Source-and-claim boundary
Question: what licenses reliance on remembered facts, operational observations, improvement judgments and generated software, and what consumes those results? Scope and exclusions are those of the boundary; evidence identities are in its Source register. SRC-1 supplies implementation and doctrine/design only. HEAD was checked against the frozen revision. No target, test, provider or example was executed. No execution trace or causal comparison is supplied.
The application is assessed, not the external models' weights or internal reasoning. New direct reads extend the boundary's initial inspection without adding a source. Runtime findings remain provisional, not an inspection ceiling. The coverage below is deliberately partial within the whole-system functional boundary: it supports independent positive routes, not a system-complete negative about acceptance or knowledge production.
| Entry point or operation | Source path and reading basis | Covering records or remaining limit |
|---|---|---|
| Chat actions, final answer and task publication/update | Supplied runtime: SRC-1 src/enoch/app/conversation.py, src/enoch/app/task_workflow.py, src/enoch/operations/updater.py |
RT-RTE-chat-actions, RT-RTE-task-work, RT-RTE-software-update; no answer oracle for general chat |
| Admin learn, doctor, inherit and updater dispatch | Direct bounded CLI dispatch/search: SRC-1 src/enoch/cli.py; complete selected learn functions in src/enoch/learn.py |
Admin learn only inspects/formats a snapshot; chat performs model assessment. See skill-assessment record. Admin updater is the supplied runtime's alternate admission path |
| Memory extraction, write admission, prompt selection, forgetting | Direct: SRC-1 src/enoch/prompt_append.py, complete src/enoch/memory/store.py, src/enoch/memory/prompt.py, src/enoch/memory/paths.py, selected src/enoch/app/core.py |
Memory records below; explicit store API and model-final-text writes differ in attribution |
| Feedback/experience scan and synthesis | Direct selected functions: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/evidence.py, src/enoch/evolution/core.py, src/enoch/app/core.py |
Evidence-scan and synthesis records; scheduler activation supplied by runtime |
| Candidate recommendation, resolution evidence and removal | Direct selected functions: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/curation.py, src/enoch/evolution/core.py, src/enoch/app/core.py |
Curation and removal records; authority labels are bounded predicates, not causal proof |
| Published skill assessment/adaptation | Direct selected functions: SRC-1 src/enoch/learn.py, src/enoch/evolution/core.py, src/enoch/app/core.py |
Skill record; remote source contents/service authenticity outside acquired evidence |
| Direct-parent assessment/adoption | Direct selected assessment functions: SRC-1 src/enoch/lineage/assessment.py; supplied adoption branch |
Lineage record and RT-RTE-lineage-adoption; discovery and post-merge reconciliation remain uninspected, preventing a complete lineage-warrant account |
| Regression marking and resolution | Direct: SRC-1 src/enoch/prompt_append.py, selected src/enoch/app/core.py, src/enoch/workflows/local.py, src/enoch/tasks/queue.py |
Regression record; not an actual repository reversion |
| Learning-artifact record | Complete direct read: SRC-1 src/enoch/automatic_learning.py |
Learning-artifact record; all later artifact consumers not traced |
| Doctor | Direct aggregate/subprocess functions: SRC-1 src/enoch/immune.py; supplied publication and update consumers |
Doctor record; individual provider/storage check internals and tests not audited, preventing general semantic-correctness conclusions |
| Registered tools, extension/profile hooks and provider-native tools | Command registry/search: SRC-1 src/enoch/commands.py, src/enoch/app/core.py; supplied extension loading/runtime adapter findings |
RT-RTE-extension-loading, RT-CMP-codex-model, RT-CMP-claude-model. Installed plugins/profile bodies and provider-native evaluators opaque; no universal enforcement or knowledge-production negative |
| Host migration, conformance, broader identity maintenance, image interpretation and remaining library-specific operations | Migration supplied by runtime; remaining semantic transformations not directly inspected | RT-RTE-host-migration. Missing deeper source inspection prevents completeness about warrant-preserving transfer, identity revision, visual claims and alternate evaluators; available files are not access gaps |
Knowledge/improvement claims are EPI-CLM-governed-evolution and EPI-CLM-validated-evidence. The semantic human-control claim is also bounded by RT-CLM-merge-authorization. Missing live state/trace prevents conclusions about particular accepted memories, assessments, actual deployment or later benefit. Missing model internals prevents model-weight learning or fixed-version conclusions; model-driven routes below remain implemented requests, not evidence of reliable model compliance.
