EAL-Bench runtime report
Type: agentic-system-analyses/types/agentic-system-runtime-report.md
Runtime account
Work and evidence basis
EAL-Bench runs bounded authorization-memory experiments. It constructs or generates memory, presents a request and evidence to an executor model, and scores the returned terminal tool call against domain authorization semantics. In the inspected benchmark executor path, “execute” is a scored decision, not a purchase, transfer or cybersecurity operation sent to an organizational service. The deterministic oracle measures the decision after model generation; it is not an authorization veto before a real-world transaction. See RT-RTE-executor-score and RT-RTE-alternate-consumers.
All evidence below is SRC-1 implementation or explicitly labelled doctrine/design at the boundary revision. Added inspection covers the concrete executor scorer, context construction, writer manager and validation, checkpoint continuation, closed-loop driver, Procurement tool semantics and candidate selection, event reducer, Inspect generation and generic callback loop. No target code, tests, examples or provider calls were executed. No supplied run trace or causal experiment was established here. Wiring does not establish activation, reliable model compliance or benefit. The primary historical archive limitation in the boundary remains; reports under results/ were not used as observed runs.
Ordinary shipped invocation
An operator invokes python -m experiments.run with a registered domain, study, target IDs and selections. This is the operator's workflow request, not a grant from a principal in the fictional organizational history. Domain case identities, writer profile/chain identities, memory/evidence identities, executor target/run/seed and call/context/trial identities are separate. The CLI prints a call plan and, for live scheduled calls, requires a cost estimate. That check does not meter expenditure or approve individual generated contents (SRC-1, experiments/run.py). The ordinary writer-backed path is RT-RTE-study-execution.
The shared engine calibrates memory capacity, resolves presentation and targets, writes a running manifest and dispatches writer chains. The writer receives benchmark instructions, a single existing profile and update messages. Its natural-language inference proposes typed or free-text authorization content through LangMem; software enforces profile identity, schema, visible source identifiers and optional capacity. Rejected candidates can receive one structural repair attempt; an existing accepted profile survives rejection. Admission does not establish that a source actually authorizes the remembered grant. The admission owner and its bounded strength are in RT-RTE-writer-admission.
The engine then applies optional post-writer builders or reviewers, validates jobs, freezes the pre-execution bundle and executor plan, and either pauses for inspection or submits executors. These are explicit host callbacks, not recursive delegation chosen by the foreground model (SRC-1, experiments/authorization_memory/study_engine.py). Candidate selection is a distinct admission mechanism, RT-RTE-candidate-selection.
For an ordinary executor job, code chooses full history, persistent memory or empty evidence. It serializes typed payloads to JSON text and encloses them in a user message beside the current request and executor instruction; the domain system prompt is separate. A fresh message list is made for each job. The model does not automatically inherit the writer's hidden reasoning or full conversation. A job can instead supply its own messages, and pressure/challenge preparation can change context; therefore the default two-message construction is not universal (SRC-1, experiments/authorization_memory/pipeline.py).
The executor returns one completion with native tool definitions. The runner scores, rather than invokes, its tool call. Procurement recognizes submit_order, request_authorization and decline_order; exact requested action, other action, decline and escalation receive distinct results. Provider errors, no terminal call and multiple calls have separate scoring branches. Trials retain raw selected tool name/arguments and provenance. Calls, memories, attempts, states, evidence, trials and model contexts are persisted as applicable; manifests include hashes, counts, requested/resolved and response-reported models. Failure marks the manifest failed and rethrows (SRC-1, experiments/authorization_memory/pipeline.py, domains/procurement/adapter.py, experiments/authorization_memory/study_engine.py).
Four forcing cases and alternate paths
- Visible provenance but wrong authority. The baseline validator rejects unseen source IDs, not every false authorization interpretation. A structurally valid grant citing a visible non-authorizing turn is not excluded by that check alone. The optional cited-source gate filters authority-incapable citations, but still does not test textual entailment, scope or lifecycle correctness. Thus neither gate supports a system-wide “memory is authorized” invariant. See RT-RTE-writer-admission and RT-RTE-authority-gate.
- Multiple terminal calls or direct callback execution. In the benchmark scorer, any consequential call is preferred for retained raw-call selection, but multiple calls yield
INVALID, not a valid unauthorized-action trial. In contrast, the shipped genericrun_tool_loopactually invokes supplied Python handlers without consulting this scorer. Inspect's shipped solver deliberately does not resolve tools. A scoring guarantee is therefore limited to scoring consumers, not all shipped tool-capable code. See RT-RTE-executor-score and RT-RTE-alternate-consumers. - Interruption after writer formation. A saved checkpoint separates formation/selection from executor calls. Continuation validates immutable bundle files and reconstructed call identities and schedules missing executor jobs, rather than regenerating the writer. Reviewer-backed checkpoint resume is explicitly rejected. This is a recovery protocol, not exactly-once provider execution or filesystem tamper isolation. See RT-RTE-checkpoint-resume.
