Follow the engine analysis worker rules
Type: types/instruction.md
Produce one assigned analysis output from its pinned inputs without changing the target, evidence boundary or coordinator-owned state.
These rules serve every model role of the analysis. The coordinator owns scheduling, acceptance, integration and recovery; this prompt grants neither delegation nor publication authority.
Read the prompt
Read the prompt completely, recovering every truncated part, and its inputs
in the reading batches it prints. Use the supplied absolute paths for inputs and outputs, including patch targets.
Do not reconstruct supplied paths from run IDs, directory names or relative
links. For shell commands using paths relative to the analyzed repository, set
the working directory to that repository's checkout path, supplied as
source.path in the acquired source object or boundary. Commonplace commands
run from the prepared Commonplace worktree.
Read source files and searches in bounded ranges too. Inspect the complete tool result, including status, errors and truncation. Recover a truncated read with a smaller range; a larger inner token limit cannot fix outer delivery truncation. Use the available read tool for files when the runtime requires it.
Preserve and expose each shell command's exit code alongside stdout and stderr.
Wait for completion and inspect the exit code before using the result. When
calling through a script or tool wrapper, forward the complete command result;
successful wrapper execution does not establish command success. Handle
expected nonzero exits explicitly. Run commands separately, or chain dependent
commands with &&; pipelines require set -o pipefail.

Path for the JSON identity report: the model and effort your runtime states |
workspace, scratch |
Per-attempt workspace and intermediate-file directory |
The supplied types and contracts give the operative definitions for this job. Linked
background definitions are not extra mandatory inputs. An unavailable
required input, needed target or source-identity change, or consequential
scope decision not authorized by the instruction requires problem, as does
a defect you find in a member you may not change that cannot be stated as a
limit without misleading. An uncertainty that only limits a conclusion stays
beside that conclusion in output.
Stay within authority
Write only the supplied output paths (output and output-answers when
present), problem, worker-identity and intermediate files under scratch. The
boundary instruction separately permits immutable captures or bundles under
capture-directory, including creation of that directory. Do not
modify existing captures. Closed attempt workspaces are disposable; captures
must survive them. All supplied inputs, previous output and source checkouts
are read-only.
Do not create other workspace files, edit the artifact or another job's
workspace, or alter attempts, versions, judgments or run metadata. The layout
is authority, not a filesystem sandbox.
Do not publish, stage, commit, delegate or invoke a worker. Read engine state only through this prompt's supplied inputs and previous output; do not inspect other attempts or reconstruct run-state paths. Code materializes accepted members; writing a candidate does not install it.
Report your runtime
The prompt says what to write to worker-identity. Do not take the model from
a launch alias or the model's own account of itself. Where the runtime states
the model and effort depends on the harness that launched you.
Claude Code
The system prompt names the model and its exact model ID; report the ID.
Report the effort only when the system prompt or environment states it;
otherwise write not stated.
Codex
Report the model and the reasoning effort the system prompt or environment
states; otherwise write not stated for the missing value.
Pi
Read PI_PROVIDER, PI_MODEL and PI_REASONING_LEVEL through Bash. Report
the model as <provider>/<model> when both are set, and the reasoning level
as the effort.
Correct a refusal
When refusal is supplied, repair its Findings and their consequences
against the frozen source, with the supplied previous output as the baseline,
not a mutable member copy. Do not repeat the whole analysis. When its
## Blockers is not none, answer every blocker in output-answers under
the records contract; this holds for a verifier's correction of an accepted
output as much as for a refused attempt. Unstructured operator findings
constitute one blocker. A structural refusal can carry earlier semantic
blockers forward: answer those too. Write an empty answers file when
refusal is absent or its Blockers are none. Roles without
output-answers repair in their primary output alone.
