresponding imperative is "Ignore information that is irrelevant to the current step" (SRC-1a:183), addressed in the second person |
none. ABS-9: no filtering, ranking, selection, or relevance operation over any input; every admitted call is appended unconditionally at SRC-1:94 |
none (ABS-8) |
none | No filtering route exists in the boundary. The corresponding imperative addresses the model, and the model is excluded, so whether filtering occurs in the deployed pair is undetermined | mismatch + unknown. Mismatch on any server-predicating reading; the subject of the imperative form is the model, whose behavior is outside the boundary |
CLM-9 |
The tool is named sequential_thinking |
SRC-2:16 — doctrine/design, README "Tool" heading, system voice |
present | contradicted by implementation. The registered name is "sequentialthinking" (SRC-1:134) and the dispatch equality tests that exact string (SRC-1:256). A call naming sequential_thinking falls through to RTE-11 and returns "Unknown tool" |
none (ABS-8) |
none | This is the only claim in the register the boundary can decide outright, and it decides against the doctrine. The claim is false at 2ecb382. Operational consequence: a consumer relying on OBJ-9 for the tool name is rejected by RTE-11 |
mismatch — decided, not merely unsupported. It also bounds how much weight OBJ-9's other claims can carry: the one README claim that is independently checkable inside the boundary is wrong |
CLM-10 |
"This tool helps analyze problems through a flexible thinking process that can adapt and evolve" | SRC-1a:136-137 — doctrine/design |
present, as the description's opening | weak and partly contrary. Nothing in the server adapts or evolves: ABS-7 (no scheduling, iteration control, or termination), ABS-1 (no configuration), RTE-2 (a) returns the identical descriptor regardless of request, session, or accumulated state. The one server-side mechanic that changes anything is RTE-5, which is indeterminate and silently overrides downward adjustment of totalThoughts |
none (ABS-8) |
none | The server is a fixed-behavior recorder. Any "adapting and evolving" would be the excluded model's, exercised through fields the server stores and echoes | mismatch + unknown. Voice unresolved. Also a partial contradiction of the adjacent unregistered claim-candidate "You can adjust total_thoughts up or down as you progress" (SRC-1a:149, :170), proposed for registration as EPI-6 |
6. Bounded conclusion
Findings that change the answer to the analysis question, grouped where warrant and force are the same. No system-wide epistemic score, status, grade, or unqualified verdict is given, and no finding here accepts the system's claims.
What the system retains, retrieves, reshapes, or uses. It retains totally and
retrieves nothing. RTE-6 appends every admitted call to OBJ-4 unconditionally, unbounded,
for the process lifetime; RTE-7 additionally files branch-labelled calls into OBJ-5 by key.
Against that, ABS-3 establishes that stored content is read at exactly two sites — .length and
Object.keys() at SRC-1:113-114. Retention is total; retrieval of content is nil. It
reshapes truth-apt content in two places: RTE-7's keyed grouping (non-ampliative reshaping,
lossless) and RTE-8 (a)'s box rendering (non-ampliative reshaping, lossless for the thought
text). RTE-8 (b) is the only route by which thought content leaves the process, and its
consumer is a human log reader (BAP-3), never the model.
What it acquires, and whether source warrant is preserved. All substantive content is
acquired, not produced: RTE-4 (c) imports OBJ-3 from the excluded host LLM. Source
warrant is unknown — nothing in the boundary records, requests, transmits, or assesses it, and
ABS-8 supplies no instance to inspect. Warrant is neither preserved nor degraded here because
none was ever attached. The optional envelope fields are imported by unchecked as casts
(SRC-1:50-54), so they carry not even a type guarantee.
What it derives, from which warranted premises, within what domain. Exactly one route
produces warranted derived content: RTE-9 (a), which computes thoughtHistoryLength and the
branch key set from the store's own directly-inspectable state. The derivation is formally valid
and its premises are warranted, within the domain of this process's own bookkeeping and nowhere
else. It licenses nothing about the problem being reasoned about, about the truth or quality of
any thought, or — because CMP-5 is a process-global singleton with no session partition
(SRC-1:249) — about how many thoughts this conversation contributed (EPI-4). RTE-10 (b)
and RTE-11 also derive propositions from a fired predicate; RTE-11's is accurate, while
RTE-10 (b)'s is false in a reachable input class (thought: "", thoughtNumber: 0,
totalThoughts: 0 are reported as type errors when the types are correct) — a failure of encoding
fidelity, not of formal validity (EPI-1). One further content edge, RTE-5's totalThoughts
rewrite, is indeterminate between entailed bound-repair and ampliative re-estimation; the
boundary contains no specification that decides it.