Epistemic-object inventory
The objects split text from metadata consumed under fixed rules. Truth-apt content and scope are owned by the cited records; no extant instance or observed provenance is inferred from their schemas.
| Object ID | Candidate truth-apt content or none | Claimed role | Evidence source ID and local anchor | Gap/limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EPI-OBJ-memory-text | see record | Remembered context | SRC-1 src/enoch/memory/store.py |
Clipping and missing provenance on final-text save |
| EPI-OBJ-memory-metadata | see record | Admission/ranking labels | SRC-1 src/enoch/memory/store.py |
Confidence is an input label, not calibrated evidence |
| EPI-OBJ-evidence-signal | see record | Observation and desired outcome | SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/evidence.py |
References checked; support of observation not programmatically checked |
| EPI-OBJ-candidate-draft | see record | Improvement proposal | SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/evidence.py |
Expected benefit untested |
| EPI-OBJ-semantic-curation | see record | Recommendation/removal judgment | SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/curation.py |
Resolution predicates do not prove relevance |
| EPI-OBJ-published-skill | see record | Imported reference | SRC-1 src/enoch/learn.py |
Identity/hash support lineage, not external source truth |
| EPI-OBJ-lineage-assessment | see record | Factual summary and applicability | SRC-1 src/enoch/lineage/assessment.py |
Bounded incomplete diff |
| EPI-OBJ-regression-signal | see record | Change reliance on completed-work status | SRC-1 src/enoch/prompt_append.py |
No independent reproduction or fix test in status route |
| EPI-OBJ-learning-artifact | see record | Work-result record | SRC-1 src/enoch/automatic_learning.py |
Result summary is clipped text, not verified acquired skill |
| RT-OBJ-validation-diagnostics | see record | Repair evidence | SRC-1 src/enoch/app/validation_repair.py |
General requirements not exhausted by doctor |
| RT-OBJ-conversation-journal | see record | Effect receipt/uncertainty | SRC-1 src/enoch/app/conversation.py |
Completion does not establish proposition truth |
Authority-route ledger
Each function below is separate even when one record describes the linked implementation. Fields owned by that record say see. No inspected route supplies lifecycle integration of an evidence-accepted ampliative proposition: candidate linking/retention and approval for work are different functions. This is a limit of the selected routes, not a system-complete absence.

Bounded conclusion
Enoch implements several distinct reliance paths, not a single epistemic verdict.
- Remembered propositions receive lexical/schema admission, persistence and later budgeted descriptive-context use. Model-final-text saves acquire explicit/high labels without corresponding provenance or evidence checks. Clipping and dropping metadata can degrade delivered evidence. Forgetting withdraws the store item, not every past copy. See EPI-RTE-memory-store and EPI-RTE-memory-withdrawal.
- Feedback and task records feed model-authored observations and improvement candidates. Known-reference predicates reject invented identifiers but do not verify support, causal mechanisms or expected benefits. Admission, evidence linking and ranking occur before any demonstrated epistemic acceptance. No concrete accepted ampliative proposition or checked derivation from warranted premises is established. Semantic transformation remains indeterminate without instances; this is separate from the implemented acquisition and structural predicates. See EPI-RTE-evidence-scan and EPI-RTE-evidence-synthesis.
