Work and ordinary invocation

kgai's consequential work is to record acted-on structural choices as decisions with reasons and graph mutations, then expose the current domain structure and decision history to subsequent development work. It is not the enclosing coding-agent scheduler. The foreground model decides what to ask, whether a choice qualifies, and what title, rationale and mutations to submit; Go code resolves identities, assigns authority and supersession, writes the log and updates the graph. The model-facing policy is RT-OBJ-knowledge-graph; the model's numerical implementation is RT-CMP-host-model. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, src/internal/engine/engine.go.

An ordinary plugin invocation begins with SessionStart running installation/status, detached synchronization and approved capture-rule injection. A user supplies a coding task. The model is instructed to call kg context and/or kg search before a nontrivial change, inspect relevant history/conflicts, and respect a governing decision or supersede it. The CLI returns selected JSON, not a complete semantic account: search scores lexical fields, defaults to 20 hits, and context defaults to 15 elements. The agent supplies domain vocabulary and can reformulate requests. The enclosing host, not kgai, owns the task window, tools and next model step. SRC-1: hooks/hooks.json, hooks/session-start.sh, skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, commands/kg-ask.md, src/internal/engine/reads.go.

After acting on a structural choice, the foreground model supplies an ingest payload. The launcher executes the installed engine. cmdIngest decodes with unknown-field rejection, resolves the configured store and opens or initializes it. Engine.Ingest locks that store, opens a writable graph, resolves references, builds each decision event, computes the elements over which it has authority, and supersedes their heads. It appends the event to the local install shard before applying it to the graph. Projection transactions are chunked at 500 decisions. The JSON result reports decisions, resolved elements, warnings and success; the skill requests a one-line user acknowledgement. Later invocations read the resulting graph/history. This end-to-end route and its decision/admission roles are RT-RTE-foreground-capture. SRC-1: bin/kg, src/main.go, src/internal/engine/engine.go, src/internal/store/store.go.

Alternate and forcing routes

Four small source forcing cases qualify conclusions that otherwise sound stronger than their enforcement:

  1. Capture permission differs by entry prompt. Automatic skill and review capture say not to ask permission; the explicit /kg-decision prompt says to show a proposal and ingest on confirmation. Neither command has an engine-side per-decision consent check. The Stop nudge only continues an eligible turn; it does not validate that a structural choice was captured. Marker classification also treats a requested command containing kg ingest as recording, without checking its exit result or excluding dry runs. Thus a capture nudge is not a durable-write guarantee. RT-RTE-foreground-capture, SRC-1: commands/kg-decision.md, commands/kg-review.md, hooks/auto-capture-stop.sh, src/internal/turn/turn.go.
  2. Optional confirm capture becomes automatic without a supported UI band. The mod forks the model after eligible foreground turns, parses its answer, dry-runs and then ingests it. Only terminal/desktop surfaces receive a pending proposal with Record/Skip controls. Headless confirm follows auto admission. The classic nudge is suppressed in active mod capture, and failures receive diagnostics rather than a renewed foreground capture requirement. RT-RTE-fork-capture, SRC-1: mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx.
  3. Read-only query is a local command guarantee, not host isolation. Kuzu read-only opening covers graph mutations; a separate query keyword filter rejects file/database/extension statements. Direct Graph.Raw on a writable graph, ingest, shell execution and installer subprocesses are different paths. There is no evidence here of a host-level permission envelope restricting those capabilities. RT-RTE-query-read, SRC-1: src/internal/engine/reads.go, src/internal/graph/graph.go, bin/kg.
  4. Integrity gates differ by consumer. Engine rebuild/incremental replay verifies event hashes and decision content IDs; object synchronization validates incoming segments and chains. The editor loader instead reads the log and calls replay.Build, whose Apply deduplicates hashes but does not perform the engine's verification gate. An assertion that every consumer rejects tampered retained content would therefore exceed the inspected enforcement. RT-RTE-team-sync, RT-RTE-editor-read, SRC-1: src/internal/engine/engine.go, src/internal/remote/objectsync.go, src/internal/view/model.go, src/internal/replay/projection.go.

