JAZ renewed-publication audit
Disposition
hold — the original replay omission is corrected, but the renewed memory profile reintroduces an unsupported complete classification of workflow input origins. The archived predecessor had already corrected this separate defect to partial coverage. The new profile calls the workflow materialization input unit known while omitting unresolved merged invocation inputs/scope. An axis-level partial and generic public opacity caveats do not repair a false complete unit assessment.
This is a completed bounded audit, not a new system analysis or integration authorization. No delegation, target execution, acquisition, installation, reset, advance, integration or commit occurred. Only this report was authored.

Fresh recursive hashing found exactly the packet's 13 files, with every individual hash equal. Using the packet's current-map recipe, sha256(json.dumps(member_map, sort_keys=True).encode()), the digest is caa760542b4ab0ef96393c7ea955d92ab5585460a18c0834bdf84468a46a3127. The current completed R/effects/publish.json names P, this run/source identity and the same entire new map. Its SHA-256 is 0790d1051769bb7cd0c42cbefd2aa3c475ce5578fefcdcc912c9f497d595cf9c. Completed publication attempt 000080-publish hashes to 7a9aba77656d4a33efd6ed8601235b069f58848efa340c6e7da2266463dd1272.
The assembled manifest hashes to 3e9904c981ab688f10ca117343cfc8f2892f2219f748274bcb81f304fe8709bd; its 12 member pins all match the current files. The working artifact's 12 Markdown files also match P. Its ARTIFACT.yaml is the working type declaration (093c6e4a…), not the assembled manifest; that intentional difference is not content drift. Manifest worker identity is pi-sol, Pi, openai/gpt-6.1-sol, medium for every model-produced role.
Fresh hashes also match the packet for R/run.json (5983f1d2e1199d2b39db457768013d7eb1598a50dfb1d362fca11ec9e5f31e36) and sibling preparation JSON (81e250ebcbbd8feca8fb84b21d80b91a31173d01a5807867e6642159d46bde88). Run parameters bind the supplied source, system, command directory and profile. Preparation is ready, token a94bea79c61a. W HEAD equals the method commit; S HEAD equals the source revision. Read-only Git status is clean for S and shows only the untracked publication directory in W.
Canonical comparison: a recursive exact-map comparison against origin retained sets found no integrated exact publication. The apparent JAZ search hit jaz-lang--jaz-evals identifies the distinct https://github.com/jaz-lang/jaz-evals source, not a JAZ incumbent. The packet's empty source-matched-canonical list is consistent with the inspected origin. No replacement/incumbent decision is inferred.
Archived predecessor
Archive A is W/kb/agentic-system-analyses/state/.reset-history/AAS-2026-10-15-jaz-a94bea79c61a-01/5d609c3b702449758f62f6a0bcf7bf14/effects/0/before. All 13 files match the predecessor's individual packet hashes. Manifest: 8377ad2b50098b77f737c18a13bf4a7ed4af8e4bf0286e4bc5ea093c4bb6af9a.
The predecessor digest a1a8a58e47f29a9f67ec258030211fe90ce40a9117cee9455db9a1b340ba5974 uses compact sorted JSON (separators=(',', ':')). Applying the current recipe with default spaces instead gives df40aabf1cef226236a5b1eaa237dde2956ef80d1797031e8936936ab3e35a9e. This is a digest-recipe difference, not changed archived bytes; the individual map is exact.
Inspection and governing contracts
Read the commission, audit procedure and exact packet completely; the prior held audit completely; the JAZ section of the depth report; both historical JAZ/JAZ-evals review leads; current boundary, public overview/synthesis and all three verifications; and consequential runtime, memory-profile, epistemic/reconciliation passages and archived counterparts. Source checks concentrated on replay stack selection, history construction and workflow input/code production and consumption.
Applied W's native collection, shared record contract, analysis-set, synthesis, verification and memory-profile types, plus runtime tracing and report-verification instructions. Relevant rules are: source-native operation precedes classification; known means complete classification within the unit; unresolved included inputs cannot be excluded to obtain it; trace source concerns original input to the qualifying write, including mixed/opaque parts. The verification type explicitly makes unsupported complete coverage a blocker rather than a publishable limit.
