Reflexion report verification

Verification

The reports support a bounded source-grounded account. The checkout HEAD matches the Source register, its working tree is clean, and the Git tree retains both unavailable dependency pointers. The workflow target and complete-artifact/partial-loop boundary remain supported. I read the complete supplied members, types, contract, answers, structural check and previous verification. The structural check reports none. Runtime supplies one correction answer and epistemic supplies two; memory and workflow answers are empty. No target code, test, example, provider or service was executed. All independent source inspection below is SRC-1 implementation; README and model instructions establish attributed doctrine/design, not observed operation or benefit.

Programming progression and the runtime correction

I independently traced SRC-1 programming_runs/main.py, programming_runs/run_reflexion.sh, programming_runs/reflexion.py, programming_runs/utils.py, programming_runs/generators/generator_utils.py, the Python generator's implementation/test callers and syntax predicate in programming_runs/generators/py_generate.py, and code extraction in programming_runs/generators/parse.py. These support RT-RTE-program-attempt, RT-OBJ-cur-func-impl, and the selected workflow account. The launcher requests Python, GPT-4, one pass and two iterations. Software selects tasks and owns transitions. At most one model-authored internal assertion is selected per pass; syntax eligibility does not establish its expected answer. Internal failure permits diagnosis and successor generation. Initial internal success instead triggers reference evaluation and exits the outer loop even if reference evaluation fails. A revised candidate is reference-evaluated on internal success or the last permitted iteration. Final JSONL delivery does not require correctness; restart skips rows positionally rather than restoring interrupted reflection context.

The same producer/consumer trace supports MEM-OBJ-reflections, MEM-OBJ-test-feedback, MEM-OBJ-program-results and EPI-OBJ-program-reflection. Diagnosis, test feedback, current code and archived accounting fields are not interchangeable. Only the latest diagnosis reaches a successor, while accumulated diagnoses remain in the result row. No branch validates the explanation itself or grants a human a per-candidate veto.

The previous runtime blocker is repaired. Direct comparison of SRC-1 programming_runs/generators/rs_generate.py, programming_runs/generators/generator_utils.py and programming_runs/generators/py_generate.py confirms that Rust omits the required code_block_instruction argument and Python supplies it. The decisive passages are retained in RT-RTE-program-attempt and EPI-RTE-test-filter. Runtime now confines complete generation progression, effects and theory-delivery assessments to Python and carries the independent Rust failure through RT-RTE-program-variants, the runtime account, and executor evidence limits. Restoring dependencies is no longer presented as sufficient to enable Rust generation. Callable Rust execution and auditing, and visible UCS callback construction, remain intact. The correction answer is supported, including its dependent qualifications.

Direct reads of SRC-1 programming_runs/simple.py, programming_runs/immediate_reflexion.py, programming_runs/immediate_refinement.py, programming_runs/reflexion_ucs.py and programming_runs/test_acc.py support the strategy distinctions and MEM-OBJ-state. Immediate-reflexion omits executed feedback; immediate-refinement substitutes a constant for reflection. UCS exposes state-specific hints, outcome-bit identity, costs and callbacks, not its missing scheduler. Its evaluated best.code can differ from the finally archived cur_func_impl. The CLI's unconditional UCS import and test-accuracy keyword mismatch remain correctly qualified. The grouped wired status describes supported bodies/callbacks, not every language or a demonstrated launch.

Evaluation, effects and model components

Direct reads of SRC-1 programming_runs/executors/py_executor.py, programming_runs/executors/executor_utils.py, programming_runs/executors/rs_executor.py, programming_runs/executors/factory.py and programming_runs/executors/leet_executor.py support RT-RTE-code-execution, RT-BAP-executable-code and EPI-OBJ-test-feedback. Empty Python internal tests leave initial success true. Python shares execution globals and failure-output inspection executes definitions outside the bounded wait. The thread wrapper does not terminate the worker on timeout. Rust uses temporary projects and shell-launched cargo, with message recognition rather than a general exit-code correctness check. Neither establishes secure isolation or rollback. Remote grading and formatter compatibility remain separately unresolved. Driver counters are protocol budgets conditional on calls returning, not wall-clock termination guarantees.

The five component declarations—RT-CMP-gpt4, RT-CMP-gpt35, RT-CMP-text-davinci, RT-CMP-star-chat and RT-CMP-code-llama—match direct inspection of SRC-1 programming_runs/generators/model.py, programming_runs/generators/factory.py, hotpotqa_runs/llm.py, hotpotqa_runs/agents.py, hotpotqa_runs/react.py, alfworld_runs/utils.py, webshop_runs/utils.py and webshop_runs/webshop_trial.py. Generation adapters and unpinned loading identities support the stated client behavior and fixity limits, not provider-internal parameter claims or an absence of learning through retained text.

Task plans and actual downstream consumers

Direct reads of SRC-1 alfworld_runs/main.py, alfworld_runs/alfworld_trial.py, alfworld_runs/generate_reflections.py, alfworld_runs/env_history.py and their WebShop counterparts support RT-RTE-alfworld-trial, RT-RTE-webshop-trial, MEM-OBJ-alfworld-memory, MEM-OBJ-alfworld-logs, MEM-OBJ-webshop-memory and MEM-OBJ-webshop-logs. Failure predicates, scenario extraction, automatic append, last-three selection, JSON restoration and differing resume/output directories are implemented. ALFWorld's updater additionally checks skip; WebShop's does not. ALFWorld consumes plans at action input and returns success on done, despite reading won separately. WebShop requires full terminal reward and builds action input from a separate base-plus-character-tail string. Its history and subsequent reflection calls receive plans, but the inspected action call does not. This local delivery negative is supported at the consumer, not inferred from missing inventory entries.