- Candidate resolution has a real evidence-consumption gate: partial/unpromoted body completion does not suffice for authoritative-body resolution. This is stronger than a free-form model judgment, but does not prove the cited body change resolved this candidate. Recommendation selects a proposal; removal requires another command and changes eligibility, not deployed software. See EPI-RTE-candidate-curation and EPI-RTE-candidate-removal.
- Imported skills retain revision/path/hash for adaptation lineage. Source warrant is unknown; applicability and lineage summaries are model judgments admitted by schemas. Their operational license is candidate retention or permission to request adaptation, not acceptance of transfer correctness. Admin learn differs from chat assessment. See EPI-RTE-skill-assessment and EPI-RTE-lineage-assessment.
- Doctor supplies an evidence-consuming acceptance criterion for ordinary new-change publication and updater restart: configured checks pass over the selected repository/readiness domain. Intended use is progression to review or restart, not general epistemic endorsement of claims, immutable tests or safe arbitrary behavior. Failures feed bounded repairs or attempted rollback. These enforcing consumers and their alternate branches are separate from model plausibility. See EPI-RTE-doctor-checks, RT-RTE-task-work and RT-RTE-software-update.
- Regression markers change status and later experience evidence under transition constraints without independent reproduction/fix verification. “Reverted” is status, not an actual revert. Learning-artifact retention is not successful learning. See EPI-RTE-regression-status and EPI-RTE-learning-artifact.
The evidence-directed own-body proposal/task/update chain affords improvement-directed self-change. Its objective is mission/theme-directed reliability or capability, independently specified in prompts and candidate expected benefits. Evidence can shape a proposed update; checkout activation and later executable authority are wired in the runtime. No supplied trace closes actual organization change, live later consumption and causally dependent subsequent behavior for a particular update. Successful learning and exercised self-improvement are therefore unestablished, independently of the implemented proposal capacity. Observation and causal comparison would be needed for benefit attribution.
Self-representation is partial: records of own task operation can alter later proposals, and proposals can enter the own-body task route. That is an implemented feedback affordance, not proof that all reflected aspects are accurate or that both directions operated. Reflection, learning, autonomy and theory-building are not interchangeable. No particular formulated explanatory theory, content-directed criticism with blame placement, and retained criticism-driven next round is evidenced in these reads; task diagnosis and candidate ranking do not supply those conditions by their names. No global negative about inaccessible model processing or uninspected methods follows. Distributed-parametric mutability/version limits remain those of RT-CMP-codex-model and RT-CMP-claude-model; no parameter-update or fixed-weight conclusion is added.

Operative objects
EPI-OBJ-memory-text
Label: Long-term remembered text
Each memory text can assert preferences, project facts or decisions over the named subject/scope. Natural-language text stored in private memory/long_term.json; interpreted by the model, not executed as code.
Identity comparison: No counterpart among the supplied runtime objects; final-text admission is reached through RT-RTE-chat-actions.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/memory/store.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-memory-metadata
Label: Long-term memory labels
Symbolic type/scope/subject/source_refs/confidence/sensitivity/tags and timestamps in the same JSON. Labels describe provenance and confidence but cannot establish their truth. Fixed code uses normalized text identity and confidence/time ordering.
Identity comparison: Distinct operative part from memory text; no supplied counterpart.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/memory/store.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-evidence-signal
Label: EvidenceSignal
Natural-language observation/affected_area plus desired_outcome; observation can be true or false about referenced conversations or task events. Symbolic refs, confidence, explicit flag and status govern schema/linkage. Persisted evidence.jsonl separates references from the proposition they purportedly support.
Identity comparison: Material internal object of RT-RTE-evolve-admission, not identical to its whole route.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/evidence.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-candidate-draft
Label: EvidenceCandidateDraft
Natural-language rationale, expected_benefit, risk and test_plan can assert relations over Enoch changes; proposed_change itself is an intention. Symbolic evidence IDs/score govern ranking. Draft is transient, then an EvolveCandidate in the durable candidate store.