Historical JAZ uses the same revision string and is a coverage lead, not independent authentication of historical source bytes. JAZ-evals is a different repository/revision and supplies no frozen evaluation evidence for this JAZ publication. I did not import its benchmark results into this audit's JAZ conclusions.
Original-fault adjudication
| Prior finding | Renewed adjudication | Evidence and consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Replay lacks sequential-invocation precondition; concurrent siblings can receive another queue's code/divergence state | Corrected | S src/jaz/hooks/builtin/replay.py:393–400,509–658 declares the condition and selects the shared stack top. P runtime.md#rt-rte-trajectory-replay now states it in progression, delegated visibility, selector and expiry; synthesis's retention account and replay limitation state the concurrent counterroute publicly. This is source-backed static capacity/limitation, not an observed incident. |
| Dangling epistemic reference to nonexistent parent concurrency limits and per-invoke withdrawal | Corrected | P epistemic authority ledger now defers to the qualified runtime route; reconciliation's replay disposition identifies the repaired dependency. The original unconditional EPI-RTE-replay-check account is not repeated as a new independent guarantee. |
| Historical workflow original-input coverage defect, already corrected before reset | Reintroduced; unresolved | A memory-profile.md:1170–1197,1246–1248,1303–1304 explicitly retains merged inputs/scope uncertainty and a partial workflow unit. P memory-profile.md:790–805 instead marks the same broad materialization-input unit known. H1 below. |
| Workflow export is not a successful/faithful accepted checkpoint | Preserved as a public limit | P runtime workflow route and synthesis retain failed/aborted emission, early code capture and object-binding/equivalence uncertainty, with no automatic next-policy installation or improved-capacity inference. S workflow_replay.py:230–278,322–339 supports these selected qualifications. |
| Seed prompt and full environment are not compared; repeat effects are not undone | Preserved | S replay.py:339–356,604–631; P synthesis explicitly denies seed-equivalence and rollback. No new hold for this. |
| New recovery's broad history wording | Corrected within renewed run | Verifier 000055 records the precision issue; 000057 repairs it. S protocol/code_only.py:527–566 preserves full Continue output/recoverable exceptions, but terminal entries record empty output/no exception in those fields. P runtime, reconciliation and synthesis now distinguish these. |
The depth report locates the old replay author at 000005-runtime (22f3dcac…) and missed report-verification barrier at 000022 (72d61c14…), followed by synthesis 000032/verifier 000034. That historical attribution is preserved, not recast as a new failure. I checked the archived defective route against S and the renewed wording; I did not independently replay the old 361 MB trace. The old audit's bounded operational coverage remains bounded.
H1 — False complete classification of workflow materialization inputs
Consequential finding. The current trace_source unit “Workflow materialization inputs” asserts assessment: known, with session-logs and tool-traces findings, citing only RT-RTE-workflow-emission. Those positives are not the problem. The complete unit claim omits the original content and origins of invocation inputs and resolved scope consumed by that same generator. Comparison consumers extracting the unit would infer complete original-input classification. Other units' uncertainty and the whole axis's partial do not qualify this unit.
Frozen-source mechanism. S src/jaz/hooks/builtin/workflow_replay.py:180–197 constructs InvocationContext.inputs={**event.scope, **inputs}. Its explicit contract calls this the full bound namespace and says it is lowered into function parameters and reconstructed in the main call. Lines 454–463 and 485–494 enumerate these values and emit repr(value) into standalone invocation code. Thus the workflow write consumes more than query text and execution feedback. The accepted runtime route itself acknowledges merged explicit inputs and resolved scope and arbitrary-host-object limits. No accepted record supplied to the profile classifies all original content/origins of those values.
The profile's separate “Opaque payload derivation and any trace-fed settings update” unit cites conversation history/settings/model ping, not this workflow input branch. It does not retain this included unresolved part. Generic synthesis uncertainty about live payloads and external trainers is not a workflow-specific original-input coverage qualification and cannot repair an extracted false known. The predecessor explicitly retained precisely that uncertainty. No new source expansion is needed to establish this regression.