- Executor outcomes entering later context. The closed-loop driver creates action/outcome or neutral blocks after requests, seeds the writer with current memory, and supplies accepted memory to later requests. It can use the original writer or executor target as loop writer. Optional action logs add cumulative outcome text. This is an implemented feedback channel, not merely log retention, but it does not establish that later behavior changed or improved. See RT-RTE-closed-feedback.
Bounded event sourcing is a further material writer alternative: models propose lifecycle events; deterministic software applies structurally accepted deltas to a cloned reducer, checks reduced-state capacity, and returns a candidate state. It is not the LangMem profile-update admission path. See RT-RTE-event-admission. Source-authority, event-sourcing, full-history/empty controls, saved-memory replay, candidate review and oracle-only selection therefore must not be collapsed into a single ordinary writer loop.
Control boundaries and guarantees
The capability surface includes model requests, native tool schemas, arbitrary configured endpoint routing, domain/build/review/finalizer callbacks and the generic handler loop. A benchmark executor's current grant is the supplied domain tool schema; its inspected runner does not dispatch those tools into real organizational systems. Python handlers in the separate loop have whatever authority the embedding process grants them. Neither process privileges nor a deployed sandbox, approval service, container or provider-native server-tool isolation envelope was established by this inspection. These unknowns do not erase the inspected distinction between scoring and handler execution (SRC-1, src/eal_bench/llm/client.py, experiments/authorization_memory/pipeline.py).
| Guarantee or control | Owner and enforcement point | Strength and covered paths | Alternate path / required contract | Conclusions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One existing writer profile, no insertion/deletion | Benchmark wrapper configures LangMem and validates returned profile ID and underlying call | protocol; inspected LangMem writer path | Controlled memories, event extraction and candidate selection use other mechanisms; external LangMem must honor its interface | implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected |
| Writer payload shape, source-ID visibility and capacity | _validate_payload before artifact construction |
invariant for successful admission under that function's configured checks | Capacity may be disabled by plan metadata; free text has different structural checks; no semantic authorization invariant | implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected |
| Single terminal tool response for a valid scored trial | _score_executor_response counts returned calls |
invariant within this scorer | Generic handler loop bypasses it; provider output and argument transport must remain inspectable | implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected |
| Formation frozen before executor work | shared engine checkpoint plus resume hash/identity checks | protocol for writer-backed shared-engine path | Closed-loop and mitigation-specific recovery are not proved identical; trusted local filesystem and supplied manifests needed | implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected |
| Cost-plan acknowledgement | main CLI checks estimate presence | policy, not spend cap | Direct Python APIs can bypass CLI; provider billing remains external | implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected |
The source-supported countercases narrow each guarantee to its enforcement point. The direct client resolves target/provider and declared capabilities, uses process-local route gates, retries retryable failures and logs requests/responses/errors. Task, SDK and batch retries are different layers. An accepted seed capability or recorded response-model string is not deterministic output or immutable weights. The LangMem writer uses a separate model factory and callback logger, so direct-client transport behavior cannot simply be assigned to it (SRC-1, src/eal_bench/llm/client.py, config.yaml, experiments/authorization_memory/langmem_writer.py). The distributed-parametric component limits are recorded below.
Working-context controls are primarily code-built frames: writer calls receive current compact profile and selected update messages; executors receive selected frozen evidence and request; reviewers receive full source history and blinded candidates; event writers are designed to receive compact previous state and new block, not cumulative event log. Repair feedback can carry rejected arguments. Closed-loop action logs are an explicit alternative to compact-only context. These are input selection and isolation boundaries, not evidence of learned eviction or hidden host compaction. Return values escape these frames into artifacts and later consumers. Unlike a true reference-following heap, a serialized memory ID does not itself make its payload model-visible: the host must select and serialize the payload (SRC-1, experiments/authorization_memory/langmem_writer.py, experiments/authorization_memory/pipeline.py, domains/procurement/studies/writer_ttc.py, experiments/closed_loop.py; event-writer context is doctrine/design in experiments/mitigations/README.md).
Product code and domain policies are shipped inputs. The inspected model-facing paths admit memory contents, event deltas and candidate choices, not model-authored executable product patches or model-weight updates. A complete product-maintenance workflow audit was not performed; this statement is local to these inspected paths, not an evidenced repository-wide absence. Domain-specific extension drivers, every study builder, provider internals and historical result artifacts remain uninspected here where not specifically named. This prevents exhaustive control-path equivalence, not the positive baseline and countercases above. Detailed retained-memory semantics and revisions are left to the memory member.