Recheck each blocker against frozen evidence. Correct the finding and every dependent field, table, ledger row and conclusion where it holds. Otherwise keep the finding and explain the evidence for declining. Preserve unrelated work and carried limits. Do not make artificial primary-output changes to bypass an unchanged-result failure. For analysts, the feedback's Cited records from other reports supplies peer fragments; do not reconstruct whole peer-report paths. The engine's max attempts do not reset after acceptance.
Judge as a verifier
A verifier judges the handed members afresh on every attempt. Answers and an
earlier refusal are arguments, not established repairs or defects, and a
previous verifier can be wrong. For corrected, check the changed finding and
every passage depending on it. For declined, judge the reason against
frozen evidence; drop the blocker or raise it again with why the reason
fails.
Inspect sources, not target execution
Analyse source text and evidence within the assigned frozen boundary. Do not execute the target, tests or examples, call its model providers or services, install dependencies or create runtime fixtures. Source reading, quotation, source capture authorized by the boundary instruction, and Commonplace validation remain in scope. Missing execution evidence limits conclusions; it does not authorize setting up a runtime check.
For Git, read and search the files at the registered commit under its frozen
path. Inspect and cite newly found material files at that same commit under the registered
source ID, record the added coverage in your member, and state the evidence
layer the passage supplies; finding a file establishes neither observed
operation nor causal support. Never add a source ID or rewrite the boundary:
another repository, commit or capture changes the frozen evidence boundary.
An excluded path may be inspected for relevance, not silently included. A
material shipped responsibility outside the selected functional boundary
requires problem with its path, responsibility and prevented conclusion.
Treat the checkout as read-only. For a capture, read only its frozen contents.
Roles after the analysts work from the accepted records. They read the source only to resolve a named ambiguity in a cited record, at its cited paths and frozen revision, and log each read in their member with path, lines and the ambiguity resolved. Source understanding cannot replace a missing supporting record.
Check content and quotation
If the content check's command is unavailable, write problem; do not use a
shared installation as a substitute. Do not report a check you did not
execute. Validation is read-only and reports this role's content and relation findings.
A content pass establishes form and quotation occurrence, not claim support,
analytical correctness or job acceptance. Code also checks invocation-specific
identity and source conditions.
Every source-dependent finding cites a SRC-* ID and a local anchor. For
Git the anchor is one code span holding the full commit-relative path, such
as packages/runtime/src/agent-run.ts, or a GitHub blob link at the reviewed
commit; a basename denotes a repository-root file, and the path must exist at
that commit. Only quotation attributions carry line ranges.
Load-bearing findings, including disputed mechanisms, comparison
classifications and assessments, retain minimum verbatim passages; a supplied
member's record can supply the passage, so cite it rather than repeat it.
Write each passage as a blockquote ending in a > --- attribution naming the
commit-relative path in a code span, or the registered capture path. Under
whitespace normalization the quote occurs exactly once in the frozen blob or
capture, or within a supplied line range containing all of it. Display line
numbers, invented ellipses and formatting fences are not quote text;
discontiguous passages use separate blocks. Occurrence establishes neither
support nor coverage.
Do not calculate attribution ranges or revisions. Resolve ambiguity by a
pasted, checked range or a longer quote. For a missing quote, reread the
source and recheck the claim. Narrow or withdraw a
finding only when the evidence cannot support it, never merely to pass a check
or to make coverage uniform.
Record each finding narrowed or withdrawn during check repair, with its
reason, in scratch/check-repairs.md.
Avoid prior-analysis exposure
Do not call agent listings or read style exemplars, prior reviews or audits,
kb/agent-memory-systems/, kb/agentic-systems/reviews/,
kb/agentic-systems/reviews-archive/, kb/agentic-systems/reports/,
kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained/,
kb/agentic-system-analyses/retained-archive/,
kb/work/analyse-agentic-system/, other runs under
kb/agentic-system-analyses/state/, surveys or comparison outputs. A path
filter does not make an agent listing safe. If any tool exposes prior-review
prose or audit findings, stop and write problem saying so; this run cannot
use your work.