What it conjectures, tests, accepts, and integrates. It conjectures nothing — it declares
no sampling capability (ABS-10) and has no generation route. It tests nothing about
content — RTE-4 (a) is the only check in the boundary and its target is four envelope fields'
presence, truthiness, and JS type (ABS-5); a "verification based on the Chain of Thought steps"
is doubly foreclosed, since the steps are also never read (ABS-3). It accepts nothing —
RTE-4 (b) is envelope admission against a criterion with no evidential relation to the thought's
truth; retention follows admission with no acceptance step between them, and per the method's own
guard, retention is not acceptance. It integrates nothing — ABS-6 shows no route links a
revision to its target, supersedes, marks, or reorganises; there is no acceptance for integration
to follow. Every observed candidate state in output 4 is no instance observed, because ABS-8
establishes there is no test, fixture, trace, log, or run artifact anywhere in the boundary.
Material acceptance criteria, intended use, scope, and authority. There is exactly one
criterion of any kind in the boundary: RTE-4's four-field envelope predicate. Its epistemic
authority is that, at call time, those four fields were present with the stated JS types and
truthy where checked — and nothing more. Its operational authority is enforcing: it permits
the call to reach retention and response construction, or blocks all state writes. Its
behavioral-authority path is BAP-4 — consumer: the calling host/model; channel: the
advertised schema plus this independent re-validation; force: enforcing; horizon: every call for
the process lifetime. BAP-4 is the only enforcing path anywhere in the boundary, and what it
enforces is envelope shape, not content. The other two paths carry no enforcement: BAP-1
(OBJ-1 prose to the model, advisory, horizon host-determined and its delivery uninspected) and
BAP-2 (OBJ-6 back to the model, informational, obliges nothing, one turn). BAP-3 (stderr to
a human) and BAP-5 (README to an operator) have no consumer inside the boundary at all.
Direct behavior or policy adaptation without a truth-apt route: none found within boundary.
ABS-7 records no scheduling, iteration control, or termination decision; nextThoughtNeeded is
copied input→output unchanged and never branched on. The server does not drive, pace, continue, or
terminate the loop it is named for. ABS-1 records no configuration surface, so nothing is even
operator-tunable.
Which claims remain unsupported for want of implementation, run, or causal evidence.
CLM-1, CLM-2, CLM-3, and CLM-4 have no implemented route within boundary B0, no
observed-run support (ABS-8), and no causal support. CLM-4 is the sharpest case because
it is in the product's own system voice with no voice ambiguity to absorb it. CLM-1, CLM-2,
CLM-3, CLM-5, and CLM-10 additionally carry an unresolved subject: they sit inside a
string addressed to the model in the second person, and the text does not settle whether they
predicate of the server, of the model, or of the pair. That ambiguity is recorded, not resolved,
and it is not a substitute for the missing routes — on the server-predicating reading the routes
are absent, and on the model-predicating reading the referent is declared external and
uninspectable from here. CLM-5, CLM-6, and CLM-7 are partially implemented: as
annotation-and-display, as keyed grouping with key reporting, and as retention without retrieval,
respectively. CLM-8 has no route (ABS-9). CLM-9 is the one claim the boundary decides
outright, and it is false at this revision.
Scope discipline on the negative findings. The server is deterministic machinery in service of a model that runs on the other side of the transport. An intentionally operational or scaffolding scope is a scope boundary, not a product failure, and none of the absences above is offered as one. What the absences do establish is narrower and is what the analysis question asked for: on the routes actually inspected, at this revision, within search boundary B0, the knowledge- production work the descriptor and README describe is not performed by any route inside this boundary. Whether it is performed by the excluded model or host is undetermined here and cannot be settled from inside this boundary. No absence recorded in this file is expanded into a claim that no informal or unobserved route exists anywhere.