Components
RT-CMP-writer-model
Label: LangMem writer model
The writer is a configured hosted language model used through create_langchain_chat_model or a supplied langchain_model_factory. Representational form: distributed-parametric; substrate: external provider model service, not repository-stored weights. This inspected route submits inference and profile patches, not parameter updates. Whether the service changes parameters internally is uninspected. Exact weights/version are not pinned by the Git revision; target IDs resolve provider/model strings, and mutable endpoints or aliases can resolve differently. Requested/resolved/response-reported identities are evidence metadata, not weight attestation. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/authorization_memory/langmem_writer.py; configuration: config.yaml.

RT-CMP-executor-model
Label: Executor model
A configured hosted completion model supplies executor tool-call responses. Representational form: distributed-parametric; substrate: external service behind an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The inspected executor path requests inference and does not train parameters. Provider-internal parameter changes are uninspected; exact weight versions are not pinned. Mutable endpoints can resolve another model despite stable target labels. Returned model identifiers are recorded, not authenticated. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/authorization_memory/pipeline.py, src/eal_bench/llm/client.py; doctrine/configuration: config.yaml.

The Procurement best-of-k reviewer is a separately configurable completion target, with source history and blinded candidates. Representational form: distributed-parametric; substrate: external service through the direct client. The inspected selector requests inference, not weight updates; internal parameter changes remain uninspected. Its exact weights/version are not pinned and its mutable endpoint can resolve another model. Oracle-only selection is symbolic code, not this component. RT-OBJ-executor-plan
Label: Frozen executor plan and checkpoint bundle
Source-native executor plan plus writer bundle artifacts are symbolic serialized records on the run-directory filesystem. They identify selected evidence, target, run, seed, planned call IDs and file hashes. They support continuation and audit, not model-visible authority by themselves. Content becomes model-visible only through job reconstruction and message construction. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/authorization_memory/study_engine.py, experiments/authorization_memory/resume.py.

Routes
RT-RTE-study-execution
Label: Shared study execution
Endpoints: operator CLI/domain study plan to writer chains, prepared executor jobs and persistent run directory. Owner: shared study engine; next-step policy is symbolic plan dispatch, not model planning. State includes calibrated capacity, memories, attempts, evidence, contexts and run manifest. Model inference supplies bounded writer/executor decisions. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/run.py, experiments/authorization_memory/study_engine.py.
- Immediate return: Run-directory Path after completion, or after an explicitly requested writer-checkpoint pause.
- Later read-back: Saved evidence and checkpoint artifacts can feed replay, mitigation or continuation routes; not every log is automatically reused.
- Delegated visibility: Writers and executors receive separately assembled contexts; host callbacks receive the WriterRunBundle or prepared artifacts.
- Selection predicate: Domain, corpus, presentation, study, case selection, configured targets, writer/executor repetitions and plan jobs.
- Invalidation or expiry: Identity collisions and checkpoint hash changes cause errors; no wall-clock expiry is established for retained run artifacts.
- Activation or effect: Creates model requests and persisted experiment artifacts; actual model compliance and successful runs remain unobserved.
- Evidence limits: Shared-engine source establishes orchestration, not every domain builder's equivalence or live operation.