Configuration admission and product admission are separate from decision admission. Approved .kgairc settings can redirect the store and supply model-visible capture conventions. Approval identity is a fingerprint of allowed nonempty settings, not file bytes or path; identical configurations inherit approval. Unapproved project settings are ignored while already resolved local/global state remains usable. The CLI cannot establish that a human, rather than an agent with shell access, authorized kg trust; that distinction is a model instruction. RT-RTE-config-admission, SRC-1: src/internal/store/settings.go, src/internal/store/trust.go, src/main.go, hooks/inject-prompt.sh.

The installed engine can change at session start. The installer uses a source/version fingerprint, prefers a mutable latest-release URL, optionally verifies checksum assets, replaces executable/library files, checks whether the engine runs, and falls back to compilation. This is executable capability admission, not learning from decision traces, and does not make the deployed binary identical to the analysis's pinned source. RT-RTE-engine-install, SRC-1: scripts/install.sh.

Guarantees, grants and evidence strength

Load-bearing guarantee Owner and enforcement Strength and covered paths Alternate paths/external contract Conclusions
Relevant structural decisions should be recalled and captured Foreground model; skill, command prompts and end-turn nudge policy for content classification; protocol for eligible Stop continuation Explicit command confirmation differs; disabled/missing hooks, unrecognized edits, marker heuristics and optional fork change coverage. Requires host event delivery and model compliance. implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected
Unknown ingest fields do not silently disappear CLI decoder with DisallowUnknownFields invariant at CLI payload decoding Library Engine.Ingest receives an already typed value; imported/synced events do not traverse this decoder. This is shape validation, not truth, structural relevance or element-attachment validation. implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected
Concurrent managed writes are serialized Engine Ingest/Sync/Rebuild and store advisory flock protocol for cooperating processes using the same store lock Store.Append explicitly requires its caller to hold the lock; ApplyNew does not acquire it itself. Direct files/library calls and external writers are outside the guarantee. Requires filesystem/flock semantics. implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected
Projection can be reconstructed from retained events Engine replay and kg rebuild protocol; log is authoritative over derived graph Append precedes projection; a batch error can leave a log prefix without a committed projection. No filesystem fsync/power-loss guarantee follows from Append's Write/Close sequence. Requires readable intact log and Kuzu execution. Editor replay has different integrity admission. implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected
Committed project settings are inactive until approved Settings loaders and allowed-setting fingerprint lookup invariant on inspected project-layer read paths KGAI_STORE overrides layered resolution; global/session settings are different trust channels. kg trust has no human-authentication check. Equivalent settings share approval. implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected
kg query cannot mutate graph or issue recognized external-I/O statements Engine.Query filter plus Kuzu ReadOnly configuration protocol at this entry point Writable graph APIs, ingestion, installer and host shell are not covered. Requires native Kuzu honoring ReadOnly and filter coverage for external-effect syntax. implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected
Sync preserves local work during ordinary remote unavailability Object transport returns detail; autosync throttles and records outcomes best effort A success-shaped result can contain failure detail. Git/cloud/S3 services and their deployed access controls are external; no availability or timely convergence is demonstrated. implementation conclusion status: wired; operation conclusion status: uninspected

Evidence: SRC-1 skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, hooks/auto-capture-stop.sh, src/main.go, src/internal/engine/engine.go, src/internal/store/store.go, src/internal/store/settings.go, src/internal/store/trust.go, src/internal/engine/reads.go, src/internal/graph/graph.go, src/internal/remote/objectsync.go.

The capability surface includes host shell/file tools, an installed native graph engine, sync clients invoking remote services/Git, and optional host APIs for model forks, process execution and UI. The current grant set is not supplied: source wiring does not tell us which tools, credentials, transports or plugins a deployed user enabled. The deployed isolation envelope is likewise unobserved; the mod prompt's no-tools side question is a declared host contract, not a demonstrated sandbox. No target, evaluator, provider or example was executed. Neither reliable capture, activation of recalled reasons, improvement, performance nor operational compatibility is established by these implementation traces. SRC-1: hooks/hooks.json, mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx, src/internal/remote/remote.go; execution-evidence limit: boundary.