7. Lens returns to the orchestrator
(a) EPI-n proposals — new records, with concrete identities
| ID | Proposed record | Concrete identity | Kind | Why it is new |
|---|---|---|---|---|
EPI-1 |
Rejection messages misdescribe the failing condition for a reachable input class. !data.thought, !data.thoughtNumber, !data.totalThoughts are falsy checks, so thought: "", thoughtNumber: 0, totalThoughts: 0 are rejected with messages asserting "must be a string" / "must be a number" — assertions that are false, since the supplied types are correct |
index.ts:32-40 (validateThoughtData predicates) → message construction at index.ts:122-124; routes RTE-4 (a), RTE-10 (b); object OBJ-7 |
evidenced finding | runtime-account.md §Loop C note (b) records the falsy-check rejection semantics; it does not record that the produced message is a false proposition. The epistemic point is encoding fidelity, distinct from the predicate's validity |
EPI-2 |
The stderr render and the retained branch state can disagree in both directions. formatThought's if (isRevision) … else if (branchFromThought) chain means a call with isRevision truthy and both branch fields set is bucketed by RTE-7 but rendered as "🔄 Revision"; conversely a call with branchFromThought truthy but branchId absent is rendered as "🌿 Branch (from thought N, ID: undefined)" but is not bucketed |
index.ts:64-73 (render label selection) vs index.ts:96-101 (bucket condition); routes RTE-7, RTE-8 (a); objects OBJ-5, OBJ-8; bears on CLM-6 |
evidenced finding | no registered record covers the divergence between the display assertion and the state it purports to describe |
EPI-3 |
totalThoughts is mutated in place and then echoed to its author unmarked. RTE-5 overwrites the caller's value at index.ts:90-92, before the append at :94, and RTE-9 (b) returns the rewritten value at :111 with no field distinguishing an echoed value from a rewritten one |
index.ts:90-92 → index.ts:94 → index.ts:110-111; routes RTE-5, RTE-6, RTE-9 (b); objects OBJ-3.envelope-required, OBJ-6.echoed |
evidenced finding | RTE-5 is registered as a clamp; the lineage break and unmarked echo back to the author are not recorded, and they are what makes it epistemically consequential |
EPI-4 |
The derived counters returned to the model are process-scoped, not conversation-scoped. thinkingServer is a module-scope singleton with no session key or request partitioning, so thoughtHistoryLength and branches describe the process's whole store; a consumer reading them as "my conversation's thought count" exceeds their warrant |
index.ts:249 (singleton construction) read at index.ts:113-114; routes RTE-1, RTE-9 (a); objects OBJ-4, OBJ-5, OBJ-6.derived; bears on CLM-7 |
evidenced finding (warrant-scope limit) | runtime-account.md §Loop C records the singleton as a coordination property; the warrant-scope consequence for the one warranted derivation in the system is a distinct epistemic record |
EPI-5 |
The version the server reports over MCP diverges from the distributed package version. CMP-2 declares version: "0.2.0"; OBJ-10 declares "version": "0.6.2". Both values are registered; their divergence is not, and it is a truth-apt self-description the host consumes |
index.ts:239-240 vs package.json:3; components CMP-2, CMP-9; object OBJ-10 |
evidenced finding | both facts are in the packet; the inconsistency between them is not recorded anywhere |
EPI-6 |
Claim-candidate for registration (orchestrator namespace, so proposed rather than minted): "You can adjust total_thoughts up or down as you progress" / "Current estimate of thoughts needed (can be adjusted up/down)". Adjudication: partially contradicted by RTE-5, which silently overrides any downward adjustment below the current thoughtNumber |
index.ts:149 and index.ts:170 (both inside SRC-1a); contradicting route RTE-5 at index.ts:90-92 |
proposed claim record | not in the CLM-1–CLM-10 register, and it is the claim RTE-5 most directly bears on |
(b) Corrections and refinements to registered canonical records, with evidence anchors
| Target record | Correction / refinement | Evidence anchor |
|---|---|---|
BAP-4 (force description) |