Identity comparison: Material internal object of RT-RTE-evolve-admission.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/evidence.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-semantic-curation
Label: SemanticCuration
Natural-language reasons/guidance and claims of duplicate/superseded/already-resolved status; symbolic candidate IDs, classifications and evidence refs. JSONL curation history stores recommendations and removal suggestions, not automatically removed candidates.
Identity comparison: Material internal object of RT-RTE-evolve-admission.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/curation.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-published-skill
Label: PublishedSkill
Natural-language imported instructions/description and YAML metadata, held in a snapshot with repository/revision/path/version/hash. Instructions need not be truth-apt; capability/compatibility claims can be. The assessment prompt receives the text and identifiers.
Identity comparison: No supplied object counterpart; relates to RT-RTE-evolve-admission through later adaptation candidate creation.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/learn.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-lineage-assessment
Label: Direct-parent assessment
Natural-language summary, behavioral_change, rationale, proposed_adaptation, risks and tests; symbolic applicability/confidence/schema version. Stored on inbox candidates by update_inbox_candidate. Truth-apt summary concerns the supplied parent change; applicability concerns current Enoch mission/architecture.
Identity comparison: Material object of RT-RTE-lineage-adoption; not the candidate-to-task route itself.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/lineage/assessment.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-regression-signal
Label: TaskRegressionSignal
Natural-language reason may assert failure/fix of a prior task; symbolic task ID, resolution and fix-task ID control status mutation. Transient parsed signal leads to durable queue history/events.
Identity comparison: Material object crossing RT-RTE-chat-actions and RT-RTE-task-work; no single parent or supplied object counterpart.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/prompt_append.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
EPI-OBJ-learning-artifact
Label: LearningArtifact
Natural-language request/result_summary with symbolic skill_names, changed_files, URLs and provenance fields; JSONL index and Markdown files in learning artifacts. A statement that work changed a skill is truth-apt; naming the file path does not establish capability improvement.
Identity comparison: Distinct from RT-OBJ-validation-diagnostics and the task result; a selected post-work artifact, not doctor evidence.
Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/automatic_learning.py, implementation. Its load-bearing passages are retained in the linked route declarations below.
Routes
EPI-RTE-memory-store
Label: Memory admission and startup delivery
Distinct chain spans RT-RTE-chat-actions and RT-RTE-task-work rather than duplicating either.
Model final text or explicit API caller proposes remembered text. Host extracts/normalizes it, rejects empty/blocked text, clips it, merges normalized-text duplicates and atomically retains it. Caller metadata uses defaults; final-text save invokes remember_memory without source refs and defaults to explicit/high. The validator checks permitted labels and lexical safety, not whether the proposition follows from conversation evidence. Confidence can rise on a duplicate without new truth evidence. Prompt selector sorts confidence then timestamp and stops at the first over-budget item; it emits ID/type/text, not source_refs or confidence. Source warrant is therefore unknown and evidential context degraded at the prompt consumer. The warning limits intended reliance to descriptive context, not instructions. Store success is operational admission, not evidence-consuming acceptance of a fact.
Content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: indeterminate. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/memory/store.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: Saved item or rejected-save error; final reply may report saved/failed counts.
- Later read-back: Durable long_term.json → later startup memory_for_prompt → model; supplied runtime establishes first-session injection and adapter recovery.
- Delegated visibility: Selected ID/type/text and warning; provenance metadata is not delivered by long_term_for_prompt.
- Selection predicate: Nonempty safe normalized text; duplicate matching by normalized text; prompt budget/confidence ordering.
- Invalidation or expiry: Forget deletes a store item; existing provider transcript copies are not revoked by this route.
- Activation or effect: Software write admission enforcing; model receives advisory descriptive context on later sessions, with reliable compliance unobserved.
- Evidence limits: Clipping can remove truth conditions; this cannot uniformly be called non-ampliative reshaping. Concrete implementation deduction: at max_chars=40, "Use cache only when the server is offline." becomes "Use cache only when the se\n[truncated]" because the first 26 characters are kept. No target execution was used.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected
if not text or _is_unsafe_memory_text(text): return None ---
src/enoch/memory/store.py
EPI-RTE-memory-withdrawal
Label: Memory deletion
Distinct withdrawal operation not declared by RT-RTE-chat-actions.