Direct reads of SRC-1 hotpotqa_runs/agents.py, hotpotqa_runs/react.py, hotpotqa_runs/environment.py, hotpotqa_runs/prompts.py, hotpotqa_runs/util.py and all code cells in the three notebooks support RT-RTE-hotpotqa-attempt, MEM-OBJ-hotpotqa-reflections, MEM-OBJ-last-attempt, MEM-OBJ-hotpotqa-checkpoints and RT-BAP-plan-guidance. Separate question agents undergo five retry rounds. Strategy-selected trace replacement, diagnosis accumulation and combined-mode replacement differ. Observation deletion transforms a copy and can exhaust removable lines; it does not summarize meaning. Alternate ReAct deletes other line types too. The reflection builders omit the expected key, although logs append it. set_qa does not clear reflections. Notebook code loads the dataset and saves agents after the rounds; it supplies no saved-agent reload invocation. Serialization does not establish cross-run consumption, authenticated historical lineage or cross-question learning.

Epistemic findings and reconciliation

Both supplied epistemic correction answers remain supported. EPI-OBJ-internal-tests, EPI-RTE-test-filter, their ledger entries and the bounded conclusion distinguish Python's ast.parse from Rust's always-true predicate after semicolon splitting. Python receives parseability warrant only; Rust receives no syntax warrant, and neither branch validates expected-output truth. The independent Rust generation failure remains explicit.

SRC-1 programming_runs/validate_py_results.py, programming_runs/validate_rs_results.py and programming_runs/evaluate_leet_results.py, together with the empty Rust-named evaluation file confirmed by the source inventory, support MEM-RTE-result-validation, EPI-RTE-result-audit, MEM-RTE-leet-evaluation and EPI-RTE-leet-audit. Named console validators execute solved rows without rewriting original labels. LeetCode's contradictory argv assertion/index blocks standalone delivery with assertions enabled even if dependencies return; its output path is unused and its implementation-entry handling is incompatible with ordinary string entries. The afforded scaffold status and ledger's lack of executable standalone delivery are compatible, not conflicting evidence strengths.

I checked EPI-OBJ-qa-content, EPI-OBJ-qa-reflections, EPI-OBJ-alfworld-state, EPI-OBJ-webshop-state and every ledger function against these consumers. Their coarse containers distinguish imported evidence, candidates, directives and enforcing outcomes instead of assigning common factual warrant. EPI-RTE-answer-normalize's collision deduction follows the inspected helper. Outcome acceptance remains evaluator-bounded; unchecked diagnoses and uninspected outputs do not establish entailed derivation, ampliative conjecture, accepted explanations or lifecycle integration. RT-CLM-persisting-memory and EPI-CLM-strategy-guidance match SRC-1 README.md and hotpotqa_runs/prompts.py. Requested improvement and delivered context do not demonstrate semantic dependence, benefit or exercised theory building. Runtime's independent learning, reflection, autonomy and self-improvement qualifications remain appropriately separated.

Every declared record's source anchor and evidence strength was assessed for meaning; deterministic citation and quotation checks are not substituted for that judgment. Every Part of: relation has supported containment: memory records identify input, retained-state or output parts of their runtime route, while epistemic records identify corresponding parts or genuine filtering/normalization subroutes. No evidenced-absence records are declared. The three duplicate supersessions have supported identity: ordinary programming diagnosis, standalone solved-row audit and standalone LeetCode scaffold. None overrides a finding. Return versus retained feedback, strategy containers versus trace/diagnosis parts, and outcome/result/UCS containers remain valid nonidentical overlaps. All five memory integration issues receive supported dispositions. The cross-report discussion now correctly records agreement on the Rust failure and Python-scoped wiring; the former material conflict is discharged. Its statement that no correction answers were supplied is inaccurate bookkeeping, but does not alter the source-based dispositions; I dismiss that sentence as immaterial rather than using it as evidence that corrections were absent. No unresolved material conflict remains.

Omission search and stopping decision

Questions were selected from the frozen tree, shipped alternate paths and producer/consumer dependencies: whether language callers change test warrant or generation reachability; whether plans actually reach action models; whether notebooks reload checkpoints; and whether offline consumers change correctness labels or durable results. Independent caller, action-input, notebook, alternate-agent and validator inspection gives the dispositions above. No conclusion depends solely on an analyst's claimed search.

Additional inspection of SRC-1 programming_runs/human-eval/human_eval/evaluate_functional_correctness.py, programming_runs/human-eval/human_eval/evaluation.py and the relevant execution body in programming_runs/human-eval/human_eval/execution.py confirms a distinct completion-format audit/write scaffold, but not usable frozen execution: the proposed exec is commented and its enclosing context-manager suite is empty. The retained limit below remains necessary. Historical payloads, dataset provenance, all static-example assertions and external services were not audited. These are not evidenced absences and do not defeat the supported source-only task-local account. Further optional expansion stopped because each selected consequential question has a supported disposition or explicit limit, and no identified material challenge remains undisposed. More available artifacts alone would not justify an exhaustive audit.

Limits

  • MEM-RTE-result-validation, EPI-RTE-result-audit and the memory coverage limits establish selected solution/is_solved console validators, not every shipped offline result consumer. SRC-1 programming_runs/human-eval/human_eval/evaluate_functional_correctness.py and programming_runs/human-eval/human_eval/evaluation.py contain a separate task_id/completion sample route and augmented-result write scaffold. The inspected body in SRC-1 programming_runs/human-eval/human_eval/execution.py leaves its proposed exec commented and its enclosing context-manager suite empty, so successful or usable execution is not established. Withhold repository-complete comparisons of offline evaluation, persistence, execution/recovery boundaries and result consumers. The named validators' console-only findings remain supported; the reports already leave the vendored subtree unassessed rather than asserting a complete negative.