The packet states the enforced condition as "a call missing any of the 4 required fields, or with a wrong JS type". The implemented predicate is presence + truthiness + type for thought, thoughtNumber, and totalThoughts, and type only for nextThoughtNeeded (so false passes). Correctly-typed present values "" and 0 are therefore also rejected. Recommend restating BAP-4's force as an envelope presence-truthiness-and-type check |
index.ts:32-43 |
RTE-10 (scope of the "state stays clean" property) |
The packet states that on error "the offending call is not appended to OBJ-4". This holds for validation throws, which occur at index.ts:32-43, before the push at :94. It does not hold unconditionally: the push at :94 precedes the render at :103-104 and the response construction at :106-117, and any throw from those (e.g. a RangeError from '─'.repeat(...) at :76 on a sufficiently long thought) is caught at :118 after the record is already retained. Recommend scoping the property to validation failures |
index.ts:88, :94, :103-104, :118 |
RTE-2 / OBJ-2 vs RTE-4 (advertised vs enforced contract) |
OBJ-2 advertises minimum: 1 on thoughtNumber, totalThoughts, revisesThought, branchFromThought. RTE-4 re-validates none of these bounds; it substitutes truthiness. Whether the SDK enforces inputSchema pre-handler is uninspected (SRC-6), so the advertised-versus-enforced gap cannot be closed from inside the boundary. Recommend recording this as a known divergence on RTE-2 (b) rather than leaving BAP-4 to imply schema enforcement |
index.ts:200-223 vs index.ts:32-43; SRC-6 access gap |
CLM-5 (voice classification) |
Referred, not resolved. SRC-2:9 ("Revise and refine thoughts as understanding deepens") sits in the same README "Features" bullet list as SRC-2:10 (CLM-6) and SRC-2:12 (CLM-4), both of which packet §4d classifies as system voice predicating of the tool. CLM-5 is nonetheless placed in the voice-ambiguous set. This may be correct — CLM-5's other anchor SRC-1a:150 genuinely is second person — but the README half appears to be system voice on the packet's own criterion. The packet's recorded ambiguity is preserved throughout this file; the orchestrator owns the resolution |
SRC-2:6-12 (the "Features" list as a whole) |
OBJ-9 (distribution) |
Worth recording on OBJ-9 or RTE-13: SRC-3:13-15 sets files: ["dist"], so the README is not included in the published npm package. Package consumers receive OBJ-1 and OBJ-2 (compiled into dist/index.js) but not OBJ-9. This bounds who ever sees CLM-4, CLM-6, CLM-9 |
package.json:13-15 |
No registered record was found to be wrong on its own terms; all five entries above are scope refinements or divergences between two separately-correct records.
(c) The three authorities, kept explicitly separate
Epistemic authority — what any route's result licenses for reliance, and its scope.
| Route | Licenses | Explicitly does not license |
|---|---|---|
RTE-4 (a) / RTE-4 (b) |
that the four named envelope fields were present with the stated JS types and truthy where checked, at call time | anything about the thought's truth, quality, relevance, consistency with earlier thoughts, or relation to any hypothesis; and nothing about OBJ-3.envelope-optional, which is cast unchecked |
RTE-9 (a) |
entailed statements about this process's own store: how many records it has appended, which branchId keys it has seen |
any claim about the problem domain, about thought quality, or about a single conversation's contribution — the store is process-global (EPI-4) |
RTE-10 (b) |
that some envelope predicate failed | the specific diagnosis the message states, which is false for ""/0 inputs (EPI-1) |
RTE-11 |
that the requested tool name is not served here | anything else |
RTE-5 |
at most an arithmetic relation, from a premise of unknown warrant; under the documented "estimate" reading, nothing | any claim about how many thoughts the problem needs |
RTE-2 (a) (OBJ-1), RTE-13, OBJ-9 |
nothing. Publishing a claim is not warrant for it; tsc checks types, not claims |
CLM-1–CLM-4, CLM-8, CLM-10 are unchecked by any route in the boundary |
RTE-6, RTE-7, RTE-8 |
nothing. Retention, grouping, and display are not endorsement | that any retained or displayed content is accepted, checked, current, or superseded |
Operational authority — what a result permits, blocks, or changes before another check.