A caller supplies an ID or normalized text/tag substring. Code refuses ambiguous non-ID matches, then removes one item and persists the remaining list. This withdraws it from future store prompts; it does not falsify the proposition or sanitize raw logs. Caller chooses target; code decides match admissibility. No truth oracle, no semantic reassessment, no implemented undo in this function.
Content/update relation: no content change. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/memory/store.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: ForgetResult reports no match, ambiguity or deletion.
- Later read-back: Future prompt reads the remaining store; deleted item no longer appears through that store route.
- Delegated visibility: inapplicable — deletion does not delegate an assessment.
- Selection predicate: Exact ID or unambiguous normalized substring.
- Invalidation or expiry: Deletion persists; raw logs and previously delivered session content are outside withdrawal.
- Activation or effect: Enforcing removal from future store selection, horizon later startup prompts.
- Evidence limits: Explicit API inspected; complete exposed caller inventory for forgetting remains uninspected.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-RTE-evidence-scan
Label: Feedback and experience scan
Part of: RT-RTE-evolve-admission
Code batches previously unscanned conversation refs or task snapshots whose latest event marker changed. It imports redacted user/reply pairs or lifecycle payloads; model is asked to extract observations and desired outcomes only. Model supplies observation/confidence/explicit; parser checks exact schema, nonempty fields, confidence range, Boolean explicit and known refs. It does not check support of an observation by the cited record. Successful parse/dedup is persisted as active evidence and a completed scan; failures record failed scans and leave material eligible for retry. Empty successful output still marks inputs scanned. Acquisition source warrant is unknown: user feedback and software/model task reports are heterogeneous. Extraction cannot be certified as preservation or entailment without instance evidence.
Content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: indeterminate. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/evidence.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: EvidenceScanResult plus completed/failed scan record and new signals.
- Later read-back: evidence.jsonl → unlinked_evidence → synthesis; scan records suppress reprocessing unchanged inputs.
- Delegated visibility: Selected redacted batches, not full conversation/provider session; application isolated call uses empty session_key.
- Selection predicate: Batch threshold or force, oldest pending inputs; response limit and known refs.
- Invalidation or expiry: Changed task marker can trigger another scan; linked signals cease being unlinked inputs; failed scan is retryable.
- Activation or effect: Parser enforces retention admission; later synthesis treats admitted observations as inputs, not independently verified facts.
- Evidence limits: No observed extracted signal; active and validated refer to admission, not accepted factual truth.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-RTE-evidence-synthesis
Label: Evidence candidate synthesis
Part of: RT-RTE-evolve-admission
Model receives admitted signals, mission/theme and existing candidate summaries. It proposes change/rationale/expected benefit/risk/test plan. Code checks schema, known evidence IDs, single-source grouping, lexical protected scope and required bounded text. Score is mean input confidence times 20 rounded, plus four if any explicit flag; score is selection machinery, not evidence of benefit. Core persists/ranks drafts and links evidence to candidate, with recovery for a previously written candidate missing links. This is pre-acceptance retention/organization, not lifecycle integration of accepted knowledge. Expected benefit is a candidate assertion; no particular non-entailment or successful benefit is evidenced here, so indeterminate rather than automatic ampliative classification.
Content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: indeterminate. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/evidence.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: Candidate drafts, then saved/ranked candidate IDs or parse failure.
- Later read-back: Retained candidates → curation/proposal → approved task through supplied runtime route.
- Delegated visibility: Bounded candidate/evidence payload in isolated model call; downstream task receives approved candidate context.
- Selection predicate: Evolution mode enabled, unlinked signals, safe fields, known same-source IDs; repeated groups suppressed.
- Invalidation or expiry: Linked evidence is no longer an unlinked input; candidate status/removal controls later eligibility.