Added SRC-1 implementation coverage beyond the boundary's initial ranges: complete optional-mod registration and parsing; ingest decoder and event construction; rebuild, incremental replay and sync orchestration; store append/root resolution; project-layer loading and trust fingerprint computation; query/search/context selection ranges; editor in-memory replay entry; kgread request loop; installer checksum, source fingerprint and replacement branches; turn classifier. Doctrine/design coverage added: complete commands/kg-decision.md and commands/kg-ask.md. All findings concern the frozen commit. Uninspected installer branches, full editor protocol/rendering, full cloud/Git/S3 transport details and native/provider internals remain limits, not missing or absent mechanisms. Memory meaning/revision and evaluator results are left to the specialist accounts.

Components

RT-CMP-host-model

Label: Host model and optional model fork

Source-native identity: the model interpreting the knowledge-graph skill in Claude Code, Codex or Gemini; the optional mod calls $.model.fork. Representational form: distributed-parametric model, receiving natural-language context and producing text/JSON. Storage substrate: external provider/host-managed parameters, not repository state. Exact version is not pinned by the inspected skill or fork call. Whether parameters change during operation is uninspected; no parameter-update operation is exposed in these paths. A host-selected mutable endpoint may resolve to another model; kgai supplies no model identity or stability constraint here. Provider internals and precise fork context selection are uninspected. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx.

const reply = await $.model.fork({ prompt: CAPTURE_PROMPT }) --- mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx

Operative objects

RT-OBJ-knowledge-graph

Label: Knowledge-graph skill

Source-native identity: shipped knowledge-graph skill. Representational form: natural-language selection/admission/recall policy with illustrative symbolic CLI payloads; the illustrations acquire engine effects only when submitted as commands. Storage substrate: tracked Markdown distributed by the plugin/host. It asks the foreground model to recall before changes, decide structural relevance, record without routine confirmation, reformulate lexical searches and handle trust with explicit user consent. Its consumer is a model, not a parser that enforces semantic relevance. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md.

Matching is lexical (word overlap), not semantic — YOU are the semantic layer. --- skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md

The skill states the engine limitation explicitly:

The engine matches your words against element names and decision texts deterministically; it cannot bridge pure synonyms. --- skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md

RT-OBJ-capture-prompt

Label: CAPTURE_PROMPT

Source-native identity: CAPTURE_PROMPT TypeScript string. Representational form: natural-language selection criteria and output instructions with a symbolic JSON schema illustration. Storage substrate: shipped mod source/runtime string. It asks the side model to select NONE or an ingest payload based on the completed edited turn, reuse session element names and omit author. Returned text crosses into symbolic admission only through parsing, dry-run and real ingest. SRC-1: mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx.

kgai end-of-turn check. This is a side question: your answer is not shown to the user, and you cannot use tools. --- mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx

RT-OBJ-trusted

Label: trusted.json approval registry

Source-native identity: trusted.json, mapping allowed-setting fingerprints to approval/dismissal timestamps and provenance paths. Representational form: symbolic JSON consumed by deterministic settings loaders. Storage substrate: per-machine/per-user KgaiHome file; not synchronized decision data. Paths explain where approval came from, not its identity. Settings fingerprinting excludes forbidden project keys and hashes canonical nonempty allowed values. SRC-1: src/internal/store/trust.go.

// What is approved is the SETTINGS the file asks for, not its bytes: reformatting it, // reordering keys or adding a comment changes nothing about what it does, and asking // again for those only teaches people to accept without reading. --- src/internal/store/trust.go

Routes

RT-RTE-foreground-capture

Label: Foreground recall and decision admission

User coding task or explicit command → host model reads skill and selected CLI recall → external coding actions → model-authored ingest → typed engine event → local log and projection → result/user acknowledgement. Principal is the host session; install/actor identifies event producer, decision author is caller-supplied or defaults to configured actor, element/decision identities are computed by the engine. The model owns task progression and semantic selection; the CLI owns validation, locking and projection. Context is current task plus tool returns and optionally approved capture conventions; host scheduler/window management remain external. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, commands/kg-ask.md, commands/kg-decision.md, commands/kg-review.md, src/main.go, src/internal/engine/engine.go, src/internal/store/store.go.