| Route | Permits | Blocks or changes |
|---|---|---|
RTE-3 |
dispatch of a name-matching call into processThought |
blocks every other tool name (→ RTE-11) |
RTE-4 (b) |
retention and response construction | blocks all state writes on rejection (for validation throws; see §7(b) for the scope limit) |
RTE-5 |
— | changes the stored and returned totalThoughts; blocks downward adjustment below thoughtNumber |
RTE-6, RTE-7 |
increments the only values a later call can observe | nothing else — content is never read (ABS-3) |
RTE-9 (b) |
returns control to the host | schedules nothing (ABS-7); nothing requires, requests, or paces a subsequent call |
RTE-12 |
— | terminates the process; all retained state is unrecoverable |
RTE-13 |
determines the deployed artifact | the documented unpinned npx -y launch means a documented-configuration deployment may not run 2ecb382 |
RTE-2, RTE-8 |
— | no operational authority: RTE-2 affords, the host disposes; RTE-8 has no in-boundary consumer |
Behavioral authority — consumer, channel, force, horizon (canonical BAP-*, unchanged).
| ID | Consumer | Channel | Force | Horizon |
|---|---|---|---|---|
BAP-1 |
host LLM | RTE-2 descriptor → OBJ-1 prose placed into context by the host |
advisory instruction | while the host keeps the descriptor in context — host-determined, outside boundary |
BAP-2 |
host LLM | RTE-9 response text block |
informational only; obliges nothing | one turn, unless the host retains it |
BAP-3 |
human operator / log reader | RTE-8 stderr |
display only; no in-boundary consumer, therefore no implemented force | process lifetime, or whatever the host does with stderr |
BAP-4 |
calling host/model at call time | OBJ-2 advertised via RTE-2 plus independent re-validation at RTE-4 |
enforcing — the only enforcing path in the boundary, and it enforces envelope shape, not content | every call, for the process lifetime |
BAP-5 |
human operator configuring a host | SRC-2:41-59 README config snippet |
advisory setup instruction | until the operator's config changes |
(d) Missing evidence paired with the conclusion it prevents
| Missing evidence | Conclusion prevented |
|---|---|
ABS-8 — no test, fixture, trace, log, or run artifact anywhere in the boundary (git ls-files → exactly 4 files; dotfile-inclusive listing → same 4) |
Prevents every observed candidate state in output 4 and all observed-run and causal support in output 5. No lifecycle phase can be evidenced; no route can be shown to have operated; no claim can be causally attributed. Implementation and doctrine alone never establish an observed disposition, and that rule is applied without exception here |
SRC-6 — @modelcontextprotocol/sdk 0.5.0 uninspected, node_modules/ absent |
Prevents quantifying RTE-4's marginal checking contribution: if the SDK pre-validates against inputSchema, RTE-4 is partly redundant and the minimum: 1 bounds may in fact be enforced; if it does not, RTE-4 is the sole gate and the advertised bounds are unenforced. Also prevents any claim about wire framing, dispatch ordering, concurrency, or error propagation |
| Host excluded by declared scope | Prevents any claim that OBJ-1 ever reaches model context. BAP-1 is an affordance record only — the server affords, the host disposes. Also prevents any claim about host-side schema enforcement, retry, or stderr handling |
| Host LLM excluded by declared scope | Prevents any claim about whether hypotheses are generated (CLM-1, CLM-4), verified (CLM-2, CLM-4), revised (CLM-5), filtered (CLM-8), or answered (CLM-3) anywhere in the deployed pair. The absence findings are about routes inside the boundary, never about the pair |
No specification, comment, or test fixing totalThoughts semantics |
Prevents deciding whether RTE-5 is entailed derivation or ampliative conjecture. Recorded indeterminate in output 4 with both classifications named |
RTE-13 + SRC-2:47-59 — documented launch is unpinned npx -y; boundary is ~20 months old |
Prevents any claim that a deployment following the documented configuration runs the analysed code, and any claim about the current upstream state of this server |
| Session/conversation identity absent from the protocol surface inspected | Prevents determining whether a host multiplexes conversations onto one process. The code affords it (SRC-1:249); whether it happens is outside the boundary. This bounds EPI-4 to a warrant-scope caveat rather than a demonstrated cross-conversation leak |