- Activation or effect: Enforcing parser admission, ranking score and future proposal supply; no execution approval from synthesis.
- Evidence limits: An authored test plan is not a performed test; linking does not independently validate cited evidence.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-RTE-candidate-curation
Label: Semantic candidate recommendation and resolution check
Part of: RT-RTE-evolve-admission
Model proposes at most one existing safe candidate and removal classifications with reasons. Code checks known IDs, safe guidance, mutually exclusive recommend/remove and evidence refs. Already-resolved/superseded require completion evidence with authoritative-body for body changes; non-body candidates may use task-completion. Completion payload marks partial and unpromoted body work authority none. Countercase to a blanket “no evidential evaluators”: these resolution predicates consume journal evidence and reject some claims. Countercase to treating them as proof: _supports_resolution checks authority membership, not semantic match between cited change and candidate; body-change detection is regex based. Model relevance judgment remains necessary. Recommendation is operational selection for a proposal, while removal is advisory until a separate command. Curator failure uses first safe pre-ranked deterministic fallback. No general proposition acceptance criterion or truth oracle follows.
Content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: indeterminate. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/curation.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: SemanticCuration with recommendation/suggestions or deterministic fallback; record_curation persists it.
- Later read-back: Curation history → displayed proposal and latest_remove_suggestion; top_candidate selection consumes recommendation.
- Delegated visibility: Redacted/clipped candidate and completion summaries, refs and authority labels, not exhaustive execution trace.
- Selection predicate: Existing IDs/safe scope; named resolution authority for two classifications; fallback if unavailable/malformed.
- Invalidation or expiry: Future rounds may replace recommendations; candidate removal/status affects next selection.
- Activation or effect: Recommendation changes proposal choice (ranking); removal suggestion advisory; parser rejection enforcing for curation result.
- Evidence limits: Authority labels originate in journal/promotion bookkeeping; observed fidelity and candidate-specific fix are not established.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-RTE-candidate-removal
Label: Candidate removal disposition
Part of: RT-RTE-evolve-admission
Caller selects candidate and optional reason/classification. Application can attach latest matching curation ID/refs; core validates supplied linkage, actor string human and actionable status before persisting removed and an event. Direct human-requested removal needs no curator evidence. This is a veto/withdrawal for work eligibility, not acceptance of the reason as true. Actor string is not fresh human authentication: supplied chat-actions route permits model-issued commands to reuse handlers. No separate truth oracle or automatic deployment rollback.
Content/update relation: no content change. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/evolution/core.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: Removed candidate or validation/status error.
- Later read-back: Removed status excludes candidate from subsequent actionable proposal pools; event retains reason/evidence lineage.
- Delegated visibility: inapplicable — removal command does not delegate a new evaluator.
- Selection predicate: Actor label human; actionable status; if linkage supplied, exact recorded suggestion/classification/refs.
- Invalidation or expiry: Persistent removed status; no automatic removal undo inspected.
- Activation or effect: Enforcing proposal eligibility withdrawal through candidate status; later proposal rounds.
- Evidence limits: Removing a candidate does not roll back software already installed through another path.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-RTE-skill-assessment
Label: Published skill inspection and chat assessment
Part of: RT-RTE-evolve-admission
Explicit learn request loads published skill by resolved revision and checks declaration, visibility, path, size, names/versions; computes text hash. Admin learn formats snapshot metadata only. Chat separately asks model whether a concrete mission-aligned missing capability should be adapted, parses applicable/not_applicable and bounded safe candidate fields. Not applicable creates no candidate; applicable is saved with repository/revision/path/hash, then must enter ordinary approval. Imported source warrant remains unknown; hashing preserves identity, not truth or transfer validity. Model applicability judgment is an advisory compatibility check for candidate admission, not a reference oracle or skill installation. Assessment output semantics are indeterminate without a result instance; acquisition is independently implemented.