  • implementation conclusion status: wired
  • operation conclusion status: uninspected
  • Immediate return: Recall JSON reaches the model; ingest returns resolved elements, decision IDs and warnings or an error; skill asks for a one-line user report.
  • Later read-back: Subsequent context/search/history/conflicts calls consume recorded state and rationale; graph authority selects heads while historical decisions remain reachable.
  • Delegated visibility: Foreground model and human see host tool output; other installations can receive events through sync. Visibility into external host subagents is uninspected — no such forwarding is specified here.
  • Selection predicate: Model applies structural DO/DON'T criteria, chooses words/paths for lexical recall, then proposes mutations. Stop trigger uses classified edit/ingest marks, not semantic detection of structural decisions.
  • Invalidation or expiry: Authority-bearing new decisions supersede heads; retired links cease to be live but remain historical. Turn markers are consumed before the repeated-Stop guard; hooks may be disabled and missing markers fall back to Claude transcript parsing.
  • Activation or effect: Accepted events mutate graph state and become eligible for later recall; changed coding behavior from supplied rationale is unobserved.
  • Evidence limits: Code and instructions establish wiring, not model compliance, actual capture or relevance. Engine warns rather than rejects a decision with no attached element; search can still surface it.

Admission roles: model proposes and, under automatic skill/review policy, decides semantic inclusion. Explicit /kg-decision instead requests human confirmation. Engine vetoes malformed schema, missing title, invalid mutation ops/references and identity contradictions, but not whether a claimed reason is true or structurally important. A shell caller can invoke ingest directly with no model or confirmation. Operating mode: open task-driven capture, not a bounded experiment/curriculum. Answer oracle: inapplicable — there is no expected-answer/reference-outcome input in this route. Improvement trigger: a new acted-on structural choice or conflict-resolution decision, not a measured improvement signal. Rollback/recovery: superseding decisions revise live state without erasing history; append/projection failure directs rebuild. A batch is not an all-or-nothing log transaction.

Propose ONE kg ingest (show it), and on confirmation run it: --- commands/kg-decision.md

automatically, without asking permission. The decision auto-supersedes the prior head decisions of the elements it changes. --- commands/kg-review.md

if len(d.Shapes) == 0 { // Recorded and searchable, but element-centric recall (context/history) can // never surface it — worth a nudge, not an error. --- src/internal/engine/engine.go

if strings.Contains(cmd, "kg ingest") || strings.Contains(cmd, "kg-decision") { marks = appendOnce(marks, "ingest") } --- src/internal/turn/turn.go

if err := e.S.Append(&ev); err != nil { return res, err } if err := g.ApplyEvent(ev); err != nil { return res, fmt.Errorf("event appended but projection failed (run kg rebuild): %w", err) } --- src/internal/engine/engine.go

Theory account: retained rationale can state why a structural choice should hold and what was rejected; a decision title alone need not formulate an explanation. Guidance comes from the skill, project conventions and recalled reasons. The skill requests respect or supersession, and conflicts can be resolved by a new authority decision re-expressing the intended state with a reason. Titles, rationale, mutations and supersession persist for later readers; engine schema does not require formulated criticism or test evidence. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, commands/kg-decision.md, src/internal/engine/engine.go.

Theory-builder conditions 1–4: - Condition 1 conclusion status: afforded

A whole rationale can localize an explanation; the engine accepts an empty rationale too.

  • Condition 2 conclusion status: claimed

The skill tells the model to respect or supersede a constraining prior decision; source does not demonstrate decisions depending on its content.

  • Condition 3 conclusion status: afforded

Supersession plus free-text rationale can retain a challenged claim and blame, but conflict detection is competing heads, not content-directed criticism; such criticism is not required or observed.

  • Condition 4 conclusion status: afforded

Revised rationale and heads are available next round; actual criticism-shaped iteration is unobserved.

