Readability and flow

Make the artifact's structure carry its argument, so a reader meets each idea once, in the place it does the most work.

Effort: judgment. Structural moves need judgment; run tightening alone as simple when the assessment recommended nothing structural.

Structural moves, each applied only where the whole read shows the need:

• Surface the divergence. The sentence a reader would repeat when recommending the artifact belongs in the opening or the claim section, not two-thirds in.
• Group comparison cases. Formal and empirical comparisons sit in one section, formal first, so the argument section runs without interruption.
• State the comparison basis. A section that says what a route gains names what it is compared against in its first sentence.
• Deduplicate caveats. When a caveat appears twice, keep the one nearest its mechanism and cut the other; do not cross-reference.
• Split and merge at argument boundaries. Split a paragraph that carries two subjects; merge adjacent short paragraphs on one subject with a connective that says how they relate.
• Tighten. Remove words that add no content, semicolon splices, and clauses that restate the previous sentence.

Read the seams after each move. A relocated paragraph's first sentence must work in its new place.

Report: each structural move in one line, and the count of sentence-level edits. Do not list tightening edits individually.

Preserve: every claim, example, link, and qualification. If a move would require choosing between two readings of a sentence, leave it and flag it.