Earliest evidenced renewed author and missed barriers. 000067-memory-profile first emits the defect in profile version 7b55ac7f5d7608fb673e8207a6afb49b64b620f1e02a071004761b45553663d3. Its trace_source block is already the current broad known unit. 000069-profile-verification (5d03dbe7…) challenges the separate identifier-selector finding but accepts the trace-source coverage. This is the earliest inspected missed verifier barrier for H1. Correction 000071 retains H1 in the published profile (563bce40…); final verifier 000073 (16962ed6…) again approves it. I do not attribute this defect to synthesis authoring: it originates in profile classification. Synthesis verification does not replace profile verification.
Unblock and restart separation. Under separate authority, restart the profile author (memory-profile) to retain the unresolved workflow input/scope branch in the unit's assessment, notes and rationale, preserving supported positive witnesses. Alternatively, fully classify the original included inputs from accepted records; that would require evidence not presently established and may exceed local repair. Restart profile verification separately to test unit-level coverage, not only axis-level partialness, and refresh dependent synthesis/verification/assembly/publication through the supported route. Re-audit changed bytes. Do not merely add this audit as a public caveat.
Recovery category assessment
- Local assessment/synthesis repair: established need. H1 is a profile coverage/classification regression; a partial unit with the recorded unresolved branch is the bounded repair candidate, with dependent public review refreshed.
- Deep reconstruction: not established as necessary. Replay and workflow mechanisms remain supported; no new boundary/source acquisition is justified by H1. Stop before trying to reconstruct arbitrary input provenance or reclassify every workflow source value.
- Operational/authority disposition: no new consequential authority violation established in selected evidence. Completion/exit alone is not clearance; historical and uninspected worker obligations remain uncertified.
- Binding/incumbent stop: none established. Current map/effect/manifest and source/method binding agree; no exact integrated incumbent found. The hold is content-based, not a binding failure.

Stored judgment outcomes also record the separate 000070 refusal of identifier-based replay selection. 000071 removes that unsupported signal and final profile rationale explicitly distinguishes stack/cursor progression from an identity match. Preserve that successful correction; it does not correct H1. No exhaustive worker read, write-scope, invocation-compliance or provider audit was attempted. No target behavior was observed by this audit.
Validation
From W, the exact prepared command was:
/home/zby/llm/commonplace/.commonplace/worktrees/jaz-a94bea79c61a/.venv/bin/commonplace-validate kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained/jaz
Exit 0; output:
VALIDATION SUCCESS
Target: kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained/jaz
Scope: kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained/jaz
Files analysed: 1
Text files: 0
Diagnostics: 0 failures across 0 subjects; 0 warnings across 0 subjects
Details: commonplace-validate --full kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained/jaz
This is one assembled artifact, not 13 independent reported validations. No notices, including unavailable-source or quotation notices, were emitted. This is deterministic validation, not semantic clearance of H1 or independent verification of every quotation's analytical use.
From W, ran the same exact prepared executable with absolute target /home/zby/llm/commonplace/kb/work/agentic-system-reruns/audits/batches-19-20/AAS-2026-10-15-jaz-a94bea79c61a-01.md. Exit 0: VALIDATION SUCCESS; Target and Scope both that absolute path; Files analysed: 1; Text files: 1; Diagnostics: 0 failures across 0 subjects; 0 warnings across 0 subjects. No notices were emitted. This checks implicit workshop-text admissibility, not the audit's semantic conclusions.
Limits and stop
The public account usefully preserves static evidence, replay concurrency, unsafe repeated effects, workflow equivalence, opaque external state and the unresolved afforded/wired weight-wrapper scope conflict. The latter appears with its prevented conclusion in synthesis, so it is a publishable recorded limit, not this hold's basis. No task success, reliable reflection, external training adoption or causal improvement follows from publication.
This audit is not a complete profile reclassification or all-source reconstruction. It stops at the specific reintroduced unit-coverage defect. It does not decide whether every old positive trace-source value should be restored, inspect unshipped evaluators, execute replay, or widen the boundary. Parent owns recovery and integration. Current exact bytes remain held on H1.