Addressability: decision-level titles/rationales and element/link/property mutations are inspectable; assumptions within prose have no separately enforced identifiers. Persistence: cross-session/task recall and synchronization are wired, attained use is unobserved.

  • learning conclusion status: uninspected

No supplied comparison establishes improved future capacity.

  • reflection conclusion status: afforded

A consuming project's structural self-description can be updated by choices and can inform later work through recalled reasons; both exercised causal directions remain unobserved. This does not establish kgai criticizing its own capture method.

  • reflective theory builder conclusion status: uninspected

No retained operational criticism of kgai's method is established.

  • autonomous theory builder conclusion status: uninspected

Automatic capture does not establish every internal criticism/theory operation. No exercised self-improvement is attributed.

RT-RTE-fork-capture

Label: Optional off-transcript capture

Host turn.complete → eligible edited foreground turn → $.model.fork with CAPTURE_PROMPT → text parser → dry-run → pending confirmation or automatic real ingest → UI/debug acknowledgement. Mod hook code owns progression; model owns semantic classification; engine owns typed admission. Eligibility excludes subagents (agentId must be undefined), non-answer completions, already-recorded turns and a repeated turn ID. Successful Edit/Write/MultiEdit/NotebookEdit tool calls increment an in-memory counter; Bash ingest and the decision skill mark recording. This mod classifier is narrower than the classic cross-host shell-edit classifier. SRC-1: mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx.

  • implementation conclusion status: wired
  • operation conclusion status: uninspected
  • Immediate return: NONE produces debug text; invalid/unanswered fork or failed ingest produces a debug diagnosis and at most one failure toast; accepted payload gets status/UI log, not a fork transcript answer.
  • Later read-back: Real ingest creates the same graph/log state consumed by subsequent CLI/editor invocations; a pending proposal alone does not.
  • Delegated visibility: Side model receives host-forked context plus prompt; exact copied session material is uninspected — the external API owns it. Foreground transcript does not receive the fork's raw answer. Human gets Record/Skip on supported confirm surfaces, otherwise only recorded status.
  • Selection predicate: Eligible edit turn, capture option not off and hooks not disabled; model decides structural relevance and emits NONE or JSON. Parser accepts a leading NONE and tolerates fences; payload needs decision titles before engine validation.
  • Invalidation or expiry: New prompt clears pending confirmation; turn start resets edit/recorded counters; repeated turn ID prevents another fork. Status clears after 6000 ms.
  • Activation or effect: Auto or confirmed payload is dry-run then ingested. Confirm without terminal/desktop band is auto. Compact rendering hides successful kgai tool result rows in UI, not a demonstrated reduction of model input.
  • Evidence limits: Host fork isolation/no-tools behavior is a supplied API/prompt contract, not locally observed. Delayed UI-mode checks can fail after the foreground turn has ended; no guarantee of capture completion or benefit follows.

Admission: side model proposes; auto mode admits after software checks without per-content human approval. Confirm mode allows human Record/Skip only with a band; headless falls through to auto. Engine can reject; parsing and dry-run cannot establish semantic truth. Operating modes: auto, confirm, off, with headless fallback. Answer oracle: inapplicable — no reference answer is supplied. Trigger/guidance: edited task trace plus the structural criteria in RT-OBJ-capture-prompt. Recovery: failure diagnostic; pending Skip discards proposal; accepted content can later be superseded. Fork does not expose a separate theory criticism stage; retained decision content uses the same expressive capacity as RT-RTE-foreground-capture.

const surfaces = await $.session.surfaces() const hasBand = surfaces.some(s => s === 'terminal' || s === 'desktop') if (capture === 'confirm' && hasBand) { --- mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx

const isDue = e.agentId === undefined && e.reason === 'answer' && edited > 0 && !recorded && forkedTurnId !== e.turnId --- mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx

Working-context control: the side question is a host fork, analogous to a separate frame from which only a parsed return escapes to persistence/UI. kgai neither specifies the copied context nor compacts the foreground window. The side answer's omission from transcript is distinct from selective extraction into durable decisions; no wholesale session-summary memory is established. Foreground reads reload selected retained content on demand. SRC-1: mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx, skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md.