experiments/authorization_memory/study_engine.py
The operator proposes study/configuration choices; code validates the plan and may reject it. Cost acknowledgement is operator input, not per-memory human review. This is a bounded experiment mode; expected authorization outcomes come from domain semantics during scoring, not from the operator's launch approval. Memory admission and candidate selection have their own owners below.
RT-RTE-writer-admission
Label: Single-profile memory admission
Endpoints: current profile plus WriterUpdateSpec to candidate payload, validated artifact and FrozenEvidence. Owner: benchmark wrapper around LangMem. Model proposes changes under domain writer/source/state instructions; software decides structural acceptance and can veto. No per-candidate human approval is present in this inspected mechanism. Persistent contents are typed authorization data or free text, not executable product changes. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/authorization_memory/langmem_writer.py.
- Immediate return: WriterRunArtifacts containing accepted memories, attempts, state rows, final evidence and model contexts.
- Later read-back: Accepted profile seeds later writer updates and frozen memory supplies executor jobs.
- Delegated visibility: Manager gets one existing profile, supplied update messages, instructions and optional structural repair detail, not an automatically inherited executor transcript.
- Selection predicate: WriterChainSpec target/architecture/run grouping; each logical update selects its current profile and visible source IDs.
- Invalidation or expiry: Wrong profile identity, malformed payload, invisible citations or enforced token overflow reject the candidate; prior accepted memory is retained where available.
- Activation or effect: Accepted changed payload becomes a new artifact; unchanged payload is distinguished from invalid output. Later behavioral change is unobserved.
- Evidence limits: Structural checks do not prove source entailment or correct authorization; external LangMem implementation is not frozen.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

Trigger: configured one-shot/incremental update, seeded continuation or repair. Guidance asks for current authorization state and prohibits multiple profiles; the payload, attempt diagnostics and lineage persist. Rejection permits at most the configured one or two attempts, with feedback on structural defects, not hidden gold-state correction. Guarantee owner is wrapper validation; strength is protocol for profile identity and invariant for enabled local checks, not semantic authorization. Operating mode is bounded benchmark writing; no gold answer oracle participates in _validate_payload. See RT-CMP-writer-model.
RT-RTE-executor-score
Label: Executor generation and deterministic scoring
Endpoints: ExecutorJob plus frozen evidence to native-tool completion and NormalizedTrial. Owner: batch runner, then domain scorer. Model chooses a terminal response; symbolic code parses and evaluates it against the case ledger. Procurement's authorized issuers and ledger, not the remembered grant, supply the answer oracle. Model judgment is not that oracle. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/authorization_memory/pipeline.py, domains/procurement/adapter.py.
- Immediate return: Trials and model contexts; failed calls can become provider-error trials rather than losing their slots.
- Later read-back: Persisted trials can support analysis or the explicitly wired closed-loop write-back; ordinary executor calls do not independently revise memory.
- Delegated visibility: Fresh message list contains selected evidence and request/policy; writer internal reasoning is not passed through.
- Selection predicate: Validated jobs crossed with target/run/seed, or job-frozen execution identities; explicit messages override default construction.
- Invalidation or expiry: Missing terminal calls are NO_ACTION; multiple calls are INVALID; malformed arguments are invalid. Domain oracle can use a checkpoint block index.
- Activation or effect: Scores emitted calls; this path does not dispatch a real order/transfer. Model behavior behind the evidence remains unobserved here.
- Evidence limits: One-response source inspection supports scoring semantics, not deployed authorization prevention or model reliability.

The scorer can reject validity but cannot veto a provider generation already made. Its single-call invariant covers both internal and delegating public scorer paths, not generic handlers. Immediate return is a measurement, not approval to execute outside the benchmark. Operating mode: bounded experiment/replay. Component: RT-CMP-executor-model.
RT-RTE-checkpoint-resume
Label: Frozen writer checkpoint continuation
Endpoints: saved run manifest/bundle/calls to reconstructed missing executor jobs and completed artifacts. Owner: resume validation and driver. Symbolic identities and hashes govern progression; no writer model is asked to regenerate accepted contents. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/authorization_memory/resume.py.
- Immediate return: Resumed run-directory Path after reconstruction and persistence, or error with failed manifest.
- Later read-back: Reads saved selected evidence and planned calls; completed calls reconstruct trials and contexts.
- Delegated visibility: Executors receive reconstructed selected evidence; no new writer/reviewer context is delegated on this path.
- Selection predicate: Missing call IDs after manifest, checkpoint, route, artifact and saved-call compatibility checks.
- Invalidation or expiry: Changed checkpoint artifacts or mismatched identities reject continuation; reviewer-backed writer checkpoint resume is rejected.
- Activation or effect: Issues missing executor calls and rebuilds scored outputs; no exactly-once provider-side effect guarantee follows.
- Evidence limits: Code-grounded recovery protocol only; interruption experiments and mitigation-specific continuation were not executed.

