Whether these operators actually help average researchers or AI agents is asserted, not tested. He acknowledges this ("I can't document this statement") but the limitation remains. The heuristics are plausible and widely resonant, but their effectiveness is anecdotal.

No discussion of when operators fail or conflict. Shannon presents six operators as universally helpful. He does not address: when does simplification strip too much? When does generalization produce vacuous abstractions? When does restatement become aimless reformulation?