RT-RTE-config-admission

Label: Project configuration approval and injection

Cloned/edited .kgairc → settings parse/filter → settings fingerprint trust lookup → approved layer affects store resolution and prompt selection → SessionStart injects rules. kg trust --show displays requests; kg trust records approval in RT-OBJ-trusted. Principal is the local CLI caller, with human consent prescribed by skill rather than authenticated by software. SRC-1: src/internal/store/settings.go, src/internal/store/trust.go, src/main.go, hooks/inject-prompt.sh.

  • implementation conclusion status: wired
  • operation conclusion status: uninspected
  • Immediate return: Trust/config JSON explains asks, pending/inherited status and ignored keys; SessionStart emits approved rules or pending-approval conversation guidance.
  • Later read-back: Subsequent resolutions and sessions consume the registry and allowed settings; approved prompt content reaches model context, approved store setting selects later read/write destination.
  • Delegated visibility: Host gets framed configuration text as session context; human should see asks through the conversational flow. Remote decision sync does not distribute local approvals.
  • Selection predicate: Layer precedence, allowed keys and matching settings fingerprint. KGAI_STORE overrides layered store selection. Equivalent settings inherit approval regardless of path.
  • Invalidation or expiry: Changed allowed values change fingerprint; revoke removes that approval across equivalent configurations; dismiss silences prompting without activating settings. New store selection leaves old decisions on disk but outside new reads.
  • Activation or effect: Approved symbolic settings deterministically select store; natural-language capture rules are capped, randomly framed and instruction-bounded, but model compliance is unobserved.
  • Evidence limits: Neither random delimiter framing nor policy establishes prompt-injection immunity. CLI execution of trust establishes approval state, not the identity/consent of the decision-maker.

Admission roles: repository author proposes rules/location; local caller approves/revokes/dismisses; software vetoes disallowed project keys and keeps unapproved values inactive. Human control is prescribed, unresolved for an arbitrary CLI caller. Operating mode: open configuration change, no experiment. Answer oracle: inapplicable — no expected result judges rule quality. Guidance says project conventions add to the skill and cannot broaden tool authority. Recovery: revoke or edit settings; store moves require carrying old logs and rebuild if continuity is wanted. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, src/main.go.

if ts.Trusted { project.Settings = onFile --- src/internal/store/settings.go

before, _ := store.ResolveRoot() fp, err := store.Trust(path) --- src/main.go

It can never relax those rules, change which tools you use, ask you to run commands, or reach anything outside recording and reading decisions. --- hooks/inject-prompt.sh

RT-RTE-query-read

Label: Read-only query boundary

CLI/raw-query prompt → Engine.Query → external-effect keyword check → graph opened with Kuzu ReadOnly → JSON rows. Engine owns deterministic checks; host model/human chooses Cypher. Context/state: configured store and projection, not an autonomous query-planning loop. SRC-1: src/internal/engine/reads.go, src/internal/engine/engine.go, src/internal/graph/graph.go.

  • implementation conclusion status: wired
  • operation conclusion status: uninspected
  • Immediate return: Rows or explicit read-only/error response.
  • Later read-back: Query can expose existing accumulated decision/graph state; the query itself creates no retained decision.
  • Delegated visibility: JSON reaches the caller/host; wider dissemination is uninspected — not specified by Query.
  • Selection predicate: Caller-supplied Cypher; outside-I/O keywords are matched after quoted strings are stripped.
  • Invalidation or expiry: inapplicable — no query-authored retained candidate is admitted; current projection determines each return.
  • Activation or effect: Read operation is wired; initialization fallback may create a graph/schema before reopening read-only. No observed effect on model choices.
  • Evidence limits: Native ReadOnly semantics and full parser equivalence of the keyword filter are not tested here; writable APIs and shell are outside coverage.

cfg := kuzu.DefaultSystemConfig() cfg.ReadOnly = readonly --- src/internal/graph/graph.go

if m := forbiddenCypher.FindStringSubmatch(cypherStrings.ReplaceAllString(cypher, "''")); m != nil { return nil, fmt.Errorf("kg query is read-only: %s statements are not allowed (file/database I/O)", strings.ToUpper(m[2])) } --- src/internal/engine/reads.go

RT-RTE-team-sync

Label: Log synchronization and replay admission

Session lifecycle hook/manual kg sync → configured transport → remote exchange of log data → local append/reconciliation → incremental apply or full canonical replay → conflicts and status. Engine/store lock owns coordination; object transport uses install shard identities and segment planning. Go code, not a model, decides integrity admission. SRC-1: hooks/auto-sync.sh, src/internal/engine/engine.go, src/internal/remote/objectsync.go.

