Batch 03: two audit-cleared publications; execution paused

Assignment and runtime

On 2026-10-12 the operator asked this session to follow the workshop plan. At intake the committed plan required batches of four pipelines. The orchestrator selected ACE, AgeMem, Agent-R and Agent Skills for Context Engineering. None overlaps the unfinished named assignments in the older agentic-memory-refresh workshop. Historical records supplied source identities only; no historical findings were given to analysis coordinators.

Origin was clean on main at cd6e8250c5277c5c6295b6940a9b01e034c9daa7. That revision includes the upstream-evidence and preparation-label clarifications in a0fb5027d. The old Academic Research Skills run was not resumed or rewritten. ACE received a fresh preparation with lowercase ace.

The orchestrator runtime exposed openai/gpt-6.1-sol, medium. Its standing diagnostic returned COMMONPLACE_WORKER_OK, agent depth unknown and nesting limit unknown. Four fresh project-scoped commonplace-coordinator sessions were launched in one parallel tool call with explicit Sol/medium settings. Successful coordinator reports confirm their own diagnostics and analytical worker profile pi-sol. All worktrees use the method commit above; their sibling .preparation.json records retain setup evidence. No method changes, cleanup, push or downstream regeneration were performed.

Recoverable assignments and integration queue

All paths below are relative to /home/zby/llm/commonplace. Each run's commands are its worktree's .venv/bin/commonplace-analysis and .venv/bin/commonplace-run, called from that worktree. Run evidence is kb/agentic-system-analyses/state/<run-id>/ inside the worktree. Sources, attempts, handouts, judgments and publication journals remain there.

No publication.

Integration queue, in order:

  1. AgeMem: worktree publication kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained/2601-01885v1/; audit, integrate with recorded limits.
  2. Agent-R: worktree publication kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained/agent-r/; audit, integrate with recorded limits.

Neither is integrated or complete on the checklist. Normal integration must independently verify publication and requires clean origin on main.

Unchanged command output is retained in ACE inspection, AgeMem inspection, Agent-R inspection, and Agent Skills inspection. All four capture commands exited 0 with empty stderr. Inspection does not reconstruct the failed coordinator's unreturned advance output or certify publication effects.

Audit findings and worker problems

AgeMem's audit confirms the second memory-profile round resolved a provenance-coverage objection. Its documentary evidence, unexercised execution/preservation, selective performance attribution and coarse experience-unit limits are already public. The audit also found locally recovered quote and validation-path errors in nested traces; an empty final worker-problems list is not an error-free execution claim.

Agent-R's audit confirms the publication qualifies defective nonempty dataset export, external training/checkpoint adoption, synthetic correction and incomplete auxiliary SciWorld epistemic coverage. All eleven analytical workers have a traced member-content-check pass. A boundary worker initially used a nonexistent artifact path, then validated against the actual artifact after a quote correction. The audit does not settle method-level authority for substituting that command path.

Agent Skills' completed 000008-epistemic attempt reports a validation command pointing to a nonexistent artifact path. Later engine checks do not establish that worker's prescribed validation succeeded. Whether the supplied invocation was defective or its transcription was wrong remains uninvestigated here. The recovered path errors in the other audits make this a suspected shared instruction/execution issue; pause affected new work pending a bounded maintenance decision rather than repair the frozen method or infer compliance from publication.

Exact failures and recovery boundaries

The ACE coordinator returned only this tool error:

An error occurred while processing your request. You can retry your request, or contact us through our help center at help.openai.com if the error persists. Please include the request ID req_d5963214de5741f1a57015ad3078780d in your message.

Its run was discovered and inspected, not advanced. 000019-reconciliation remains open. Before any replacement launch, the standard resume procedure must establish whether the prior worker completed, failed or never ran and confirm no prior worker can still write. The API error does not establish that fact. Recovery requires operator direction; no fabricated result event was submitted.

Agent Skills' last advance exited 2, with no separate stderr reported:

stop profile-verification 000026-profile-verification: Agent error: An error occurred while processing your request. You can retry your request, or contact us through our help center at help.openai.com if the error persists. Please include the request ID req_b2d9f3ce74f94eb1a8e18be91198e6cc in your message.
publishable: no

Its failed attempt is retained; the standard driver requires a separate recovery decision. No retry was launched.

AgeMem and Agent-R last advances each exited 0 with empty stderr and publishable: yes; inspections report completed and publication-job-completed. Independent audits followed, but integration has not occurred.

Concurrent plan change and stop

While the synchronous analysis call was executing, another writer changed origin README.md and audit-a-rerun.md in this workshop. At the subsequent check both were uncommitted. Their bytes were not staged or edited by this session. The revised plan requires a rolling pool with individual asynchronous completion and successor dispatch; it explicitly says the current Pi wait-for-all parallel call is insufficient and forbids silently falling back to batches, agent CLIs or additional scheduling coordinators.

The exposed subagent interface has single, parallel and chain modes, but no asynchronous launch/completion handle. The observed parallel call returned the whole four-task result set. No supported rolling dispatch path is established. Thus no replacement systems were launched after discovering the new requirement. Unblock scheduling with an operator-selected runtime supporting the required asynchronous contract, or an explicit scheduling-policy decision.

Integration is separately blocked by the two concurrent uncommitted workshop edits. Resolve them with their owner and establish a clean origin before standard serial integration. This commission does not authorize committing those unrelated bytes. No integration command was attempted and no target was checked complete.

Owned audits, inspections and checklist bookkeeping may be committed separately with explicit paths; that does not resolve the unrelated origin edits or authorize run recovery. No corpus-refresh completion is claimed.