Content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: acquisition/import. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/learn.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: Snapshot metadata in admin; applicability reason and candidate/next approval command in chat; invalid schema/scope rejected.
- Later read-back: Candidate provenance/fields → later evolution approval and task pipeline.
- Delegated visibility: Published metadata/instructions, mission, local skill summaries and up to 20 existing candidates in isolated evidence prompt.
- Selection predicate: Explicit named foreign non-parent published skill; applicable result and safe complete fields before candidate retention.
- Invalidation or expiry: Duplicate snapshot digest reuses candidate; removal/approval status applies downstream.
- Activation or effect: Parser enforces candidate admission; applicability withholds or permits proposal retention, not installation; later proposal rounds.
- Evidence limits: Actual foreign bytes/service truth outside boundary; mission-alignment and missing capability are requested model judgments.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected
A skill is applicable only when it offers a concrete, mission-aligned capability that Enoch does not already have. ---

EPI-RTE-lineage-assessment
Label: Direct-parent factual and applicability assessment
Distinct preceding assessment, not contained by the assessed-candidate-to-task endpoints of RT-RTE-lineage-adoption.
Model gets bounded untrusted change records and architecture context, asked for factual summary then advisory applicability. Parser requires exactly one known unique ID per change, fields and controlled applicability/confidence. Schema success writes assessed status and text; failure writes failed/unknown/error for the batch. These predicates establish response completeness/shape, not summary truth or transfer safety. Adoption in supplied runtime requires assessed status, which is operational admission for an explicit adaptation task, not acceptance of the parent mechanism as valid for Enoch.
Content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: indeterminate. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/lineage/assessment.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: Retained assessed or failed inbox fields and counts.
- Later read-back: Assessment text/status → report and explicit adoption request/context; schema version can require reassessment.
- Delegated visibility: Bounded diff/body/files/current architecture; diff_is_incomplete informs the model, but complete parent source is not delivered.
- Selection predicate: Pending candidates with missing/outdated assessment; exact supplied IDs; caller chooses later adoption.
- Invalidation or expiry: Failed/outdated assessments retry; adoption/task link suppresses repeated enqueue in supplied runtime.
- Activation or effect: Advisory applicability; schema success enforcing permission to request adaptation via assessed-status check; later adoption requests.
- Evidence limits: Upstream discovery and post-merge reconciliation uninspected; no evidence of correct factual summary.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected
Applicability is advisory; do not authorize, queue, or perform any change. ---
src/enoch/lineage/assessment.py
EPI-RTE-regression-status
Label: Task regression and fix status
Distinct status-update part spanning RT-RTE-chat-actions and RT-RTE-task-work.
Model final text proposes task failure/fix reason in structured marker. Parser checks positive task ID/reason/allowed resolution; application skips current task and unknown/noncompleted statuses. Completed task becomes regressed. Resolution to reverted requires regressed state; forward-fixed also requires a distinct completed related task. No repository change, reproduction of failure or independent verification of the fix is performed by these functions. Status/event text changes later lifecycle snapshots consumed by experience scans. Computation enforces transition validity, not epistemic truth; no answer oracle.
Content/update relation: no content change. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/tasks/queue.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: Changed queue task/status/event, or ignored signal/invalid transition.
- Later read-back: Durable history/events → task snapshots → experience scanner; status affects later interpretation of completion.
- Delegated visibility: Selected task ID/reason/resolution/fix-task ID, not original failure evidence.
- Selection predicate: Well-formed marker and task state; forward-fixed requires another completed task.
- Invalidation or expiry: Later allowed status transitions replace reliance on previous completion; original raw evidence is not erased.
- Activation or effect: Enforcing queue state and experience-input changes, horizon later scans; “reverted” label alone does not revert source.
- Evidence limits: Model proposals can receive operational status authority without an independent factual check.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-RTE-doctor-checks
Label: Doctor evidence and bounded validation license
Check-producing material part of RT-RTE-task-work; update consumer also in RT-RTE-software-update.