  • implementation conclusion status: wired
  • operation conclusion status: uninspected
  • Immediate return: Manual sync returns result/applied/conflicts; detached hook suppresses output. Auto attempts save last-autosync.json including errors or soft-failure detail.
  • Later read-back: Pulled events change subsequent graph recall and editor log replay; status at later session can expose persistent synchronization failure.
  • Delegated visibility: Configured remote and other installations see exchanged decision events; service implementation/access controls are external. Auto state is local diagnostic material.
  • Selection predicate: Effective remote; auto skip for absent store/remote, fresh cooldown or held lock; segment counts and installation IDs choose missing tails; verification gates decide admissibility.
  • Invalidation or expiry: Retired-install reconciliation can rewrite shard history and request rebuild. Interleaved/large pulls cause full replay; conflicts remain until an authority-bearing decision supersedes heads.
  • Activation or effect: Accepted events are projected; competing authority heads become conflict groups. This is synchronization/integrity admission, not judgment that a rationale is correct.
  • Evidence limits: Object transport inspection supports its checks, not every Git/cloud/S3 service guarantee. No successful exchange, deployment isolation or eventual convergence was observed.

Admission roles: remote writers supply events; object client verifies segments/chains and own-shard prefix, engine verifies event/decision IDs. Human is not asked to approve each pulled reason. Operating mode: deterministic configured exchange. Answer oracle: inapplicable — content hashes are integrity references, not expected engineering answers. Recovery: rotate a forked installation identity, reconcile retired shards, replay; preserve errors/detail when remote unavailable. Projected head conflicts ask for a new reasoned decision rather than algorithmic semantic arbitration. SRC-1: src/internal/remote/objectsync.go, src/internal/engine/engine.go, skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md.

RT-RTE-engine-install

Label: Installed engine capability replacement

SessionStart or missing launcher target → install script → source fingerprint comparison → prebuilt release download/check or local Go build/native-library fetch → installed executable/library replacement → runtime-readiness check and status. Installer owns progression; publisher/source checkout and user environment supply the candidate. SRC-1: hooks/session-start.sh, bin/kg, scripts/install.sh.

  • implementation conclusion status: wired
  • operation conclusion status: uninspected
  • Immediate return: Status enters session context; launcher execs installed engine or exits with installation failure.
  • Later read-back: Future CLI/hook invocations execute installed files; .srcver controls later installer decisions, not semantic decision recall.
  • Delegated visibility: Host sees status; download/build subprocesses see environment/network/filesystem according to host permissions, which are uninspected — no deployed grant set supplied.
  • Selection predicate: Executability and source/version fingerprint; default latest release URL, OS/architecture assets; configured empty release base forces source build.
  • Invalidation or expiry: Changed fingerprint triggers replacement; existing matched but unusable engine reports repair instead of repeatedly reinstalling the same bytes.
  • Activation or effect: Published executable and native library become the subsequent tool implementation; readiness calls version. Source inspection does not establish actual installed bytes or successful operation.
  • Evidence limits: Latest endpoint is mutable; checksum skip is allowed if asset/tool absent. Full installer/platform/PATH branches were not audited; no install/build/network call was executed.

Admission roles: publisher/developer proposes executable changes; script admits after download and available checksum/readiness checks, without per-file user confirmation. Human can change environment/source/plugin or repair files; this is not a trace-fed improvement loop. Operating mode: installation/update, not curriculum or candidate trial. Answer oracle: runtime version/readiness exit is a compatibility check, not a reference outcome for product quality. Guidance: source fingerprint and platform rules. Rejection/recovery: checksum mismatch rejects download, failed download/readiness falls back to build; source-build failure emits status. No atomic binary-plus-library rollback is established: files are renamed before readiness is checked. SRC-1: scripts/install.sh.