Guarantee owner is local validation, strength protocol, requiring trustworthy source artifacts and provider response contracts. The RT-OBJ-executor-plan is symbolic recovery state, not a new authorization source.
RT-RTE-candidate-selection
Label: Procurement memory candidate selection
Endpoints: candidate pools/source history to one selected memory and executor jobs. Owner: Procurement writer_ttc expansion. In review mode a model proposes one complete candidate, cannot edit/merge it, and code parses the blinded label; in oracle-only mode deterministic fidelity comparison selects minimum field error with minimum-index tie break. SRC-1 implementation: domains/procurement/studies/writer_ttc.py.
- Immediate return: Selection decisions/contexts and selected evidence/jobs from expansion.
- Later read-back: Selected evidence becomes executor input and persisted selection rows can be reused by source-only modes.
- Delegated visibility: Live reviewer receives full source history and deterministically blinded candidate payloads; oracle-only code reads typed payload fidelity.
- Selection predicate: Candidate pools keyed by case/condition and target pool size; reviewer label mapping or typed oracle field-error minimum.
- Invalidation or expiry: Parser rejects unknown labels, wrong tool or multiple calls; saved review surfaces are checked against context hashes in review-only reuse.
- Activation or effect: Selects a complete retained candidate for downstream replay, not a product-code or weight update.
- Evidence limits: Selection wiring and requested reviewer policy are inspected; actual review quality, benefit and error fallback behavior beyond inspected selection surfaces remain unobserved.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

Trigger: best-of-k study or explicit saved-pool reuse. Candidate writers propose; live reviewer selects; code can reject malformed selection. No per-selection human approval is established. Guidance is explicit source support and latest authorization state; selected memory and decision metadata persist. Gold fidelity is an answer oracle in oracle-only mode, not in the ordinary review prompt. This is a bounded comparison, not an open-ended self-improvement loop. Broader theory-builder properties are not inferred from scoring/selecting variants. Component: RT-CMP-reviewer-model.
RT-RTE-authority-gate
Label: Cited-source authority gate
Endpoints: remembered typed authorizations plus case/checkpoint to filtered typed memory and per-record decisions. Owner: deterministic mitigation gate using domain-provided source authority metadata. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/mitigations/source_authority/gate.py; limits and replay intent are doctrine/design in experiments/mitigations/README.md.
- Immediate return: Gated state, input/retained counts and citation decisions.
- Later read-back: Mitigation study is designed to replay original and gated saved memory on the same requests.
- Delegated visibility: Gate sees record citations and gold source metadata; executor receives the resulting memory, not necessarily gate diagnostics.
- Selection predicate: Retain a record only when every cited source is nonempty, visible and authority-capable.
- Invalidation or expiry: Missing, unknown, future or authority-incapable provenance rejects that record; temporal visibility follows checkpoint, not retention TTL.
- Activation or effect: Removes failed records from authorizations; semantic accuracy and behavioral improvement are not established.
- Evidence limits: Core filtering is implementation evidence; replay orchestration here is documented, not an observed mitigation run.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

experiments/mitigations/README.md
Trigger: source-authority mitigation on saved typed memories. Existing writers supplied the proposed contents; software gate decides survival and can reject records without human review. Domain metadata supplies the gold source-authority reference, not a model oracle. Recovery/comparison keeps the original saved memory arm rather than destroying it. Guidance is a fixed every-citation rule; filtered memory and diagnostic decisions are the products. Guarantee strength: invariant for the core predicate, not correct authorization across all paths.
RT-RTE-event-admission
Label: Bounded event delta admission
Endpoints: model-extracted lifecycle delta and prior reducer to candidate reduced typed state and events. Owner: structural validator and PublicEventReducer, with domain lifecycle rules. Symbolic event fields have fixed application rules; event proposal still depends on model interpretation of text. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/mitigations/event_sourcing/core.py; context/retry/persistence protocol is doctrine/design in experiments/mitigations/README.md.
- Immediate return: EventBatchValidation with parsed events, reduced state and candidate reducer.
- Later read-back: Documented study appends accepted deltas to external cumulative event log and supplies compact current state to later updates/executors.
- Delegated visibility: Documented event writer sees previous compact typed state and new raw block, not the cumulative log.
- Selection predicate: Issue/patch/revoke/replace event types, visible nonempty source IDs, addressable targets, expected fields, at most 32 events and reduced-state capacity.
- Invalidation or expiry: Bad fields, unseen citations, unavailable targets or capacity overflow raise before returning candidate; candidate is cloned from prior reducer.
- Activation or effect: Candidate events literally change reduced authorization state; no semantic entailment or improved model decisions is proved by structural acceptance.
- Evidence limits: Core atomic candidate construction is inspected; the full event-runner recovery mechanism and live execution are not established here.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