Target is configured repository tests/importability and operational readiness, not all user-goal propositions. Program runs selected test/import subprocesses plus readiness checks; return code zero licenses success of those commands. Aggregate all(check.passed) decides doctor pass; build prerequisite failure keeps aggregate false even though tests entry can be skipped/passed. ENOCH_TEST_COMMAND can override tests. Supplied task route consumes failure for bounded model repair and blocks ordinary new-change publication; supplied updater attempts rollback on failed fresh doctor and permits restart on pass. Thus there is implemented evidence-consuming acceptance for scoped operational uses, not general source truth, proposed explanation, transfer safety or immutable tests. Proposer model edits code; host checks veto ordinary publication; caller/reviewer separately judges landing.
Content/update relation: no content change. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/immune.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: ImmuneResult with per-check diagnostics and aggregate pass.
- Later read-back: Diagnostics/workflow state → repair; update report → operator; task/review paths retain results as supplied runtime describes.
- Delegated visibility: Repair model sees bounded diagnostic excerpts; fresh update doctor uses updated source, not a semantic reference answer.
- Selection predicate: Configured commands and readiness conditions; aggregate pass for ordinary publication/restart.
- Invalidation or expiry: Failure prompts bounded repair or attempted update rollback; alternate branches in runtime qualify the gate.
- Activation or effect: Enforcing covered publication/update continuation; diagnostics advisory to repair model; current attempt and next bounded repair/update.
- Evidence limits: No passing run supplied; test mutation and plugin/native effects prevent universal correctness/safety inference.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-RTE-learning-artifact
Label: Skill work artifact retention
Distinct post-work recording route compared with RT-RTE-task-work; no existing supplied artifact route counterpart.
Caller supplies request/result/changed files/URLs. Code parses Files: bullets, deduplicates paths/URLs, finds a skills path component, clips result to 4000 chars and writes JSONL/Markdown only if a skill name is found. No evaluator checks successful skill acquisition or behavior improvement here. The emitted inheritance note asserts successful work, but the recorder itself has no passed/status predicate: successful-work filtering, if supplied by caller, is not established by this function. Concrete implementation deduction: result "Files:\n- src/enoch/skills/work/SKILL.md\nFailed validation" yields skill name work and retains the failed result text; merely locating a skill path is not a success test. Textual clipping flags omission; summary preserves only prefix, not complete outcome evidence. Prefix extraction and path deduplication are deterministic reshaping, but the retained summary semantic preservation is indeterminate if omitted text contains qualifications.
Content/update relation: truth-apt transformation: indeterminate. Endpoints, progression, owner, evaluator/target/domain and authority are as described above; no observed result is asserted. Evidence: SRC-1 src/enoch/automatic_learning.py, implementation; model-facing instructions are doctrine/design, not model compliance.
- Immediate return: LearningArtifact or None for no detected skill name.
- Later read-back: Artifacts available for later inspection; all concrete later consumers uninspected, so improved capacity not established.
- Delegated visibility: inapplicable — function records caller data, not a delegated task.
- Selection predicate: Required request and detected skills path; no truth/success predicate.
- Invalidation or expiry: No automatic semantic expiry or withdrawal inspected in recorder.
- Activation or effect: Retention only; inheritance advice advisory to any later reader, whose invocation is uninspected.
- Evidence limits: No observed artifact or causal improvement evidence; clipped records cannot certify what omitted output said.
- implementation conclusion status: wired
- operation conclusion status: uninspected

EPI-CLM-governed-evolution
Label: Governed evolution from experience
Claimed operation: turn feedback and operational experience into tested, reviewable changes under caller adoption control, and extend durable learning into software changes. SRC-1 README.md, doctrine/design. No counterpart to the full improvement claim in supplied runtime; RT-CLM-merge-authorization is a narrower authorization policy that qualifies its control interpretation.
It demonstrates governed code evolution: Enoch can turn feedback and operational experience into tested, reviewable changes while you control what is adopted. ---