RT-RTE-editor-read

Label: Editor retained-log reader

Editor/CLI read request → kgread process → store resolution and ReadAll → in-memory replay projection → filtered answer; timer detects changed log fingerprint → model reload and notification. Reader is a shipped consumer, not the foreground model or Kuzu engine. Source-native identities are protocol request IDs, decision/element IDs and resolved store; server mutexes protect model swap and serialized wire writes. SRC-1: src/cmd/kgread/main.go, src/cmd/kgread/server.go, src/internal/view/model.go, src/internal/replay/projection.go, editors/vscode/src/reader.ts.

  • implementation conclusion status: wired
  • operation conclusion status: uninspected
  • Immediate return: One JSON response/result or error per request, plus change notifications.
  • Later read-back: Previously ingested/synced log events are replayed for subsequent editor requests and refresh/watch reloads.
  • Delegated visibility: Editor/human receives structural/history views; no model delivery is established by this route.
  • Selection predicate: Protocol method/filter and canonical Lamport/hash replay; log filename/size/mtime fingerprint chooses reload.
  • Invalidation or expiry: Changed log triggers reload at configured watch interval; explicit refresh/open can replace reader model. Store resolution/open and filesystem read errors populate model error; malformed log JSON lines are skipped by ReadAll, not rejected as a whole store.
  • Activation or effect: Reader builds display state without opening Kuzu, syncing or requiring store write lock; human action prompted by views is unobserved.
  • Evidence limits: Loader/replay inspected here does not apply engine event-hash/decision-ID verification; ReadAll parses JSON without that verification. UI rendering, end-to-end extension protocol and concurrent-file snapshot behavior remain unobserved. SRC-1: src/internal/store/store.go.

m.Proj = replay.Build(evs) m.Stats = m.Proj.Stats() --- src/internal/view/model.go

p := New() for _, ev := range sorted { p.Apply(ev) } return p --- src/internal/replay/projection.go

Claims

RT-CLM-structural-capture

Label: Automatic structural capture policy

Claimed operation: capture is part of finishing structural development work and should occur without waiting to be asked; recall should precede nontrivial changes. Source is the model-facing skill, not an observed run. Confirmation differences and heuristic Stop coverage are retained in RT-RTE-foreground-capture. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md.

The skill then records it for you (no confirmation needed) — capturing the decision is part of completing the task, not optional bookkeeping, so do not end your turn with an uncaptured structural decision. --- skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md

Behavioral-authority paths

RT-BAP-capture-policy

Label: Capture policy to foreground model

Consumer: host foreground model. Channel: loaded skill/command and SessionStart/Stop context. Force: natural-language policy plus eligible host continuation; not engine semantic enforcement. Horizon: current turn/session; shipped static policy is not learned memory. Approved convention text can persist across sessions and add to selection criteria. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, hooks/inject-prompt.sh, hooks/auto-capture-stop.sh.

RT-BAP-decision-recall

Label: Recalled reasons to later coding

Consumer: later foreground model (or editor human). Channel: selected CLI JSON/history or editor views. Force: informational reasons plus skill's instruction to respect or supersede constraints; graph-head status is symbolic storage authority, not autonomous control of source-code changes. Horizon: subsequent tasks/sessions, potentially other installations through sync. Presence/delivery is wired; behavior dependence and benefit remain unobserved. SRC-1: skills/knowledge-graph/SKILL.md, commands/kg-ask.md, src/internal/engine/reads.go, src/internal/view/model.go.

RT-BAP-installed-engine

Label: Installed executable to later tool behavior

Consumer: launcher/hooks/mod subprocess calls. Channel: installed binary and native library files. Force: executable capability implementation under host permissions. Horizon: future invocations until replacement/removal. Admission is RT-RTE-engine-install, not an evidence-responsive model-parameter revision. SRC-1: bin/kg, hooks/turn-state.sh, mods/kgai-mod/hooks/register.tsx, scripts/install.sh.