experiments/mitigations/event_sourcing/core.py
Trigger: each event-writer update. Model proposes deltas; code can reject them; no per-delta human decision is established. Guidance is public lifecycle extraction, not gold semantic correction; the implementation calls this structural validation only. The documented protocol allows at most two structural attempts and retains previous state on failure. The retained products are event log and reduced memory, not revised executable machinery. Operating mode is bounded paired mitigation; gold/canonical event helpers elsewhere in the core are not evidence that this live validator uses a semantic answer oracle.
RT-RTE-closed-feedback
Label: Action-outcome memory feedback
Endpoints: executor trial/current memory to synthesized block, seeded writer update and subsequent executor evidence. Owner: closed-loop driver; code orders requests and constructs feedback, model proposes memory revision, baseline writer admission decides acceptance. SRC-1 implementation: experiments/closed_loop.py.
- Immediate return: Per-step writer artifacts and executor trials; final persisted written_back/formation rows, memories, evidence, contexts and summary.
- Later read-back: Accepted seeded profile reaches later requests in the same configured chain; optional cumulative action log reaches later writer updates.
- Delegated visibility: Same-writer mode receives rendered conversation block; alternative loop-writer mode can receive ACTION_OUTCOME request/action/payload/result text. Neutral control omits request/action/outcome; optional log is explicit.
- Selection predicate: Domain cases/conditions, ordered probes, rounds, action/neutral arm, current chain memory and selected original-writer or executor target.
- Invalidation or expiry: Rejected update leaves seed memory current; final request has no further writer update; configured round count terminates the loop.
- Activation or effect: Wires executor-output-derived information into later model-visible memory. Delivery is established by code; behavior change and improvement are unobserved.
- Evidence limits: No closed-loop trace or intervention results were inspected; synthesized outcomes describe benchmark decisions, not external real-world effects.

Trigger: each nonfinal loop request after executor scoring. Computational driver supplies feedback, writer proposes and software can veto; launch options do not approve each payload. Domain/system instructions and optional writer prefix shape updates. Persistence includes accepted memory and input/outcome records. Recovery here is local seed retention, not proven shared-checkpoint resume equivalence. This is a bounded action/neutral comparison from identical base memories. Scorer decisions contribute feedback labels; they are not evidence of gold corrections being supplied as authorization grants. No exercised learning or self-improvement conclusion follows from the feedback wiring alone.
RT-RTE-alternate-consumers
Label: Reusable scoring, Inspect and generic tool handlers
Endpoints: external responses or configured model completions to scored outcomes, versus completion tool calls to supplied Python handlers. These are distinct consumer paths sharing model/tool representations, not identical effect boundaries. Owner: public scorer/Inspect solver or generic loop host, respectively. SRC-1 implementation: src/eal_bench/eval/scoring.py, src/eal_bench/eval/inspect_adapter.py, src/eal_bench/llm/client.py.
- Immediate return: Public TrialOutcome or Inspect solver state; generic loop returns accumulated messages when the model stops, or raises at max turns.
- Later read-back: Generic loop feeds handler results into subsequent model turns; durable retention is inapplicable — this helper only carries its current message list. Public persistence belongs to the caller unless a shipped driver supplies it.
- Delegated visibility: Generic handlers receive parsed JSON keyword arguments; model receives serialized results. Inspect preserves raw argument strings for scoring and deliberately does not resolve tool calls.
- Selection predicate: Public caller supplies trial/response; Inspect uses supplied EAL task tools; generic loop dispatches by returned name in the caller-supplied handler mapping.
- Invalidation or expiry: Unknown generic handler becomes error text; malformed JSON or handler errors are not caught here; max_turns bounds continuation.
- Activation or effect: Public/Inspect consumers score; generic handlers can perform caller-granted Python effects without this benchmark scorer as a veto.
- Evidence limits: No arbitrary external host's grants, sandbox or persistence behavior is inferred. Current loop state is not durable memory by itself.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

RT-CLM-memory-attribution
Label: Bounded memory-induced failure attribution
The reusable-interface doctrine requires formation before executor runs, action behind written memory, and no corresponding action behind oracle-exact memory before attributing a request to memory-induced failure. This is a declared evaluation contract, not a verified causal result in this report. SRC-1 doctrine/design: docs/reusable_api.md; runtime scoring does not alone establish all three conditions.
An unauthorized action alone is never reported as a memory-induced failure. ---
